Description from the manager
Within yards of the sea and with wonderful views over the mountains, this delightful traditional detached croft cottage dates back to 1850 and has been sympathetically modernised and extended. The cottage retains its whitewashed stone exterior and features exposed beams, wood burning stove and wooden floors. The attic bedroom (twin) is reached by a steep stair and has low ceiling. The rooms are warm, cosy and very comfortably furnished. The cottage stands in its own enclosed garden, on a quiet ’no through’ road directly facing the sea and is within walking distance of the shops (1 mile), restaurant and bar (1/4 mile).

OxfordA lovely cottage with fantastic views.
Left on 08/31/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This cottage is perfectly located with fantastic views and direct access to the sea shore. There is easy access to the mainland and good walks from the door.We loved walking along the shore and seeing seals, oyster catchers and herons.Unfortunately the otters refused to reveal themselves! We found it beautifully warm and well equipped.
If our party had been larger we might have found the two worn out mattresses in the twin bedroom a problem. This is the only reason we didn't rate the cottage 5*. -

we were pleased to see some of our suggestions from last year had been carried out.we still have one or two grumbles- no microwave, the sofa still sags and the cottage could be cleaner

Newport-on-TayBijou cottage that was sufficient for our small family.
Left on 04/07/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We just retuned from our trip to Skye and our stay in this wee cottage. My first impressions were a bit underwhelmed because of the peeling paint on the fence and the garden debris left in the yard. But the house was warm and the kitchen especially was in good shape and well supplied. The upstairs was very wee and if you were taller than 5foot 7inches you had to constantly bend over. Mind you, there was only 20cm of headroom at this height anyway, so whenever you were upstairs it was a challenge not to bang your head! The furniture upstairs as well had seen better days as drawers had the bottoms falling out and the blind on the velux window was very temperamental and would rarely stay closed all night. The shower, however, was powerful and hot and extra hot water was easily provided by the immersion heater booster. There is no gas, only electric for heating etc and the heaters were quite old although I'm sure they were safe. The area has a large-ish co-op and petrol station as well as a very good but also small serpentarium and some cafe's, etc. It is a long way to the North of the island from cottage.

Manager
We apologise for the initial impression on arrival - these are the first adverse comments we have received about this very popular cottage. The owner had organised builders to re-paint the fence and house exterior before your visit but the weather had been so awful on Skye that this couldn't be done. This work has now been fully completed and all builders materials removed. Once again please accept our apologies.

Left on 12/07/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We had a wonderful stay at Sonus and a great location to base yourself for travelling around Skye and the Kyle coast.
The wee yotal fire was a nice touch.
Would recommend the accommodation for a stay. -

EdinburghLovely warm wee cottage in quiet scenic location on the shore
Left on 10/06/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Really lovely warm wee cottage with great views across Broadford Bay - wonderful for bird watching and great sunsets if the weather allows! Walking distance to ardnish for more birds, seals and otters and for shops and restaurants/pub in opposite direction. Local caretaker is helpful and efficient. Good location for trips further afield in the car.

StevenageIdeally placed
Left on 09/17/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The cottage was ideally placed and reasonably well equipped. However, unfortunately, the timer on the water heater was broken, so you had to get up two hours before you were planning to in order to put on the booster. The tank also only showered one person, so that was a bit of a problem. However, the view was wonderful.

BiggarSonus Cottage, Waterloo, Skye
Left on 07/21/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We were extremely pleased with our accomodation. It was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The reasons I did not give it top scores were as follows. It would have benefitted from a bath as well as a shower although I realise that is a space issue. The kitchen would be enhanced by a freezer compartment- we bought ice cream and then realised there was nowhere to store it- and possibly a microwave for quick preparation when we wanted to get out early. These are small issues as overall we had a wonderful time and would certainly consider returning although we would definitely try to find a place which allowed our dog.

Left on 10/21/2010 for a stay in October 2009
One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Appreciated the lack of clutter and sense of space.
We were not so keen on Skye itself..we found some of it a bit touristy and less 'wild' than expected, unless you are walkers and can get off the beaten track, but we had a very good week in this excellent little cottage. -

Left on 10/08/2010 for a stay in September 2010
The cottage was very pleasant, comfortable and clean. The location, close to Broadford, was convenient for touring the whole of Skye and close to the mainland for a tour round Plockton, Stromeferry and the lovely Loch Carron. Not far away is the Co-op if you want to cook for yourself, various places to eat out and a smashing chip shop for a takeaway. We saw Highland cattle, sea eagles and beautiful scenery. We're glad we came.

BirkenheadA fantastic homely cottage
Left on 10/08/2010 for a stay in April 2009
We stayed here for the Easter break 2009 and together with the fantastic weather enjoyed a great week. The cottage has superb views over Broadford bay and the red cuillin hills. It was nice to come home to the cottage after a day on the hills with the wood burning stove looking out over the bay. The cottage had everything you would need in terms of facilities and comfort.
Top notch !
