Situated right on the shore, in a large garden, Waterside Cottage is located in Broadford, Isle of Skye and is a detached former crofting house dating from around 1857, with bags of character and charm. It has 4 bedrooms (3 with sea views), 3 bathrooms and comfortably sleeps 8. A wood burning stove makes winter stays as enjoyable as summer ones and the layout means that it is just as welcoming for 2 people as it is for 8.
Brilliantly located with direct access to the sea you can walk onto the shore from the garden or just watch the birdlife (greylag geese, herons, ringed plovers, oyster catchers, curlews, shelducks, widgeon, sandpipers)... from the window. Broadford Bay is known for its superb birdlife and you can while away many an hour checking for new arrivals. There is lockable storage for bikes and at high tide you can launch kayaks and canoes from the garden.
The cottage is also excellently situated to access the amenities of Broadford. The family friendly Hebridean Hotel is around 2 minutes walk away and other restaurants, shops and cafes are within walking distance or a short drive away. Equally Broadford serves as an excellent hub for visiting Skye - you can easily explore Staffin, Trotternish and Waternish in the north and Elgol in the west in a day or you can head south to Sleat, the Garden of Skye or back over the bridge to explore the delights of Plockton, Applecross, or Kintail, all within 30 minutes to an hour's drive away.
We have tried to make Waterside Cottage as cosy and welcoming as possible. Light and bright but with a scattering of antiques and oddities which are personal favourites. The accommodation includes one King size double, one Twin (or Superking), one Double ensuite (ground floor) and one Double. All bedrooms have their own washbasins. There are two additional bathrooms (one with bath, one with shower), both with underfloor heating.
The Lounge/Diner has a woodburning stove and an upright piano for those who enjoy tinkling the ivories. There is a handy porch which runs the length of the house with seating and tables at one end with with views onto the sea, lovely in the morning sun. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, double oven and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
