Hackmatack Farm, is a 150 year old farmhouse that has been thoroughly restored and freshly painted. The 1.5 acre of fertile farmland supports herb and veggie gardens, fruit trees and prodigious flower beds, all of which may be used by guests. A large mowed lawn offers space for ball games. A lovely shaded area with plants and seating is found beneath what may be the largest known European Beech Tree in Maine. A patio with comfortable chairs is arranged around an outdoor fireplace where guests can toast marshmallows! There is also an outdoor gas grill and picnic table for outdoor eating.

Brooklin faces Acadia National Park which is an hour away. It is home to many wooden boat builders and the Wooden Boat School. It boasts many wonderful locations including sandy beach, picnic tables, shore walks at Naskeag Point and the incredable views over the rocks at Flye Point where picnicking also possible. It is home also to lobster fishermen and clamers, and crabbers, all of which is available close to Hackmatack Farm. Artists and writers (including EB White) have lived there summers and year round for generations. Many open their studios and galleries to the public in the summer. There is a local farmers market and wonderful restaurants.
