Fräulein was the best host. She was welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The home was warm and cosy and in a good position. At first we were worried about the neighbour hood but discovered all was fine even coming home late on the subway, which runs about every 10 min. I would recommend taking earplugs because its a noisy city and the airport nearby shuts about midnight but this is only an issue if you have your window open. We really enjoyed our stay.

Brussels, BelgiumExactly what we needed!!
Left on 12/05/2012 for a stay in August 2012
It was already our fourth visit to NYC, but the first time we stayed in Brooklyn in the Prospekt Park area. This apartment really felt like home. At arrival we were greeted by the lovely Fraulein. She showed us around, explained some stuff, but she didn't bother us for the rest of our stay. Fraulein and her husband, who live upstairs, are really great, they even printed some tickets for us.
The apartment is wonderful and we stayed there for almost two weeks very comfortably with three. It has a large living/dining area with a big pullout sofa. The kitchen wasn't really big, but it contained everything we needed. The owners had even provided some bagels, juice, etc for the first day(s). The bedroom has a queenside bed. The bathroom is rather small (but that wasn't a problem for us) with a bath (with showercurtain) and toilet. At the back there was also a very lovely garden with garden furnuture (and some nice cats!!). We spend quite some time in the evenings there. The wireless internet was included in the price and worked very well.
The only downside I can think about is, there's isn't really aC, but there are fans at the ceiling and 'blowers' in the windows. It could really get hot in there when temperatures were above 30°C outside, but you also get used to it really...
Although the apartment is not located in Manhattan, it only takes around 20 minutes to get there by underground (8 minutes walk to Prospekt Park station). The metro runs all night, so no problem getting back there after an evening/night out in Manhattan. The eara didn't feel really safe at the beginning, but once you get used to it, it wasn't a problem at all anymore and the apartment itself in located in a calm and quiet street. ;-) There are lots of supermarkets around to do your grocery shopping and also some cheap laundrettes (you will need it for a longer stay as towels and sheets don't get changed).
I would definitely recommend this apartement if you don't feel like staying in the noise and buzz from Manhattan. Great value for money!! -

We felt so much at home during our week long stay. The apartment was cozy yet roomy, and very comfortable for our family of four (including a tween and a teen). Fraulein was most accommodating and helpful, and also available as she lives upstairs.
The kitchen was a great feature. Walking distance to nearby supermarket but most staples were surprisingly provided!
About 3 or 4 blocks away is the beautiful Prospect Park and its Metro station. From there a Metrocard will get you most anywhere you want to go! We took the Q and B lines in to Manhattan almost daily.
Our NY relatives were all surprised to see how nice and safe this area of Brooklyn has become. In fact I think they were quite jealous that we found this little gem! We returned at all hours of the night, walking from the station, and even if it was somewhat dark, we never felt unsafe in any way. -

We stayed at Lefferts Garden for a week in November. We wanted to stay outside Manhattan and in a nice neighbourhood - the flat hit the bill perfectly. We arrived tired, about midnight after traveling from the UK all day. We were met by Fraulein who was lovely. She had got bagels and beer for us which was perfect. During our stay we needed some documents printed and the Carella's could not have been more helpful in sorting that out. It takes about 25 minutes to get into Manhattan but I would also recommend some of the local amenities including Prospect Park and the Botanical gardens. The flat is clean and has everything you need for a holiday stay.
Once again thanks for everything John and Fraulein. -

A great experience staying in Brooklyn. Everyone we met was very welcoming. The area was exciting, safe and close to Prospect Park with a 2/3 minute walk to the station. It was only one stop on the subway to 5th and 7th street with lots of good restaurants.
Fraulein was very helpful and provided lots of provisions for our first few days. The appartment was ideal. It was very clean with lots of space. We had a great time with lots of memories. -

Ann Arbor, MichiganNice and affordable apt in Brooklyn!
Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011
During our trip to NY, I stayed in this apt with my sister and a friend for 10 days. It was just perfect! Fraulein welcome us with bagels, milk, juice, etc so we didn't need to go out to buy food upon arrival. The apt was very clean and nicely decorated. Everything we need was available, Internet, cable TV, towels, bathroom supplies, kitchen supplies, maps, list of attractions...and the shower was amazing. The subway station was just a few blocks away and it took us about 20 minutes to get to downtown NY. Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens were very close and a nice place to relax from the stress that NY can make you feel sometimes.
Thank you so much John and Fraulein for your hospitality...I will come back soon!

Concord, MAThe real deal
Left on 04/28/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We all know that renting a place sight unseen requires a certain faith in the unknown. The Lefferts Garden Suite is exactly as it appears and is located in a quiet, safe, and lovely neighborhood with parking available right outside the apartment. Fraulein does an amazing job of providing breakfast foods and more to get you started but the area provides plenty of shopping and restaurants. In addition, the flat is close to the Metro and Prospect Park, great for walking and for us, biking. Brooklyn is a wonderful alternative to the expensive hotels and rentals in Manhattan and the Lefferts Garden Suite is clean, attractive, quiet and safe.

Hi Susan and Hank, How are you both? Hope you are doing well. We are just beginning to enjoy the great weather, but we still have spots of rain. I was able to find homes for the kittens through work. Thank you so much for the great review. I am so glad that you had a great time in Brooklyn. We enjoyed having you as our guest. On your next visit, we would like to give you a 10% discount on your stay as our thanks for choosing our suite. Warmest regards, Fraulein and John

LondonAn amazing place to stay - a home away from home!
Left on 03/05/2011 for a stay in February 2011
If you are looking for an amazing, spacious, fully equipped, close to transport links with the added value of great landlords in NYC. This is the place for you.
Fraulein & John provided us with a home away from home. Everything from hairdryer, towels and even body wash and hair conditioner was provided. Full internet access via wifi and to top it off, a fridge with some well needed supplies was provided so we didn't have to find the shops for food as soon as we arrived.
My bed was very comfortable, the shower powerful and always hot and we had the space to not feel on top of each other. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this to anyone wanted a real taste of NYC living!

Perth, Western AustraliaWarmth and Comfort in Brooklyn
Left on 12/29/2010 for a stay in December 2010
We were warmly welcomed by Fraulein, our host, when we arrived, late at night, in Brooklyn after a 21 hour flight from australia. Her cheery smile, and warmth helped settle in straight away and was just what we needed. The apartment was warm, clean, nicely decorated and well appointed. We even had a lovely fresh batch of bagels ready for our first breakfast. During our stay we found all amenities close by - the grocery shop, the laundromat and the subway are literally a five minute walk. We were two adults and two teenage children and so the single bedroom apartment was a bit of squeeze but we managed - really better suited to a couple. Fraulein's and John's hospitality really helped to make feel welcome and they went out of their way to make sure our stay in NYC was the best it could be.

From before I even checked in, the hospitality I received from Frauliene was superb.
I arrived earlier in the day than scheduled but I was met with smiles and allowed to check in at 11:00 instead of 15:00 as my flight arrived so early. This lady is a diamond. She went out and bought me groceries out of her own pocket because she didn't think I would have had time to shop! Who shows such kindness and consideration nowadays? T
The property is even nicer in real life than the pictures. Very, very clean and comfortable. The living area is nice and it has an excellent little sound system to boot. The bed is devine and very comfy. Bathroom and toilet pictures are not shown but it has a great power shower and is also very clean. It definately was fit for purpose but the hospitality is what did it for me. Being in this apartment is like staying with family. She pays attention to detail and has all the info you would need for your trip from theatre to food.
I would be very miffed if I had another stay in NY and couldn't stay with Frauliene. God bless her. -

A very comfortable apartment in a convenient location - near to metro station and supermarkets. The landlord even provided the basic food stuff in the kitchen such as bagels, milk, juice, etc so that you don't have to go out immediately to shop for food. Very much appreciated especially after travelling a few hours to get to NYC.
