    Additional Location Information

The Neighborhood: Located in the historic district of Bedford-Stuyvesant; today a vibrant urban Caribbean/African American community (sandwiched in between the fascinating Hasidic areas of Crown Heights and Williamsburg), only 15 minutes from Prospect Park and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens/Zoo & Museum of Art. More and more young professionals are moving to Bedford-Stuyvesant in search of a neighborhood community and for its character, convenience and value for money. Nowhere else can you find such luxurious, spacious living, in the heart of New York City and only a 20 minute subway ride to Greenwich Village. Be advised that this is an area in transition. It is quiet and neighbors are warm and very friendly and whilst you will find an abundance of fresh fruit, seafood, meat and grocery stores -- there are few local restaurants and coffee shops. Not to worry -- Fort Greene and Williamsburg are only minutes away on foot, by bus or subway and home to some of today's best bars and restaurants in Brooklyn

Nice appartment, uncomplicated handling and very friendly people

Left on 05/30/2013 for a stay in May 2013

Very nice appartment, very nice and trustful people.
Good possibility for cooking, good equipment and enough room, big refrigerator. Nice bathrooms, clean and also enough room.
All furnished with taste, it is a complete concept.
Neighbourhood makes you "feel Brooklyn", we liked it.
Easy connections to Manhattan (takes about 20 min.)and other districts. Supermarket is near.
All handling was so easy (from request until refunding of deposit). Price-performance ratio is okay. Absolutely recommendable.

      Great Location

Left on 05/14/2013 for a stay in May 2013

This beautiful Brownstone is located in the heart of Brooklyn with easy access to the subway and buses. A great fried chicken restaurant is within a block. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and the kitchen is well appointed. Sully and Dia live on the premises and were great to work with. We would defiinitely stay here again since it was more reasonable than a hotel.

Lovely house in a convenient location

Left on 04/03/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This is a great house, perfect for a New York City family holiday.

There is plenty of space, with three large bedrooms all having double beds (and a blow up bed as extra in at least one room). There is a big sitting room and office, with a computer on which you can print documents. Good wifi. Downstairs is a small but cosy kitchen.

The location is really good. Only five minutes walk from the subway, on a line that gets you into Manhattan quickly; very convenient for a lot of the main sights. We were only there for a few days but bought the 30 dollar week pass, and easily got our money's worth.

There are various small grocery stores nearby for food basics if you need, and a liquor store around the corner. Neighbourhood seemed pretty friendly.

Good tip for bars and restaurants is to go just a few stops along the line to Lafayette. Seems to be quite a cool area and we ended up stopping off for dinner after days in Manhattan on a few occasions. Which means you are most of the way home and seems less expensive and less touristy than some areas of Manhattan.

Ruty (the owner) was very helpful in the run-up to our arrival. There is a tenant who lives in the house but we only saw her when we arrived and when the popped down to check if everything was alright after we had been there a couple of days.

Overall, really great place and I would strongly recommend. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip into NYC.

Ruty and Dia were very helpful in assisting us out-of-towners in getting situated at the home. The house itself is beautiful and was perfect for our needs. Thank you Ruty and Dia!

      Home for the holidays!

Left on 01/30/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Our family very much enjoyed our stay in Ruty's apartment. We were there for the holidays and did lots of cooking. We had 11 people for Christmas dinner. The kitchen was well equipped and there were basic pantry items on hand so you could use something and leave something for the next guests. Kitchen and living areas were roomy as were the bedrooms. Thanks for a great stay.

Marvelous location for our visit to the "Big apple"

Left on 12/17/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Our holiday was October 21, 2012 to October 27, 2012. We were a party of 3 couples so we were very happy to have our own very spacious bedroom and we shared 2 fully rennovated bathrooms. The house was perfect as we were able to enjoy breakfast together each morning as we would plan our adventure for the day. The kitchen has been fully rennovated and is fully equipped to prepare any type of meal. Location was perfect as we were a short walk from the 24/7 Subway Station and a 7 day pass was only $29.00 each. When we wanted to see the sights above ground, we would take the Bus as this too was in walking distance and a bus stop very close to home. We flew into JFK airport and took a cab to the Brownstone however we took the subway back to the airport and it was a very easy ride! You have to pay $5.00 to get into the airport from the subway route.
While there are not any fine dining restaurants within walking distance, there are a few fast-food restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance. Our group of 6 would either stay in Manhattan for dinner or we would prepare dinner at home. Rudiha, the tennant on the 4th floor is extremely helpful and very quiet and you really don't know that she is there. We found the neighbourhood very friendly, helpful and safe. We highly recommend this home if you are traveling in a group as it is an extremely clean, spacious and comfortable home. We had a wonderful week in New York as there is so much to see and do and we could spend many more weeks there than just one and New Yorkers! well we can't say enough about them as we found them helful, friendly and easy to strike up a conversation.
The Staten Island ferry is free and you can get a view of the Statue of Liberty!

A family with 4 teenagers from Berlin, we came for the second time to Brooklyn, during school holidays in early October, to spend some exciting time in New York City.
Planning and arranging the trip was very comfortable due to the good communication and quick reply of Ruty, the owner. We had a great time, and always loved to come "home" to Brooklyn and relax from the vibrant city.
The house has lots of room for everybody, we even didn't use the living room too much and spent most of the time cooking and chilling in the cosy kitchen in the basement.
In case we needed something, there was always help, so we had a pleasant stay.
The deposit was returned immediately after returning home without asking for it.
We will love to come back, some time in the future.

      Great stay in bedford-stuyvesant

Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This new experience confirms me in choosing Brooklyn as their home for our stay in New York.
The relative calm of the residential area is soothing after a day of walking and visiting Manhattan.
A clean, relatively quiet, spacious rooms for a comfortable stay, a hostess available and quick to respond to our requests, that's all you can find in Ruty, this is the point.

This house is very well positioned, close to the subway, even if it is not an express station, you're in Manhattan in 15 minutes.
Spread over 3 floors, the rooms are very spacious with plenty of storage.
      - 1 bedroom, kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor garden, a basement with a washer and dryer (very useful depending on length of stay).
      - 1 living room and an office with a computer station at the first level where an extra bed is available in the form of a futon.
      - 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the 2nd level
The particularity of this house is that it is already occupied on a third level by tenants. There are fairly discrete and very available to resolve any of your problems.

      Totally Surprised...In a Good Way

Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012

I was very hesitant about trying this out because it was new to me and I worried about being scammed. This was far from that. The house is lovely, clean, secure and comfortable. I arrived pretty late at night (actually really early in the morning) and happened to run into the upstairs tenants who willingly gave me a quick tour of the apartment without fret or complain. The kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms were well kept and comfy. No central air but aC units in each room that kept the rooms cool. The location was ideal for my group since we were there for the West Indian Day Parade which we were able to walk to. The parking isn't the greatest but that's expected. The deposit was returned promptly.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn...as a matter of fact, for a short time, lived not too far from this area. I must say I was pleasantly surprised of the whole process, from the owner communication, to the stay, to the transaction. Good job...will be staying there again. :-)

      Great stay in Brooklyn

Left on 08/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We are a family of six, three teenagers and a five year old, and we had a great two week stay in Hancock Street. The house (more accurate description than an apartment) was spacious, convenient and charming. Five minutes walk from the C line on the subway, and very convenient for Manhattan trains. It is also very handy for bus routes, which we ended up using more than the subway (cooler and easier).
Bed-Stuy is a great area, much less touristy than Manhattan - you really got the sense of real life in Brooklyn. We got the quick lowdown from Sully , who lives on the top floor, who told us all we needed to know in terms of getting around - he gave us his phone number, and pretty much left us to enjoy ourselves after that.
We stayed in august, sweltering heat. Thankfully the top two bedrooms have really effective air conditioning. The large sitting room has aC as well, although being a much bigger room took a bit of time to cool down. Two bathrooms were very convenient for us, and the kitchen was lovely - the fridge was massive and brand new.
I recommend the pizza place which is about fifty yards down Throop avenue. And for grocery shopping, there's a Foodtown supermarket about ten minutes walk down Fulton avenue. If you need something urgent, Adel's shop is two doors down. Good for orange juice, milk and the New York Daily News.
All in all,the house is a great place if you want to see New York without breaking the bank. Highly recommended

      Fantastic apartment!

Left on 07/16/2012 for a stay in June 2012

7 of us stayed here for 10 days during June. This was a fantastic apartment. It was very safe- I was with 3 of my kids and their friends and we came home at all times of the day and night on the subway without any problems. In fact, we accidentally lost $10 outside one of the corner markets when getting cash from the aTM and the local neighbors called and ran us us down to give us our money back! :)
We brought our foldable bikes and rode them around Brooklyn to the cool cafes and took them on the subway into Manhattan, Central Park, Queens and to the Brooklyn Park. It was very easy to get around and we could store the bikes on the base floor in a huge room (5 bikes stored easily with plenty of walking room and baggage room still). This was really nice as we did not have to break down the bikes each day nor did we have to carry them up any stairs.
The apartment is huge on all floors and gives plenty of space for large groups to have a little of their own space still- ideal for groups and longer stays!
The kitchen is fantastic and has everything you need. It was really nice to have the laundry room and everything provided right there.
Ruty was very easy to work with and the upstairs renters are so sweet, nice and just wonderful. We hardly even knew they were there but if we needed something, they were there immediately to help us.
I can't say enough about how great this apartment was- a real find for NYC and we will be back for sure!

      Everything perfect!

Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in May 2012

My friends and me had a great stay at this nice prize brooklyn apartment. The rooms are quite large and there was a lot more space than the five of us could use. Everything was clean and in proper condition. It was very useful that there was a computer for internet access. The subway station is within a few minutes walking distance.
There is a tenant called Rhuddia living on the top floor. She was very friendly and helpful, beeing there at our arrival, showing us around and telling us where to go. One time our key to the backyard got stuck. Rhuddia was right there to help us, calling her boyfriend who managed to get the key out of the lock.
Although we didn't meet our lessor Ruty, we felt that everything was well organized. She also was very helpful ever since our first contact. I would definitely recommend this place to other travelers.
