Merritt Island, FloridaRaccoon Roost is Beautiful way up high.

This was our Second visit to the Smokys we went in 2011 and stayed in Wears Valley. I searched for a different location just to have a chance to be closer to places that were a bit further from us last year. I booked this cabin I loved the size and the price was where I wanted, and I wanted it to be secluded. However it wasn't mentioned to be by the managing company that the access is quite a bit steep and would be better suited for and aWD of FWD vehicle. Although my 6Cyl did make the steep mountain climb in nearly over heated and I never could get it up the driveway and as it was we had to gun it just to get into the bottom of the drive. I timed it from the main highway a total of 25 minutes to get to the cabin, and after dark was a bit frightening for those of us who are not used to traveling on those windy rodes. However that being said the Cabin itself is absolutely stunning and furnished so nice, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you could ever need to make all your meals. It was nice having a washer/dryer and we had bathrooms which was nice too. The kids had fun playing pool downstairs, and us adults enjoyed the Hot Tub. We spent several evenings grilling out and making smores around the fire. It did have Direct TV but no WI FI, and we did find that if you climbed the hill behind the cabin you could get a cell signal. I would def reccomend staying here if you have a vehicle that can handle it. I will def go back to looking for one with easier access, but would use Yellow Rose Realty again. Just remember to ask how easy the access is when looking for a Cabin in the Mountains. I know from now on that will be my first question.
