Description from the owner

Chalet at Sawyer Creek is located halfway up an easy access mountain within a short distance of what most people come to the mountains for...gorgeous vistas and Mother Nature's wonders. The cabin is like a tree house with a huge, wrap-around, elevated deck where you can lounge in the hammock, grill a steak, or enjoy the view while relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day of adventure. There's privacy! Your cabin is secluded and away from everything but the mountains, trees, and Sawyer Creek. Of course, you don't have to drive far to get to groceries, activities, or attractions; this is the perfect spot.

There's a beautiful gr...Read more

The cabin is very nice with outstanding views from all areas of the cabin. The deck is great for sitting outside to enjoy the views of the mountains and to grill and hang out. Melanie was great accommodating us on very short notice. The cabin location was great, a few miles outside Robbinsville, NC which has grocery and gas, plus we were well located for hitting all the great forests and wilderness areas within NC. The cabin had all the necessary amenities for sleeping, tv, Internet, kitchen, etc. Definitely a nice property with great views in a great location!

The owners, Melanie and Bill were great. They were very communicative and thoroughly provided all needed information including detailed directions, surrounding attractions, and cabin info. The cabin was nice and clean and quiet. It was a great place to relax. And the location was perfect for motorcycle riding in the area. It is only a few miles from the "dragon". There were 4 people in my group and all were very pleased with the accommodations. We hope to do it again soon!

      Very Charming and Lovely

Left on 05/15/2012 for a stay in August 2011

We have now stayed at both Chalet at Sawyer Creek and Mountain Vista. Our first time was at Mountain Vista, and we really enjoyed our stay but was too short. Mountain Vista has an incredible view. Both cabins are designed the same way. Very clean, has everything and well done. Perhaps the serenity of chalet at sawyer creek was the winner of the two, but don't get me wrong Chalet too has a nice view and mountain vista is also located in a very nice and quiet spot. The owners are great, the hospitality outstanding and we plan to go yet again a third time. Even though we knew there was no internet (I belive this may be coming soon) at the cabin, we never ended up planning our trip, so the first thing we do when we arrive at the cabin is place all the flyers/brochures that visitors/owners have left behind on the floor (there are many of these) and sift through to plan our trip--yes we are lazy and leave everything for the last minute. Nonetheless, a simple call to these places reserves our events. Infact we went horse riding to Lonesome Dove? (I forget the exact name) but remember Richard who owns the horses there, and had a pleasant ride. On speaking with Richard I asked him about the overnight horse trips that was advertised on the Flyer we had in the cabin. He looked at me with a warm smile and said---"that was way back in the 90's!" Well the Flyer was still there and we were gald to have seen it, because on our previous trip we went riding in the Smoky National Park, however, there due to strick rules nothing except walking was allowed. We went white water rafting, Zip lines, hiking and visited most of the restaurants recommended by Melanie in the fat book you will find on the table in front of the couch. All in all this is a must go place if you want to be by yourself and relax in the mountains.

      Peaceful and Serene, Utterly Fantastic

Melanie and Bill were terrific hosts , the directions to the Chalet were right on and Bill had the patience of Job when explaining the satellite tv and dvd to a non-techi. The views from the livingroom windows and the views from the Loft bedroon were absolutey beautiful. The pictures on line do not do the Chalet justice, all was great, to include all the kitchen gizmos. We will definitely be returning to rent from the Woods on our next mini vacation. Even our little Shatzie enjoyed himself.

A great trip. Everything was as advertised. The location was convenient to many attractions and yet you felt secluded when you returned to the cabin. We especially loved the white water rafting and zip line in the Nantahala Vally.

      That special place

Left on 08/16/2010 for a stay in August 2010

For the last 6 years our family enjoys spending our two week summer vacation by staying each time in a different cabin in the mountains of NC. We search, and search, and then search some more until we find what we hope is "that special place". Bingo... we found it this time!!! Beautiful area, secluded but not isolated, very quite and peaceful. The cabin is very very clean, warm, cozy and comfortable. The cabin comes complete with a write-up by owners Melanie & Bill of local restaurants and the many mountain activities to enjoy (driving directions included). That's a real big help when you are in a new area for the first time. Close by we were easily able to get to white water rafting, horseback riding, gem mining, trout farm fishing, lake swimming, music, pontoon boating,
U-pick-it fruits and vegetables farm, scenic drives, hiking and grocery shopping. Morning Coffee, evening wine and reading a good book on the large deck over looking the lush forest and mountains could not have been more enjoyable.Take my recommedation, this is the perfect area and cabin for those who are looking for that very "special place". We were thrilled with our stay here and I'm sure you will be too. We were impressed by the cabin guest book being filled with pages and pages of heart felt stories from previous guests who like us had just absolutely loved their stay. Thank you Bill & Melanie.

Thanks so much for the kind words. A vacation is a big deal, and it needs to be perfect...or as close to perfect as you can get. We love this part of the Smokies, too! It's great to be where you can enjoy nature without feeling crowded.
