located at the East end of Fontana Lake / six miles West of Bryson City, NC. here in the Great Smoky Mountains is where Sleeping Dog Cabins are located. We are pet friendly and all of our cabins are fully furnished and very private. Our guest have use of our private lake access area during their stay. We also rent, 4 wheelers, canoes, and pontoon boats.
You are less than 15 minutes from the following, white water rafting, gem mining, horseback riding, Casino, shopping, flea markets, golf, hiking, biking, National Park, Cherokee, water falls, trout fishing, lake fishing, and much much more. We spent a few days of my daughter's spring break at Sleeping Dog Cabins. We just wanted a place to relax, enjoy the mountains, some light hiking, and some family time. The cabin was rustic and very well decorated. There was wood in the fireplace ready for lighting, and more wood split and ready to use in the woodbasket and on the back porch. There were staples already stocked in the kitchen, and linens and towels were provided. There was a concrete walkway out to an outdoor firepit, and a large backporch with rocking chairs. There were lots of Dvd's stocked, and even some toys provided for younger kids. The cabin was the perfect place for relaxing after our day trips, warming up in front of the fire, and enjoyin our time together. The owner came by to make sure we had everything we needed, and then made himself scarce to allow us to enjoy our stay. This is not a 5-star hotel, it is a quaint cabin, privately situated for those who enjoy the rustic beauty of the mountains and spending a relaxing time with the folks they care about. The owner goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need ( he will even do your grocery shopping before you arrive) and then allows you to enjoy your stay. We will definitely visit again. Did I mention there is private Lake access in season, and that the cabins are pet friendly? If you are looking for mints on your pillow and a Concierge, look elsewhere. If you enjoy the mtns, the outdoors, and friendly service, check them out. Great times with the people you care about are priceless. Mints are over-rated.

Cabins are nestled in the forest with plenty of privacy. Eclectic decor with all the amenities. Four wheel rentals with plenty of secluded paths to explore. Trout stream nearby and a great place for kayaking or exploring with your canoe. Pet friendly and a perfect mountain retreat. If you want a taste of the mountain life, this is the place to visit. Jim Clayton is an excellent host as well as a very interesting person and impressive artist. He will make you feel at home. This place has everything you could ask for if your wanting a perfect vacation. You can contact him ahead of time and he will even stock the pantry with your choice of groceries. I look forward to visiting again soon.

Sleeping Dog Cabin Rentals was absolutely wonderful. The cabin was beautiful, and Jim, the owner was great! We rented the 4 wheelers for a day and rode up to the trails, which is right up the mountain from the cabin, and when you got to the top of the trails the view was spectacular!...We went fishing, which is just down the road from the cabin also, and caught a trout! It is very private yet not that far from town. I highly recommend for a relaxing vacation.

Our family visited the Smokey Mountains and had the best vacation ever! We wanted something pet friendly and private – and this cabin was perfect! There were no other cabins or homes in site, we felt like we had the mountain to ourselves. It was a real log cabin all wood and just what we had dreamed of. We loved the wood burning fireplace and the fire pit. Thanks for a perfect dream vacation!
