Hialeah, FloridaBest views hands down.
Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in December 2012
This cabin has the best view of the valley ahead hands down. My advice to all renters is to follow the rental company,s advise and use a 4X4 in the winter. I think the best time to go would be in the fall and if you go in the early winter, bring all you need to the cabin and stay in the cabin and surrounding mountain areas for the rest of your stay. Bryson city is near but not down the street, so keep that in mind. Dont try going down or up the mountain if the temps are below freezing point unless you have a 4X4, chained tires or are really good at frozen mountain roads. Summer or fall, this is the place to be!!! Last thing, the people. These are nice folks and they will be there to help you when you call.

Wilmington, NCChristmas in the mountains (View is amazing!)
Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
My husband and I vacation about twice a year in the NC mountains. We stayed at the Big Timber Lodge for a week on Christmas this year.I thought the place would be a little more secluded, however there is a house about 300 yards away and during the winter you can visually see each other from the porches. You can hear people fairly well from their porches at the house down below. The road up to the house is pretty long, narrow & twisty but fairly manageable we didn't encounter any issues. The house itself looks so much bigger than the pictures. Its nicely decorated and we loved our time spent there. However we did encounter a few issues. First the keypad to the gate at entrance of the road broke and we couldn't get back in until someone finally came through the other side.Calling the office even during usual working hours proved to be useless multiple times. It would take about an hour to get a call back. There is no firewood supplied and you have to call and pay for some to be delivered. The hottub is unlevel and splashes water over the side when 4 ppl get in.The windows and wood high up were very dusty with cobwebs. There were dead bugs laying around and lots of live ladybugs wondering around.According to the note on the refrigerator the ladybug problem is well known,we didn't have a problem with it but I think you should inform ppl before hand. There is not enough hot water to go around so you have to space showers.Even still we all took mild or cold showers the whole time.Repair man that came out said the hot water heater is undersized,I think this is something that should be fixed! Also you can only leave 2 bags of trash.I feel this is unfair if staying a week with 6 ppl.If I knew we would have to carry trash down in our car and look for a place to dump it I would have not rented this place! We also heard mice in the walls and found mice dropplings in the house. The windows in the upstairs bedroom needs curtains the sun is brutal in the mornings we hung clothes over the windows.

Thank you for taking the time to review Big Timber Lodge.
During your stay we had no vacancies, so our call volume was higher than normal. We do our best to respond to guests as soon as possible if we are assisting other guests when they call. In light of this, we have hired additional staff, so that should make it easier to get a hold of us.
We do appreciate your feedback especially about the trash. Thanks to feedback from guests like you, we will be implementing a new program shortly allowing guests to leave more trash at the cabin.
We will let the Quality Control Manager know your concerns about the hot tub, the cleanliness of the cabin, the ladybugs, the mice, and the windows.
On our website it does clearly state that we do not provide firewood. This is something that we may change in the future. However, firewood is readily available at various local roadside vendors, grocery stores and gas stations in addtion to the local services that deliver it.
During your stay, when you called about the hot water heater, we sent out maintenance personnel as soon as he finished at another cabin to check out the hot water heater. When our personnel checked the cabin, there was plenty of hot water -- so it is not something broken that needed to be fixed. It may be smaller than what you are accustomed to at home.
Had you called or left a voice message during your stay and reported your concerns about the cleanliness, ladybugs, or mice, then we would have addressed those immediately just as we sent out our maintenance man.
All of our properties are individually owned and those owners decide how to furnish their properties. We will let the owners know how you felt about the windows, however, many cabin owners prefer to let the sunshine in.
We do hope you will consider us for future stays. We see you booked online before. If you call to book you will receive the repeat guest discount of 10%, plus we can help you find the cabin that best fits your needs.

Greenville,SCThe "Best" experience we ever had
Left on 12/24/2012 for a stay in October 2012
I had been to many entertainment and amusement park and also rented in many holiday locations, out of all those the stay in this place is the best I experienced so far. Only disappointment is that we could only rent for three days at this place. I really wish if it was a 5 days stay and not longer than a week, it may make you to ignore the offerings of this wonderful home if you stay longer I believe. We should always keep the fun in short I believe. One thing we missed in here was any kind of equipment which can give a better view of the hills and valleys around this house, then I would it worth the money we are paying and give a 5/5 rating. We three families had a wonderful time at this location. We went for river rafting in nantahala river, which is just 20 minutes near to this place. There are many other places we can pay a visit and the city is also near by. I would recommend bringing some food item to cook if you would like and do not want to eat outside every time, it might be a bit difficult to eat out every time. I wish if whoever maintains this apartment provide new pillows and comforters more often than what you do. Although it was clean, I felt the pillow cover and comforters were kind of odd and rough. One more it would be better if you could provide a better garbage disposal, while going back we had take some of the garbage with us looking for a disposal area.

Thank you, CTR, for taking the time to review Big Timber Lodge.
We appreciate your feedback. We're so glad that you had such a great time in the cabin.
We will let the owner know about your suggestion for equipment to enjoy the view around the cabin -- perhaps some binoculars or a telescope.
We also appreciate your feedback about the pillows and comforters and again will follow up with the owner about this.
Garbage in the mountains is often different than what many guests may be accustomed to at home.
Unfortunately, there is no trash pick up service in the area, so we do ask that our guests remove any trash exceeding two 13 gallon bags. There's a map in the cabin for how to get to the local county dump, so we wish you had noticed it.
Please keep us in mind for future vacations, as a repeat guest, you will receive a 10% discount off any of our cabins when you call to book. -

Driving up the long, winding road , our anticipation mounted as it felt more and more remote. When we finally saw the house in the clearing, we were giddy with excitement. Butterfly bushes and hydrangeas surrounding the deck, spectacular view. The house was spacious, the hot tub wonderful after a six hour hike. Well equipped to cook and grill. Perfect location to the park, Rafting. We loved that it wasn't near the honky tonk towns. Favorite extravagance was renting a catamaran on Fontana Lake. Again, unspoiled and uncrowded beauty. Next time we are in the area, would definitely rent it again. Adler family

This place is awesome. Everything is top notch from the 50" led to the dishes to the furniture, linens, etc. I especially liked going up and down the long winding road to get to the place. Everything about this place was thought of and my family thoroughly enjoyed it. We only stayed three nights and then went to Pigeon Forge. I wish we would have stayed here all week. I told my wife when we come back, we will definitely stay here again. If you are on the fence about where to stay, I guarantee you will not find a nicer place. Awesome awesome house.

The house was very comfortable and very roomy. The porch/deck area gave a nice place to drink morning coffee and take in the view. Hot tub in the evening while gazing at stars finished off each day. Short drive to Cherokee, to Natahala Outdoor Center and Bryson City. We enjoyed a visit to the casino, a train ride and a river raft trip. We had a veiw bear sightings while driving through the Smoky Mountains. Beautiful area and a lot more to do than what we had time for. We will be back. Big Timber Lodge was a great place to stay!
