SingaporeExcellent budget accommodation in Budapest!
Left on 04/24/2013 for a stay in September 2012
I found astoria Studio apartments online and really enjoyed my stay there. The rooms are very clean, neatly done with all basic amenities and this place is located very centrally in Budapest. I did have some trouble locating the right building though- mainly because there is no signboard and the address is a little confusing. The coordinators were lovely friendly folks; this girl (forget her name unfortunately) actually marked out all the nice places to visit and local events to attend on a map! That's just the kind of experience that makes you love Budapest!

These little apartments are run by a friendly family. They met with me at the apartment and provided me with maps and tons of useful info. They were accommodating, made sure everything was clean - and the apartment was in a great location! I could walk fifteen minutes to the city centre (Doha station I think), twenty minutes to the Great Synagogue and the ruin pubs...I pretty much walked everywhere while I was there. Loved having a little apartment to share with my own big room while I was in beautiful Budapest, definitely recommend.

Lyon, FranceNo curtain, no privacy
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We rent this apartment for its central location, which is very convenient for the tourists. It is equipped with a small kitchenette, a small fridge, a bathroom, a small washing machine, almost everything we need. The apartment is old and without elevator which is fine for us. But we were very disappointed that there were either no curtain or with the transparent curtains on the three big windows facing to another apartment. We did not have any privacy while staying in the room; moreover, when the morning dawned, we just could not sleep because it's too bright. I really think it's appropriate for the owner to invest a little bit to install all three opaque curtains for their future guests.

This was a very nice appartment, with all needed comodities, even Wifi!
The best was the welcoming, with a very good explanation of the city.
All in all we just fell at home although we had arrived a few hours before in Budapest, and could then enjoy a great week-end there.
I highly recommend this appartment for it's Price/Quality. -

The reception was very friendly, the person told me the main places to visit and how to get there, the guides also were available to me.
The apartment was very convenient for me (Lindy Shock: Dance event on a boat at 5 min from the apartment).
Simple and quiet, it offers the comforts we need for a weekend. -

We stayed in the Platinus apartment and absolutely loved it. There were 4 of us and the apartment was perfect for our stay. My husband and I stayed in the small bedroom and although it was quite small, it met our needs just fine. The rest of the apartment was very roomy. Marton was great with answering our questions before our arrival. He responded immediately upon receiving my emails. He was out of town when we arrived in Budapest, but his mother met us at the apartment and was wonderful and very helpful. She mapped out all of the sights for us and made us feel very comfortable. Budapest was an incredible experience and the Platinus apartment was perfect for us.

Stayed at Palatinus House for 4 nights. Before arriving I coordinated with the owner my arrival time & when I arrived at the apartment found them there waiting for me. the building is in a nice area, but it is a bit far from city center. The building itself gives you the feel of old budapest & the communist era with a nice & comfortable design. The house consists of 2 bedrooms, kitchen & bathroom. The master bedroom was really big & comfortable with a wardrobe, sofa & desk; however, the small bedroom is really small (only a bed & 4 walls) and it feels as if it is in the kitchen!! The kitchen & toilet were good with everything you need.

Left on 05/31/2011 for a stay in September 2010
We choose Budapesting.com because it offers apartments in the centre of the city, yet for prices affordable for students. The payment itself was realized through PayPal, so it was quite simple. We stayed at the Palatinus House, which has great location - one tram stop from the train station plus about two minutes of walk. When we arrived, we were given all the information we needed to fill our trip with sightseeing, good food and visit of spa without having to look for anything ourselves beforehand. We were also given a welcome present, which helped us to spent one evening pleasantly. The room had enough space and furniture with window facing backyard, so we weren't distracted by the city night life. Kitchen was also well equipped. I took one star for comfort just because of bath tub which wasn't well positioned, but that is the thing of the building. However there was washing machine available and everything was perfectly clean. At the day of our departure, after we gave back the keys, nearly an hour before departure of the train, we realized that we forgot to take something out of the fridge. However our host was so glad to came quickly, so everything was all right in the end. Thank you very much for promptness! Budapest is a very city and Budapesting.com offers great accommodation, pleasant people and reasonable prices.

It was easy to find the place and the location is really great - in the city center... everything was near and the price was ok!! It was a huge apartment and We (2 ecuadorian guys and 1 colombian girl - all students in Europe) stayed in a triple bedroom. We shared the bathroom and the kitchen but it was not a problem. Actually, we met nice people in the others rooms... a polish family and some others european students... We as students usually want to travel around without to spend a lot of money and I think that Palatinus House is a good option... not fancy but it was enough... clean, cheap and safe :) and people was really helpful when we arrived!!

Moscow, RussiaA week in Budapest - much better than expected!
Left on 05/29/2011 for a stay in April 2011
After a long break (like 10 years) I decided to visit Budapest. I was looking for a modest apartment that has everything for my living there for a week, and that is located close to the Budapest's center. The Palatinus house apartment fulfilled all my wishes - it's located very close to Margit hÃd, and to all most important tram stops (4, 6, and 2), so you are able to go anywhere in Budapest very quickly. All the basic necessities are there, though they might look a bit old-fashioned for some - they work well, and the rooms are very clean. The hosts are very welcoming, and maybe the only trouble you'll find there is a gas water heater - but it works fine, and that's what you usually get in old cities' central parts! There is virtually no noise from the outside, and Danube is in less than 2 minutes of walking. In addition, the house has a small store on a 1st floor, and a fabulous diner named Pozsonyi Vendeglö that caters an excellent choice of the authentic Hungarian cuisine. The Palatinus house is an excellent choice for one person or a small group, and at the price asked it's a steal. I would definitely try to stay only there during my visits to Budapest. To me, it's five star.

Marton picked us at the airport and gave us lots of information on Budapest and speciality foods. The appartment is in quiet neighborhood within walking distance of all major attractions, bus and subways... Although in the middle of the city, we heard nothing. This appartement gave us the privacy we wanted, more space than an hotel room, while feeling safe and secure. There are a few restaurants and groceries within 5 minutes. This is a great value for the price...

The location by Margaret Bridge, with easy access to the public tram and metro system, is superb, and yet, just outside the center (you can walk there) in a very nice local neighborhood with good restaurants and an English language bookstore across the street. My wife and I stayed there almost a month and found it very comfortable and convenient. This was my third time with Marton and Peter, who couldn't be more helpful (they speak fluent English) and we'll be back with them again.

MelbourneGood location in Budapest but not what we were expecting
Left on 07/23/2010 for a stay in June 2010
Whilst Martin & Peter were very helpful in picking us up at the station and taking us to the airport - for a fee - the apartment was quite drab and not as comfortable as we were expecting - especially because of the rave reviews.
The main bedroom is also the living area and I don't know how 6 people would stay here - maybe sleep on the large chairs in this room? And be very crowded, with no privacy otherwise. Second bedroom is off the kitchen and so small you couldn't put luggage in there and there are wires sticking out of the wall. We were only 2 people so we had space but the bed was very uncomfortable and low to the floor. We had to keep putting the slats under the mattress back in place. Sparsely and cheaply furnished - bare minimum. Had to wash the cups/glasses before we used them as they were dirty. We didn't feel inspired to prepare any meals there. The shower is awkward because the hot water service is within the bathtub also and its easy to bang against it.There was a clothes horse covered in sheets/towels drying which we folded and put into spare room when we needed to dry clothes. The front door barely closed unless you bolted it from the inside. Best things were washing machine and internet access and location. It is in a less touristy part of town and handy to trams and buses and good restaurants. The actual building is 6 floors with central courtyard and when you look down over the balcony you see rubbish bags piled up outside front doors of other apartments and we didn't see other people around. Felt a bit isolated in run down apartment block. Don't know if it was good value as didn't look at any other accommodation in Budapest after reading reviews of this.Having the hosts explain the map was helpful, with info such as which trams to get to where. -

At first I have to mention about the booking. It
was easy to find and easy to book. After a couple
days of reservation I got an e-mail from Mr Marton
Andrassy where he offered to pick us up the
airport. Of course we used this possibility. Also
he guided us the hot points of Budapest marking all
these interesting places to the map.
The apartment was very close to all important
places of the city. The distance to the metro was
only 300 meters. It means own peace in the
apartment. The rooms and the whole interior was
tidy and cosy. I appreciate the acommadation so
much that when ever I travel to Budapest it's easy
to me to choose Palatinus House.
For the whole packet (service and apartment)I like

Upon arrival, the owner provided me with a map and recommendations about Budapest's many attractions. Every room of the apartment was perfectly cleaned, from the bedroom to the kitchen, which has all sorts of handy appliances.
The apartment is only four blocks away from a bridge that connects Buda with Pest. All places in Budapest are basically within walking distance, but there are also numerous tram and bus stops in the neighborhood. There's a 24/7 convenience store in the same building, as well as several restaurants/diners.
If you're a budget traveler and looking for a reasonably priced room (but without the unfamiliar crowd of a hostel), I definitely recommend this apartment. -

One of the best places to stay if you want to experience Budapest like a local. The guys who manage it - Marton & Peter will take care of you, and their service has been impeccable. They answered all our questions. I would shoot questions over email about local places to hang out and I would get replies pretty quick. They also offer a nice chaffeur driven service to the airport and back for cheap ( 20 EURO, upto 4 people). Only downside in the Palatinus house - there are 2 bedrooms and one of them is really really small. Otherwise, we had superfun!

The apartment has everything you might need on a short stay. We enjoyed being on the top floor, it was very sunny and we did not hear the noise of the city at all. Both bedrooms are equipped with a double bed and the bigger room has 2 foldable single beds. Wireless internet and the tea and coffee in the kitchen were big pluses. first off: Pete and Marton are VERY nice guys!
Their service is exceptional and they are willing to go the extra mile...
The apartment was "OK" (for a 4 night stay)...
Meaning: It did it's job - simple accomodation with enough space for two (if you're more of a couch surfer/backpacker, then you may try up to 4-5 people...
In Germany this would have been a Studio w/ seperate kitchen and an attached pantry-turned room
The Palatinus House is located very near to the Danube River and to Margaret Island (within walking distance).
Although we enjoyed our stay, I have to point out that the pictures could give a slightly better impression than the actual state of the apartment. Then again, I might just be expecting too much of an average Budapest accomodation.
All in all, very affordable accomodation in a beautiful City, with even more beatiful people... -

make it a 4.5, but I'll round up. I visited Budapest with my girlfriend and
stayed at the Palatinus House near Parliament. We thought the location was
fantastic-right along the Danube, minutes from the Island, easy access to
the city center, just jump on a street car 2 blocks away and you're quickly
there (ca. 5 minutes in the trolley).
It's located in a large building and on the top (6th floor). Neighbors all
seemed very friendly, we chatted with 3 in English and they were all quite
personable.
The apartment is comfortable-1 big bedroom, 1 rather small and then a
small, furnished kitchen and narrow hallway/entryway with a dining table
and 2/3 chairs. Bathroom is nice and equipped with a washer, which we did
not use. The shower/tub has a hand-held sprayer faucet, but there was no
place to affix it to the wall, which was somewhat less than desirable when
bathing. We were welcomed by a very friendly woman who left phone
numbers and then gave us an informative primer on where to eat and visit.
I think the shower and the temperature in the apartment were our main
complaints-we came in mid-December and with the door closed, the large
bedroom would eventually warm up, but the apartment itself could be
pretty chilly. However, some things I really liked: price was very reasonable,
location was convenient, friendly service and the ease of the place-we said
when we'd show up, arrived, dropped our things, and when we left, we
simply put our key in the mailbox downstairs. It was both hands-off (which
I liked) but they gave us all the information we needed and made
themselves available should we have any further questions.
The privacy was great for a couple and we felt very comfortable in the
apartment. For two folks in their early-20s, this was a nice, cheap option
for something more intimate, and I can imagine a group of friends renting
out this place and having a great time. I would no doubt contact Marton
and Budapesting once more if I' -

Left on 11/10/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We went to Budapest to visit the Sziget festival 2009. Instead of camping we wanted to rent an apartment. A friend of Marton told us about the Palatinus house. It's located close to the city center and next to the boat stop from where the boats to the Sziget festival depart.
When we arrived Marton's mother was waiting for us in the apartment (we didn't use the pick up service because everybody arrived at another time at the airport). Marton's mother really took the time to tell us the highlights of the city and other usefull information. This was much better than a guide book. We met Marton later at the festival and he gave us some usefull information as well.
We really enjoyed our stay in Budapest. The Palatinus house is a good place to stay. It's close to the center and the river. It takes little time to see the hotspots of the city. -

On my Round The World trip I rented the Palatinus House for about a week last June.
The location is great with the nice little restaurants and cafes around.
The hospitality has been a great PLUS.
Marton and his Mother are doing a great job!
If I ever come back I surely stay with them! -

Budapest is a busy city with lots to do. We enjoyed authentic Hungarian food, a dip at the bath house and a tour on the Danube River. We also ventured through the Labrynth under the castle and took in the sites from the top of Saint Stevens Church. We did not get a chance to tour the Parlament due to a holiday, but it is a majestic building.

The place I was staying was ok, a bit old-fashioned in terms of decor but totally adequate.
It was central without being in the noisy heart of the city, which was a plus.
I travelled all this year across the globe (I took a sabbatical year) and I have to say that Hungary was my least favourite destination of all though.
Whilst the city is pretty and there is culture around, I didn't warm to the people who are too cold and introvert (and not very good-looking to top it all). The food is nice though, so that was a consolation. -

I stayed at Palatiuns House for 5 days. It is very nice and quite big apartament. It has bathroom, kitchen and two rooms. There's TV, hairdrayer and washing maschine.
The apartament is on the sixth floor, so it's very quiet. It's about 7 minutes walk to The Houses Of Parliament and about 1 minute walk to Danube river.
Downstairs there is 24h shop and some restaurants.
I really liked this apartament because of its situation. -

I was in Palatinus House during F1 Grand Prix. The flat is located in the center, close to the river and Margaret Island. On the ground floor, there are two restaurants and a shop. If you want to park your car, you have to pay from mon to fri.
Palatinus House consist of kitchen, bathroom, one big room and one small (there is only bed). Without any doubt, there is enough space for 4 persons.
The major adventage of the Palatinus House is location - many places which are worth seeing you can reach on foot. Moreover, there are trolleybus and tram nearby.
To sum up, I must say that I was very satisfied and I'm thinking of coming again to Budapest next year. Surely, I'll choose flat from Marton! -

Me and friend stayed here for the depeche mode concert. The apartment is clean, basic and just what we needed. and for the price it was a steal. Very well located, all the touristy stuff is within walking distance.

We went to Budapest primarily for the Sziget festival and ended up staying at two different apartments over the week, and this apartment was by far the best of the two. We were greeted personally on arrival and given a tour of the apartment, but more importantly they took the time to show us places of interest in the different areas of Budapest for site-seeing, historical value, and for dining out.
The apartment was clean and fully stocked with all necessities for cooking or washing clothes (and more!) and there was plenty of space. We had 3 people staying but there were enough beds for 5 to sleep comfortably.
The apartment was ideally located for us as it was right next to the ferry terminal for the Sziget festival, but also when we went into the town center it was just a short and scenic walk away along the river.
Overall it was a great apartment and the owners were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this apartment as a place to stay when in Budapest. We will definitely be back next year. -

Seattle, WAA week at Palatinus House
Left on 08/17/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Some friends and I stayed at Palatinus house for a week in July. We had a wonderful time. The apartment is fully equipped (except the slightly dodgy wifi), and we felt totally at home. The building is remarkable and it is really fun to feel like you are living like a local. Just below the apartment are some mini-marts, supermarkets, bars, and restaurants, so everything is easy access. It is only a 2 minute walk to the river, and 10min to the parliament. It is a really great, sunny, and cozy place! I recommend renting it out entirely for you and friends since the second bedroom is quite tiny, and the other bedroom is also the living room, so it's best to be close with the others around! Also, Martin is very trustworthy and reliable. His mom and friends were there cleaning up the place and preparing it with fresh wine before we arrived! Great experience!
