The house is located in Sóskút, a historical and picturesque village, 25 km from Budapest. It's webpage (in Hungarian) can be find at (website: hidden) . Sóskút (Hungarian: Saltwell) is famous for its white stone that was mined here and taken to Budapest and still in our days are part of some of the most famous and extraordinary buildings in Budapest, among them the parlament. Nowadays Sóskút which it's convinient location, is the perfect countryside town for those who works in Budapest but who wish to live on the countryside. Hungary is famous for it's equastrian perfomances and Sóskút is a prime example of that. With it's beautiful surroundings and large natural parks Sóskút is the perfect place for horse riding and the village hosts 4 larger stables home to Grand Prix horses and riders competing on international level as well as hobby riders, horse tourism and representatives of all equestrian disciplines including traditional Hungarian riding styles and horse back arrow shooting.
Places to vivit in Sóskút and its vicinity
Sóskút is a lovely place for walking, bicycling and horse riding. The village has a beautiful church and 19th centuary houses built by Italian architects. A 10 minute drive away you will find Etyek, a small town and famous wine region where you can enjoy some of the country's finest wines in the local wine cellars ((website: hidden)). Etyek also holds a golfcourse, a horse polo cub and one of Europe's largest film studios where plenty of big screen Hollywood movies has been made.
10 minutes in the opposite direction you will find Martonvasar, a town with a stunning mansion with an incredible park complete with a manmade lake. Beethoven spent many of his summers here since he was a dear friend of the family of the mansion and allegedly deeply in love with one of the girls there. Martonvasar has a special Beethoven museum in his honour.
Budapest, the capital of Hungary, split by the river Danube in it's two parts, Buda and Pest, is only a bus or car ride away. With history dating back to the Roman times, today home to 2 million people, it has been under the occupation of many nations, from the Turks to the Russians and all of them has left their mark on this city.
