A wonderful house, set in large and secluded gardens, in the quiet hamlet of Upton a few minutes from the centre of Bude town. Upton House is a fantastic house built from local Cornish stone and offers really superb accommodation for up to twelve. Wonderful flagstone floors are to be found in the hallway, impressive kitchen and conservatory and there are a further two sitting rooms providing plenty of space for all.

This house is a hidden gem. It is a little bit tricky to get there but it is well worth it!
You drive up to big wooden doors - beyond which is a lovely gravel drive that leads you up to the house.
You let yourself into the house (the key is in a safe - details of which are emailed to you before you arrive) and you are met with a lovely hallway. Two beautiful reception rooms either side and a large socialble kitechen.
The decor is befitting of the house giving you a lovely welcoming feeling.
There are 5 bedrooms tastefully decorrated - two with en-suite - and a family bathroom.
A lovely conservertory joins the kitchen and one of the reception rooms. The house is surrounded by a well maintained garden with a bbq/patio area and a pond.
Supermarkets are a short distance away - so supplies are plentiful. A welcome pack was left with an assortment of tea/coffee/biscuits. And the managing agent checked in with us each morning to make sure we were ok and to replace towels soap etc.
There are many attractions within driving distance to the house. An extensive guide was left at the house for us. They also offer a waiter service at the house itself if required. -

We have stayed at Upton House over half a dozen times and keep coming back for more!Regularly staying for a fortnight each Fall and Spring, we always look forward to and thoroughly enjoy our breaks at Upton House and the surrounding area. The house itself is first class, plenty of room, amenities and most importantly for us it is set in a very peaceful and beautiful rural setting. I could wax lyrical about it but you really need to experience it for yourself - you won't be disappointed.The Service provided by Nick is also first class. All in all 'simply brilliant'.

Quite simply the finest house and location we could
have wished for, complete with outstanding service
yet again from Nick Compton and Elite West.
The third year in a row we have holidayed in Bude
through Nick Compton and the best just gets better.
My wife and I took our two children to Upton house
and had a superb time. Upton house is in a stunning
location, privately situated yet 2 minutes walk
from a wonderful canal path that meanders towards
the fantastic town of Bude, along the way taking in
grazing animals and exceptional panoramic views of
the surrounding countryside. Equally convenient are
the range of well maintained and marked cycle paths
- some of which lead to some tough hill climbs
though!
The Gardens are a delight, with a feast of colour,
exotic trees, a large lawn and a superb (but child
safe) terraced fish pond. There is a large patio
leading off the conservatory.
The house itself exceeded expectations in virtually
every way, ticking all the boxes for such an
opulent property in a prestigious location.
Immaculately clean, well maintained and furnished
very comfortably in every room, the house is full
of period charm yet is sympathetically modernised.
It is very spacious, laid out well, homely and
family friendly. Plenty of reception rooms and
bathrooms, with a very large kitchen, all complete
with the creature comforts you would hope for.
The service from Nick Compton and Elite West again
was first class from start to finish. I enquired
about hiring a bike the day before we left for our
holiday, two hours later I had an email with the
details of the various bikes available for hire
locally and when we arrived the chosen bike was
waiting for me in the garage!
We would whole heartedly recommend Upton House and
the Bude area for a holiday location, we are coming
back again this year for the fourth time! Also
recommended is "Life's a Beach" on Summerleaze
beach in Bude, a fantastic seafood bistro and cafe
with awesome views.

Picture postcard perfect. We spent a fabulous two weeks at Upton House in
August, with friends and parents and had the most fantastic time. The house
exceeded our expectations, with five good sized bedrooms and one of the most
enormous beds we have ever found, beautiful bathrooms that were beautiful and
clean. There is a really well equipped farmhouse style kitchen and lovely
conservatory where we spent much of the time. There is a great big inglenook
fireplace which we didn't use as it was summer but the woodburner would be
perfect on a cold winter's night. The house was light and airy and the
gardens were secluded and immaculate.
Nick, at Elite West who looks after the house, was a real star with nothing
too much trouble. He was such a help and we cannot rate his services
highly enough. Everything we asked him to arrange in advance like shopping,
surf lessons, wet suit and board hire was all ready for us when we arrived -
so a big thank you to him. The house is very close to the beach at
Widemouth Bay which is a good beach for children and the town of Bude is a
flat walk along the canal path. Bude was lovely with great restaurants and
good shops.
This house was a terrific find and we loved every minute of our stay there
and have recommended the place to several of our friends.
