Amazing! Relaxing and enjoyable stay in South Main neighborhood

Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We arrived in Buena Vista in the evening, and made our through a town lit up by holiday lights to the South Main neighborhood, a beautiful and thoughtfully planned extension of Main Street. The Clocktower, a bright focal point of the neighborhood, is just a block from the arkansas River and near-by trails; many restaurants and shops are also close by. The apartment perches on the second floor, under the clock, with views to the west of the open land climbing into the mountain ranges (amazing sunsets!). The owners, John and allison, have created a warm and welcoming home, with many hand-crafted and unique, thoughtful touches (e.g., the concrete counters are "homemade," and allison designed the patterns for the black & white tile floors). An open floor plan (full kitchen, dining area and living room) creates a perfect space for hanging out, and the bedrooms, in the rear of the apartment and building, are quiet. Extremely comfortable beds, we slept quite well; and in the mornings took a short walk to the near-by Buena Vista Roastery for coffee. We've visited BV previously, but this was our first stay at The Clocktower Flat. We felt totally spoiled staying here! Would've stayed longer if we could, and look forward to returning. other features/comments: all new appliances; t.v., sound system; selection of movies, books, games; the property is extremely well cared for; enthusiastically recommended!

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in December 2009

My first visit to Clocktower flat was on a cold snowy night in December and I was grateful for the warmth and beauty of this flat. Things I enjoyed: Stretching out in living room with a hot cup of tea. Sinking into the comfy bed and comforter for a very restful night. Waking to a sun-filled kitchen/living room and a cup of Buena Vista roasters coffee. Brilliant views of town and the Collegiate peaks from the balcony and main living space. After coffee, tumbling down to Main Street for food, art and a walk to the river through the friendly atmosphere of South Main.

I really liked the design for Clocktower Flat: colors, concrete counters, high ceilings, comfortable beds, clean and artful bathrooms, privacy and views, interesting art on the walls. Especially liked being right in South Main. Alison and John did everything they could to make my stay wonderful.

Would I recommend this property to friends and relatives...Yes! I am looking forward to returning with family and friends to cook a delicious meal in the cool kitchen!

      Beautiful Property!

Left on 08/08/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed the Clocktower Flat. This unit is very well-appointed, with everything you would ever think to need and more, especially in the kitchen. It was absolutely captivating to relax between the 5-foot tall windows with a lovely breeze blowing the sheers around. My family loved all the outdoor options available just feet from our front door. This is the first time I can remember that we were all active together, and loving every minute of it! Hiking, biking, rafting, yummy restaurants and friendly neighbors. The atmosphere was so relaxing, the scenery utterly beautiful, and the weather spectacular!

We definitely plan on returning, perhaps to enjoy the huge book and video collection during a winter stay!

Upstream from the back of South Main...there's a pool where kayakers can practice, and beautiful walking trails. Beautiful 30 minute drive to Cottonwood Pass, about 12,000 feet.

For the amount of money it was lacking in many areas.

Mountain Retreat with a Pub Down the Street

Left on 12/18/2010 for a stay in October 2010

Our family spent two great weeks at the clock tower flat. We've never had a more relaxing and fun-filled vacation. Thanks to the thoughtful design and decoration of the clock tower flat, and the relaxed feel of South Main, we found we could do everything the valley has to offer or nothing at all, and be equally contend in both. We certainly plan to be back to rent, if not buy in South Main.

Beautiful and contemporary flat with breathtaking views

Left on 10/23/2010 for a stay in October 2010

I highly recommend the Clocktower Flat as a perfect retreat and destination for anyone hoping to visit South Main or the Buena Vista area. South Main is a beautiful new development that has such a great vibe/feeling to the neighborhood. You can relax in the Clocktower apartment with stylish furnishings, a great tv/entertainment system, beautiful finishings in the rooms/kitchen/bathroom, and you really feel like you're in the center of South Main. It was great to have the Clocktower Flat as a place to come home to while we went out and explored Colorado during the day.

Definitely visit the Eddyline Brewery, it's just a short walk away and be sure to wake up early one morning and take a walk through the streets or down to the water as the sun is rising. I have no doubt that I will continue to visit South Main throughout my life. It is a special place that allows you to really relax, rejuvenate and connect with the natural world. It is a community that I am excited to watch grow!

Congratulations to the Clocktower Flat... it is extremely affordable, clean, stylishly decorated and the perfect location in South Main.

      We'd Definitely Stay again

Left on 09/22/2010 for a stay in September 2010

The Clock Tower apt. has an open, extremely clean, very pleasant feel; furnished eclectically with a contemporary flair. Just right.

Particularly nice that the furnishings do not necessarily mirror an owner personality therefore one doesn't feel intrusive upon another's home. Everything possible is provided for one's stay. Kitchen is well equipped, bathroom has toiletries. Wonderful reading selections fill the multiple bookcases. Tv, DVD, very, very comfortable bedding/beds.

Although the apt. is on one level, it is on the 2nd floor and reached via a long enclosed stairway after entering from the backyard, so if one has problems climbing stairs, it won't work. Also are no screens on the windows, although we opened them to allow the lovely fresh mountain air to circulate through the apt. and weren't bothered by bugs, but we were a bit concerned. A delightful, tiny balcony with double doors opens off the living room to the cobble stone street below.

The development has a pleasant atmosphere, albeit far from completed, but existing buildings have a "homey" look due to the "neighborhood" architecture. The development is next to the arkansas River without homes intruding upon the access, which is very nice, and there are miles of hiking/biking trails. A restaurant within walking distance of the apt. is convenient for lunch and dinner.

We'd definitely stay again. Beats a motel/hotel by a mile and the comfort and convenience justifies the extra expense.

Fabulous flat in perfect mountain location

Left on 08/11/2010 for a stay in August 2010

We stayed here for just one night and wished we'd booked a whole week (or month!). This perfectly-appointed home-away-from home strikes the perfect balance between elegant, high-end finishes and a welcoming and warm place to curl up and read a book with mountain views out of every window. The owners thought of every detail and whatever we needed was already available. It's a 3-minute walk to the arkansas River (literally that close), a 6-minute walk to a great restaurant, and more. Charming, comfortable, and thoughtful. We'll definitely be back.

Our stay at the Clock Tower condo was way too short. It really was a home away from home. We loved the floor plan, the abundance of windows with beautiful views, the comfortable seating and reading area and the lovely decor. What a wonderful place to return to after a day of snow shoeing or hiking. This just became our families favorite place to stay in Colorado. We will return often. I am reluctant to write this up for fear others will find out about it and it will be fully booked next time we want to stay. Please let this place stay our little secret.

      Dear Viewers,
I've just returned from a "Mountaintop Experience" at the Clock Tower in Buena Vista! With gorgeous views from every window, lovely appointments throughout, and an atmosphere of grace and charm, my friends and I were in '7th Heaven'. We loved the coziness of this special "nest" in a precious village setting - where good restaurants abound and deer roam the streets! I can't wait to return to the Clock Tower and have already begun talking to other friends about it!
I know you'll love it, too! Ashley Siewert

The clocktower flat was an enjoyable place to stay in the South Main neighborhood. It is fully furnished and has a well organized and complete kitchen for cooking. It is located a stones throw away from the new bouldering park and walking trails. You can see the South Main town square from the balcony. I would highly recommended this flat for a vacation rental.

Classic accomodations in a new urban community

Left on 01/08/2010 for a stay in November 2009

We stayed in the Clocktower Flat over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The flat is newly finished and feels very clean and fresh. It is up quite a long and semi-steep flight of stairs, so be warned it is not accessible for people who have trouble climbing stairs.

That being said, when you reach the top of the stairs the open-plan of the flat, with its light and good flow, is beautifully appointed. It feels sophisticated, yet warm and homey...lots of books shelves! There is a gourmet kitchen overlooking a sunken living/dining area staged in front of large windows with views of South Main and the Upper Arkansas River Valley. The hosts provide a nice flat screen television with full cable/satellite and a DVD player with a selection of movies.

There are two nicely-sized bedrooms with comfortable queen beds, nice linens, and plenty of closet and storage space. The bedrooms could use a mirror though, since there is only one bathroom.

The bathroom is contempory yet classic and clean in its feel and decor. Beautiful tile work is the highlight here. However, counter-space is limited, so you cannot leave your toiletries in there if there are a few people staying there.
There is even a compact washer and dryer for your use.

Love the doors in the flat by the way, they are recycled from an old college classroom building! Very cool. Ask the hosts about this.

Lots of neat stuff within walking distance...a real plus. There are locally-owned shops right near the flat and a GREAT brew pub right around the corner. You can also walk along a beautiful trail right along the Arkansas River and watch kayakers do tricks on the man-made elements the community has provided for boaters on this famous stretch of whitewater.

South Main is great community, that is still growing. There is a bit of an unfinished feel to the place, although construction noise was never an issue, so there are still empty lots, etc. But none of that detracted from our experience there.

Relaxing, cozy stay at the Clock Tower

Left on 12/13/2009 for a stay in December 2009

For all the trips we've made to Buena Vista, we've never had a stay as enjoyable as our overnight at the Clock Tower on South Main. The upstairs apartment is brand new, spacious and beautifully designed, with a great view off the balcony. We walked to the new Eddy Line brewpub and had a fantastic dinner. In the morning, we awoke to fresh snow, and had the riverside trail all to ourselves. We hope to stay at the Clock Tower again this coming summer, and take advantage of all the outdoor activities. A fun spot in a great location--we definitely recommend it.

Just got back from a fantastic stay in the Clocktower Flat. South Main is a sweet, quiet area with a delicious brewpub within easy walking distance of the flat. I enjoyed walking by the river (even saw a buck cross it!!), going to the local goat cheese store, and the ambiance and striking views of Buena Vista. The flat itself is comfortable and feels like home, while it is also extremely clean, and stylish. Living in the flat for 5 days, I appreciated the amenities, the washer, dryer, dishwasher, and the dishes, pots, pans, placemats, etc. provided by the owners to make this a uniquely comfortable and pleasant stay. If you intend to be in Buena Vista, or you just need a great escape to the mountains, I highly reccommend the Clocktower Flat as your place to stay!

Our stay in the Clocktower Flat was a delightful experience! The views out the windows were spectacular; the winter sunlight pouring in through the many windows mellow; the beds super comfy; the kitchen supplied with all the amenities to cook for a few large dinner gatherings. We enjoyed all the extra touches of lovely linens, a fun selection of books and magazines and Burt's Bees shampoo and conditioner. We so enjoyed the nearby historic town of BV, especially Serendipity with its wonderfully chosen selection of yarns and gifts and The Farm for its organic produce, meats etc. We hiked along the river and went horseback riding nearby. We will certainly be returning to Clocktower Flat as a wonderful destination point!
