The Log Cabin on Neil's Creek is situated on private land inside the Pisgah National Forest at the foot of Mount Mitchell in the high mountains. Cool rushing water, fresh mountain air. Neil's Creek rushes at a stone's throw past our 'settin' porch toward the headwaters of the South Toe River. Open the windows and hear the creek! Mt. Mitchell Golf Course is a mile away, as is Roaring Fork Falls. Just nine miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin is in a high mountain valley at 3,000 ft elevation. The terrain nearby is quite le...vel and an easy and beautiful walk, or you can hike a trail straight up to the top of Mt Mitchell.

Let us share with you the serenity of a place where time is measured in tree rings and wildflower seasons, where your most pressing appointment is to see a waterfall, and dream among mountains.

About an hour and 15 minutes drive from Asheville, the South Toe River Valley is an exquisite, fun, and friendly place to visit. The area is a photographer's sport or crafters delight. Places to see include Penland Art Center, Linville Falls, many local waterfalls, Blowing Rock, Boone, Little Switzerland, Spruce Pine, and Grandfather Mountain.

A log cabin vacation is not like staying in a hotel. There's no maid service. Sheets and towels are ready for you when you check in - but you will have to make your own bed! On the other hand, what is precious is the peaceful return to nature - the babbling of the creek, the freshness of the air and of the forest. You can sleep with the sounds of nature coming in your open window - except maybe in winter! And this is the beauty of a log cabin vacation - you have the full experience of nature, with the comfort of cooking in a modern, well-equipped kitchen, your own bathroom, and a real bed at night. Not to mention the coziness of a fire, and the comfort of both heating and air conditioning as needed.

Our cabin home (and your vacation getaway) is about 1100 square feet. There is one large bathroom with a full size washer and dryer, a dining area, and a game area. The cabin is located in a hemlock grove. While sitting on the deck, you are looking out over a rushing stream, while ridge-top views of the mountains (especially in winter) complete your experience in getting away from it all. Any time of the year, there's a whole wide world of nature to explore, or just to sit down and experience.

Join our regular returning guests in experiencing the relaxing qualities of nature, waiting for you any time of year. Here, time seems to stand still as you forget about deadlines more pressing than hiking or fishing.

The Pisgah National Forest includes a few select areas where private property still exists - this is one of them. Located between the Black Mountain Campground and the Mt. Mitchell Golf Course, our log cabin sits right next to a trout stream that runs 365 days a year. Even if you don't fish, the sound of the water will ease away those cares. Step out of the cabin and hike the Forest, see the nearby waterfalls, and enjoy the creek and the river. Walking is easy even for seniors as the area is flat. In front of the cabin is a parking area for your vehicle.

Special rate: the full weekend (Friday and Saturday) is only $275 plus tax ($301.81 total). There is never a charge for cleaning, and never a charge for your pet! Current sales tax rate is 9.75%.

  The owners of this lovely 2 bedroom cabin answered many questions before I had even arrived. The YouTube video does not do the site justice, the creek soothed my nerves.
  The cabin was spotless and all of the appliances were in excellent shape. The long porch facing the ridge was my favorite spot to sip coffee and enjoy the peace.
  Minor problems were taken care of quickly. I really appreciated the eco-friendly cleansers used within the cabin.
  Wifi kept me connected with family and friends.
  I have already booked my next stay...safe, clean and peaceful surroundings... My slice of Heaven. :-)

  Cabin on Neils Creek

  This is a wonderfully peaceful place,very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is well maintained with a great kitchen and fireplace. There is also a porch the length of the cabin that is right at the edge of a small creek. The cabin is nestled amongst the trees with a few other cabins along a gravel road. There is a nice golf course about a mile away and a tiny country grocery store where you can buy a limited number of items but usually has plenty of firewood for sale. We have enjoyed staying here during the summer and again in the fall. The Blue Ridge parkway allows easy access to hiking trails and other park attractions.

  Great winter get away

  I've been to Maggie and Lee's cabin on Neil's Creek several times in the fall and have always enjoyed the great 'home away from home' feeling and wonderful nearby hiking.
  This was our first winter trip and we're now converts! A beautiful cabin in the woods rather than a 'neighborhood' it was a great base to explore the Mt. Mitchell area.
  Would highly recommend - Just let us get our weekend booked first :)

  A great cabin with a "mountain get away feel." Love the open lay out of kitchen to living room. Wood burning fireplace. The cabin even smells great, nice woodsy smells, no overpowering tacky cleaner smell. The sound of babbling creek can be heard inside the house. A beautiful hiking trail you can walk to that goes long the Toe River, so pretty. Super close to Blue Ridge Parkway, water falls, and cute mountain towns. Nice owners that are helpful; they promptly returned a valued item we left at cabin. Kitchen is plenty stocked; the owners must love to cook. Cabin off a nice flat dirt road, so no feeling of being off a big noisy highway. With a little research, plenty to do in this area if you are one of those people that is worried about being away from a bigger place like asheville.

  My husband and I recently stayed at this wonderful Cabin. It was perfect... quiet and peaceful setting great for enjoying nature as well as a little peace and quiet. The Cabin itself was wonderful, fully stocked kitchen, bedding and even some fun games for the family to have some real together time. Don't miss this treasure...of the greater ashville area...and a great Golf Course settled in the mountains as well.

  Next to Heaven

  We have stayed at this cabin about 6 times over the past few years and find it to be the most peaceful place on earth. I am currently here as I write this.
  I can sit in the rocking chair on the wrap around porch for hours listening to the creek and watching the wildlife.
  The cabin is nicely furnished and 'green' clean. There is a great local golf course and the Blue Ridge Parkway just minutes from the front door. Asheville about and hour drive from the cabin and the trip will not disappoint !
  Maggie and Lee assure your stay is wonderful! I would live here if I could !
