      A very pleasant experience

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2011

The scene was set for a lovely homely stay at Porthole Cottage when we arrived to a warm friendly welcome from the owners. Margaret Moore and her husband had even gone to the trouble of setting the table for a welcome cup of tea, complete with brown bread and cake.

One thing that sets Porthole Cottage apart is that the Moores obviously use the facility as a holiday home themselves. It thus has useful extras such as a basic array of grocery items and cleaning materials, not to mention a wide range of videos and Dvd's.

The location is excellent for exploring the whole of Northern Ireland and adjacent areas of the Republic.

A lovely cottage in a superb setting

Left on 07/17/2011 for a stay in June 2011

The pretty gottage is in a wonderful area very close to the sea. It was easy to get to Bushmills Distillery and the Giant's Causeway by car, only a few miles, and very many other interesting sights. The cottage was clean amd very homely and the only thing I did not like were the 2 cast iron barns at each side of the front parkingn area, which I thought detracted from the views. Margaret Moore recommended some places to eat and they were excellent, I would definitely stay there again. I have wanted to go to Northern Ireland for a long time and the cottage is an excellent base from which to explore the famous area.

Louise Thanks for taking the time to review Porthole Cottage. Regarding the barns, one of them is down as I write and we are planning to make a feature of the space. I appreciate any suggestions on how I could improve my service to future guests.
      Regards

Everything you would want for a relaxing break/holiday

Left on 07/15/2011 for a stay in March 2011

My husband and I spent a relaxing week in this delightful well equiped holiday cottage in a beautiful location on the North Coast. We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable and the open fire was a bonus. It provided a wide range of dvds, vidoes, books and games to help us relax after a tiring day visiting the nearby famous attractions and beaches that the North Coast is renowned for. The owners were welcoming and very helpful. Definitely will be back again.

Really homely accommodation in a beautiful place

Left on 07/15/2011 for a stay in October 2010

Porthole Cottage is a short walk from the beautiful Whitepark Bay on the Causeway Coast of North antrim, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places you will find anywhere. It is also a short journey by car to the Giant's Causeway World Heritage site, Bushmills famous distillery, Royal Portrush Golf Course.

It is a great place for walks and relaxation and taking photographs with splendid locations all the way along the coastline from Ballycastle and the Carrick-a-Rede Rope bridge in the east to the Causeway and on to Castlerock and the Mussenden Temple to the west.

After an adventurous day the cottage offers comfort and every facility we could need.

I would certainly not hesitate to give Porthole Cottage a hearty recommendation. We look forward to going back for another visit.

Myself, wife and two grand-daughters have now stayed 3 times over the years. The large courtyard is ideal for the kids, plenty of space and no traffic. The location offers plenty of options along the route from Ballycastle to Portstewart and beyond. The cottage is comfortable, always clean and well prepared.
      No hesitation in recommending it.
