Baton RougeGreat little piece on earth
Left on 05/01/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We were looking for a laid back vacation this year. Somewhere nowhere is what my wife said. I started looking around at mountain areas on water and found this little jewel. Clean as a pin, perfectly situated to catch a picture perfect view of the lake and mountains. Melody's welcome package was full of things to do and her service a+. The canoe ride down the river was gorgeous, with water falls, caves and herds of wild turkey. We really enjoyed the hot tub each evening. You can tell somebody really loves this place and takes excellent care of it.
Romantic perfect for couples or family with small children. Great restaurants if you don't mind driving 20-30 minutes too.

toledoSnowy vacation!
Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013
My boyfriend and i stayed here, and got exactly what we asked for! a romantic getaway. when we stayed it was a bit cold and snowy, but this did not mean we had a great time. the hot tube was perfect! the views were great! we got a ton of fishing done, which was tons of fun! it was too cold to use the canoe, but next time this will be a must! i highly reccomend the dry hill general store. It was the closet to the cabin, a general store and homemade breakfast lunch and dinner. the owners are the nicest people we had ever met!
a little small, but wonderful! and yes ladybugs and ants, were around but there was bug spray. -

BostonAn autumn weekend
Left on 10/01/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Recently Jack and I spent the weekend at Driftwood. We got there after midnight. This place is only a 5 minute drive from hwy 321, easy to find and paved & the porch light was on. The next day we woke up with no game plan and reviewed the cabin information. I forgot about Melody mentioning the canoe ride down the river. We took the canoe which I had never done. It was all cherokee National Forest. Lots of caves and deer. An easy adventure. When you stay here this is a must. Everything was good and worked just fine. Small place but comfortable for a couple.

over all a good getaway if you want to be away from it all. Will need to remember to bring all the essentials at this property. Including double ply toilet paper, kleenex and ant spray. The new Bar B Queue needs to be repaired and matches would be a good staple not only for cooking but in case of a power outage. Lots of ants visiting inside the home. Needs a little TLC.
Relaxing area, great views of the mountains and the lake, hot tub was perfect, no cell services but there is a great internet connection. If we are ever in eastern Tennessee we would consider staying again.Response from melody wilt - 09/15/2011

Carmen,
Thanks for the kind words and the constructive ones too. So glad that you enjoyed the views and the Hot tub. Ants are definitely part of God's Country and up in the Cherokee National Forest they are a abundant. We have exterminators come monthly and provide each cabin with Ant Spray under the kitchen sink (some times it gets pushed back behind the other cleaners). Yes, a brand new gas grill was delivered & was missing a knob we had no idea until after you checked out and housekeeping was cleaning the grill after your stay and of course replaced it. No need to worry about a power outage all our cabins have back up generators. Yes, we are one of the few that provides toilet paper, paper towels garbage bags & detergents. One reason we do this is to lighten the load of what a guest has to bring. The other reason we provide Toilet paper is to insure it is septic safe, sorry if it wasn't what you were used to. Know for future stays Housekeeping and maintenance are always standing by to assist guests & provide their contact phone numbers in an extensive welcome package that every guest receives. We are so glad you would return and when you do expect a return guest discount and a big welcome. -

Our stay at Driftwood Cottage was romantic. It was only my husband and I the first few nights alone. We really enjoyed the view from our deck & private hot tub. Then our friends (another couple) joined us. We didn't rent a boat since money was tight but we used the canoe that came with our place. We took the canoe into the Cherokee national forest - the views were simply gorgeous. We pulled over several times to take pictures in front of caves and waterfalls. Then we paddled home. None of us had ever been in a canoe and if it hadn't been for this place probably would have never tried one but we did and loved it! The hospitality we received from Melody was wonderful. She is accommodating (we had to change our dates twice) and a pleasure to talk to. Everything she gave us in our welcome package was up to date, straight forward, information that was extremely useful. This place is easy to find and perfect for a romantic get away. Thanks so much Melody - we'll be back!
