Gig Harborwent to heaven
Left on 11/14/2012 for a stay in November 2012
I have been to several caribbean countries on vacations and found the place i want to come back to.Del arco is by far the best hotel/condo i have ever stayed in.The maid service, concierge, wait staff in all the restraunts, money exchange gals, bel service could not have been better. The 2 bedroom unit that we had for 7 nights was perfect in everyway. We indulged ourselves in all inclusive for three of the seven days we were there and now wish we would have done all seven. You cant beet the quality and quantity of the food in all in house retraunts. If you like real mexican food visit panchos in town and for good seafood the shrimp factory is awesome. The taxi to and from downtown is only a thousand pesos and the drivers seem to know where every restraunt and bar is at.For night life you have to visit cabo wabo and Squid roe. Both booming places and lots of fun. at squid roe they took a picture of the four of us sitting at a table and then put the picture of a pint of tequila. we didnt have to buy it but i did. like I said its lots of fun so enjoy it while you can. To sum up my experience, you cant beet staying at Villa Dek arco.. Mike

60946Great Place with a Pirate Ship to Boot
Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in October 2011
I stayed at Villa Del arco over the Columbus Day Weekend, having bought the trip from "Sniqueaway.com" on a lark. I had a one bedroom suite on the 3rd floor with a view of the beach and a few resorts on the way to the marina in downtown. At first I was pensive on the shuttle ride from the airport to the resort (CaboSanLucasTours.net - great prices about $35 and very secure, if you follow their directions out of the airport) but once I got there and saw the suite I knew that it was a real bargain. The resort is beautiful and the multiple pools are just great. Unfortunately, the pirate ship was undergoing some floor and railing refinishing so we weren't able to enjoy the view from the ship and a drink from "the buccaneers bar" but we were able to walk up the plank to look in and swim around the base. The ship did look great.
If you are going to stay there for longer than a weekend I suggest that you take advantage of the "Gold Card" - a discount card for the resort and some restaurants in town. The restaurants looked and smelled great but I didn't partake for dinners since I always went into town. I did order room service from La Perla for breakfast one day - just great! I also had drinks by the pool and a really nice mandarin orange and walnut salad for lunch - hit the spot while tanning. The beach is just beyond the main pool with 2 jacuzzis and between the two areas your tanning and watersports needs are fulfilled. There are also two other pools in the center of the horseshoe-shaped buildings. The spa would have been inviting had I had more time to spend there.
My suite had it's own jacuzzi, washer/dryer, a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a huge balcony. It's really nice in the afternoons and at night to have access to a large refrigerator to chill some adult beverages and keep snacks and appetizers cool. I can understand why some people have bought time in the resort. This is definitely a location that I could see returning to at least once a year. Another selling point of this resort is that it is one of two combined resorts next to each other that you can also visit and use as one location.
