My wife and I have done a fair amount of traveling during our 13-year marriage: Tobago, Acapulco, the Keys, Puerto Rico, and lots domestically. But this is the place we'll be talking about "for as long as we both shall live." It's one thing to be treated so well by a villa staff. But even better for us was the bond we all had, right from the start. It made for a full and relaxing experience. Yes, the food was phenomenal. The view from high on the mountainside, also phenomenal. Playing baseball with villagers on the villa's baseball field, unforgettable. So was the drive through the fruit fields. But the staff took it to another level of fun. If you want an insulated resort experience where pomp is more important than real culture, go to Punta Cana. But if you want a true Dominican experience with drives to undiscovered beaches and shoreside fish shacks and rarely-visited spots, this is the place. The Golden Dolphin will be with us forever.
