Additional Location Information
Located in the village of Cabuya, just down the road from Montezuma, the house is within very short walking distance of the ocean, two mini-groceries with fresh produce, meats and other items (soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc.) and several restaurants. There are also several local fishermen who sell fresh fish within walking distance
In Cabuya, there are several good little restaurants with reasonable prices (local food, sushi, seafood, homemade pizza and more). A little bar (Salon Higueron) is located at the crossroads and is a friendly little place that sometimes has live music. There is a gift shop and a little shop for fishing supplies. You can also visit the Rainsong Wildlife reserve and see their rescued animals. They also conduct horseback riding tours. You can rent ATV’s and ocean kayaks in Cabuya and there are several fishermen that are happy to take you out fishing for the day for a range of prices. Cabo Blanco National park is one of Cabuya’s claims to fame. You can spend the day hiking there (a hike that ends at a beautiful secluded white sand beach) and enjoying a variety of wildlife.
If you are looking for a more lively nightlife, Montezuma is only a few miles down the road. A small, but busy little Oceanside town, Montezuma has many restaurants and cafes. You can find anything from local fare to sushi, pizza, seafood and Thai food. Street vendors make the street look lively and colorful with their jewelry, pottery, hammocks and more. The long stretch of beautiful sand beaches in Montezuma are lovely. It attracts many visitors from Europe, the USA and more. From Montezuma, you can access horseback riding, zip lining, snorkeling tours, ATV rentals and more.
If you enjoy surfing, you can do it all around the area, but Mal Paiz/Santa Theresa, about four miles away, is one of the favorite surfing destinations in Costa Rica. Its amenities are spread out along a road that runs down the beach (it has a sort of “California surf town vibeâ€). There is also good high tide surfing in Cabuya, about one and a half miles down the road (Playa Sedro), but there are no surf shops there, so you need to bring a board or rent one in Montezuma. There are Spanish lessons in Montezuma.

New YorkThe Perfect Getaway
Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012
My husband and I stayed (and our two children) in this wonderful house and it was one of the best vacations we have had in a very long time! We were surprised at how beautiful the whole place was (grounds, house, pool area, everything), because although the pictures were nice, the reality was even nicer! It reminded us of a mini-resort. We were a little nervous about coming to Costa Rica for the first time, but the house owners helped us to book our transportation out to Cabuya as well as offered us so much information about the area, which restaurants were great and more. We felt very safe and relaxed there and it was so beautiful and comfortable that we spent a lot more time at the house, pool beach and grounds then we had expected! The bedrooms were lovely with comfortable beds and linens. The house layout was really nice with an open space in the middle for a living room, dining room and kitchen opening off to the side. The kitchen was well equipped with everything that you need and we loved the back terrace which overlooked the marvelous garden and had a hammock, large dining table (our favorite place to dine) and sitting furniture. My daughter used the Yoga pavilion everyday (I joined her a few times...what a great spot!). One day, a group of monkeys were watching us do our routine, I took some great photos!
The village was a secret treasure. Great markets, excellent little restaurants with very friendly owner/chefs and very natural with a lot of great hikes and activities to offer. We also took an aTV over the hill to Santa Teresa one day, which was fun, but I loved staying in Cabuya so much more than if we had chosen to stay there (we had considered it). Cabuya was more of a family vacation and eco-tourism destination with a real taste of Costa Rica. We just loved it and I think we were staying at the nicest place in the village! If you like wildlife, ocean, rainforest and a good combination of peaceful and adventure, you will love it here! -

Boulder, ColoradoGreat place!!

We had a terrific vacation at Casa Tranquilo!! It is a great house. All three bedrooms have a private bath of their own. We found it clean, comfortable, nicely decorated with local art, some mosaics, teak beams and ceilings, nice tile floors. The kitchen and baths were all artistic and very practical. We loved hanging out on the porch, just looking at the beautiful gardens, reading on the hammock feeling the evening breezes! My husband got to use the massage hut, when a local massage therapist came out to give him some post horseback riding back relaxation. It is set under mango trees in the shade. I used the yoga pavillion several times and enjoyed doing my morning exercise to the sound of tropical birds and monkeys. The pool is very beautiful with a backdrop of grazing horses and mountains. The owners were very helpful, setting up activities and giving us info. We would definitely love to come back again!!!

This place was fairly priced and clean. There was a mix up on the booking. So always keep that paper trail or as we did we open the laptop and review the confirmation and payments.
This was a yoga retreat residence with this nice 3 bedroom and 3 baths large kitchen and living areas. They did an excellant presentation of relaxation in their campus with a yoga hut we used as a dance floor to practice ballroom dancing. This house had a playful pool and a garden of eden status in the end of the earth of Costa Rica. I would recommend this to my family and friends. Good to take my elderly parents to get this wildlife adventure. -

Dryden New YorkBest place to stay!

My family and I stayed at this wonderful house in the village of Cabuya. We had an excellent vacation and really enjoyed how friendly and natural the village was. The house is lovely, decorated nicely (tropical colors) and had some special features (artistic wall of windows, artistic sinks in the bathrooms, artistic built in polished concrete table and countertops). It was roomy and comfortable, and the pool was beautiful. We saw so much wildlife right from the property. The owners were very helpful in recommending great places to dine in the village as well as other activities. We definitely recommend this place!
