Villa Guernica is a charming Provencal style apartment is the lower half of a villa situated on the outskirts of the medieval village of Haut de Cagnes. It is ideal for holiday rent with 2 terraces large enough for outside dining, there is private parking as well as street parking. The property has been recently renovated and is spacious with open an open plan style living area – broken up into a breakfast, dining and sitting area. There is a flat screen T.V with French channels. The kitchen is compact and in excellent condition allowing you to cook whilst enjoying the company of others seated at the breakfast bar. There is a large fridge,... oven, coffee machine, kettle and plenty of kitchen utensils.

The apartment has 2 good sized bedrooms, the first has twin beds (90 x 188) and has a totally renovated bathroom beside it with shower and w.c. The second bedroom is ensuite – it has a queen sized bed (160 x 200) and its own small bathroom with shower. There is a fold up single camp bed (90 x 190) available and there is the possibility to have a cot. The sofa (80 x 194) in the sitting room can also sleep an extra person – so all in all the property can sleep up to 6 people plus 1 baby.

The first terrace is situated in front of the front door off the garden area and the second is accessed from the dining area – they both have large tables with chairs so you can position yourself perfectly to enjoy the sun whilst dining outside or simply relaxing with a sunny aperitif. The view from the villa is onto the surrounding hills.

There is a second separate w.c.

Off the kitchen is a utility area with washing machine.

The floors are tiled and there is a free WIFI connection.

To access the apartment, you enter the gates from the street level, pass the upper part of the villa and descend down a ramp to the private independent entrance door of the lower apartment. Outside there is a garden area which slopes downhill.

Sheets and towels are available for €20 per person.

Small and medium sized animals are welcome.

Villa Guernica is a short stroll to a good selection of restaurants and the village's main square, which is a hive of activity during the warmer months. The town below is within easy walking distance, where you can find a boulangerie, food market, boutiques, supermarket, cafes, post office, etc. The free shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes from the town up the end of the road where the apartment is located, so that is also an option if you don't feel like walking.

This charming apartment is a 5 minute walk to Haut de Cagnes, the charming, fortified medieval village of Cagnes sur Mer – ideally situated between Nice and Antibes and only a short car journey from Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport and within walking distance to the sea.

You can find a boulangerie for warm fresh bread each morning and an excellent selection of restaurants for great dining close at hand - as well as a local food market, shops and outdoor cafes.  The area provides a perfect hopping on point to multiple destinations and attractions with its excellent rail and bus services.

Crowned with the original Grimaldi Castle, the enchanting medieval village of Haut de Cagnes with charming cobbled streets and remarkable ancient buildings transports you back in time to the 13th Century.  The serenity and simplicity found in these pretty French villages allows you to enjoy the sun, sea and breath-taking views in a very relaxed atmosphere. Known as the  ‘Montmartre of the French Rivieria’, Haut de Cagnes was the haunt of Renoir, Modigliani, Soutine, Yves Klein, Bardot and Cocteau. It’s easy to see why many famous artists lived or found their inspiration here, falling in love with the soft Mediterranean light and honest authenticity.

But this charming, perched village has so much more to offer, with its tiers of tiny streets, climbing soft stone walls and colourful houses bursting with history. On the main street and Place du Château, there are plenty of bustling restaurants and cafés plus numerous historical cultural events and colourful festivals are held during the year.

A short stroll down the hill will bring you to the town of Cagnes, which provides all amenities such as a boulangerie, a patisserie, a supermarket, post office, the main bus square and a wonderful covered food market. Close to the town centre lies the Renoir Museum, the Hippodrome for horse racing and Cros de Cagnes – the seaside resort of Cagnes sur Mer with its private and public beaches.

There is so much you can do without a car, such as; shopping in Cannes, people watching in St Tropez, perfume sampling in Grasse, gambling in Monaco, lunching in Italy and buying art in St Paul – all easily accessible and inexpensive with most bus journeys costing only €1. Or if you prefer to cycle along the coastline to Nice or Antibes by bike, bike hire is rarely far away. This rental property does provide parking so if you do have a car, you don't have to worry about finding a parking place during the busy summer months or paying hefty parking fees.

No 44 is a free navette, which runs up to the medieval village every 15 minutes from the town centre of Cagnes at Square Bourdet (the central bus station). It is ideal if you have luggage or shopping bags or when the weather is hot – it travels right up to the Château with a few strategic stops on the way, including the end of the street where this property is located.
