Do you want to experience authentic Italy? This beautiful 2 bedroom is located in the Calabria area of Italy (toe of the boot) in the town Gioiosa. Gioiosa is one of four beach towns, basically all joined together:

Locri, to the south, pop 13,000

Siderno, to the south, pop 16,000

Gioiosa, pop 7,000

Rochella, to the north, pop 7000.

This is the place to do that with all the comforts of home! This is a brand new 2 Bedroom Apartment.This unit is extrememly well decorated and appointed for total comfort. Master bedroom has a king sized bed, other bedroom a queen size bed, both high end matressess, the L shaped sofa... also converts to a double size bed. The dining room table seats 6 people.There are three balconies,all furnished and a shared pool..

Local wine...well can be as litttle as $1. litre (check out Micuicola Cantina...say Hi to Dominque, he can guide you on wine selection, and local handmade cheeses...you can also buy red or white wine directly out of their aluminum vats....ton's of fun, Dominque speaks english), ask about their Bergamot creams, soaps and essential oils...fabulous!

This is Italy in the south, this is where there is very little english spoken but a warm community. Buy your groceries at the Sunday open market from the local farmers,where tomatoes actually taste like tomatoes, sip an espresso in the square and watch the world go by, eat in authenic real restuarants, stay long enough and you will likely be invited into the homes of the local people for Spaghetti or Lasagne and some homemade wine, eat gelato everyday...go to the beach, discover the many beach towns and towns at the top of the hills at your own pace or join a guided tour.

Ride the train to the southern most tip of Italy(Reggio Calabria) and catch a ferry to Sicily.This is an undeveloped place in Italy, but this unit is in one of the new complexes just in the finishing stages. The owners are generally from Scottland, Ireland and the UK, great fun, interesting people if you wish to meet them, if not you can just experience this part of Italy on your own...it will captivate you!!

You will need to rent a car here and it is fun to drive around the tiny streets of Calabria...there is airport pick up service available for an extra charge and car rental just down the street from the apartment. On site key holder will help you with suggestions or car hire or anything else you may need!!

Getting there:

Ryan Air is now flying from many major cities in Europe directly to Lamezia Terminal Italy.

Fly direct from Toronto to Lamezia (seasonal availability Air Transat), have a pick up arranged (we can help with that) or rent a car and drive if you like...it takes about an hour.

There are so many things to discover, you can find them by turning on the little streets to see where it leads you and we can offer suggestions too!

A little tip to start: here in Gioiosa most places serve appertivo's, they are free when you buy a cappucino ($1.40CAD or one euro), just ask for them, they are wonderful...and you can have as many as you like, they will bring them to your table....good starting point Golosia...2 minutes down the hill toward the sea.Read more

Gioiosa, Ionica is a small village, the property is located half way up the hill from Gioiosa Marina (2 min driving) and the old town of Gioiosa, Ionica (2 minutes driving the opposite way), it is set in the beautiful hills of Gioiosa, but still close to everything, waiting for you to discover.It is surrounded by olive groves, lemon and orange trees. Farmers sell their vegetables along the streets and at the many markets, there is a market in each beach town everyday of the week. Authentic restuarants in places you would never dream there would be a resturant, little shops, and tiny winding cobblestone streets. The other way toward the Ionian Sea (2 min driving) you have the beautiful Sea, and many, many towns to discover, seemingly all linked into one, but with very differnt flavor in each. You can drive, take the bus or train to Sicily, Tropea and many, many other enchanting towns and villages. The Sea is beautiful and clean, sandy beaches and beautiful rocks, you can walk for hours on the beach and in off season you will have it all to yourself, except for a few fishermen along the way. The apartment/condo is brand new, gated with plenty of parking. Enjoy the authentic life of Southern Italy......

If you would like to stay for a month or more, please contact me discounts may apply. If you require a weekly cleaning service our on site management can arrange this for you. Out cleaning charge is required to ensure each person receives spotless conditions on arrival. Our key holder is local and lives a few blocks away, Carlos speaks English, Italian, Spanish as was a former tour guide. Carlos can arrange babysitting or private tours (for a fee) and will be there to help you with anything you may need.
