An extremely comfortable stay in a spotlessly clean house which included absolutely everything you might need.
Lovely big comfortable double beds. Paul and Iva couldn't have been more helpful explaining everything on our arrival.
If you can find a house of the same quality at better value I will be amazed. Excellent value for money. Can't wait to go back. -

we stayed in the Sunny House East with the covered last floor terrasse and barbecue. The house is located in about 1 minute walk from the coast street within banana fields, it is well equiped and the owners are very friendly and helpful.

With regards to “a few insects in the house” the house is cleaned to a high standard but in a semi-tropical climate all year round its possible to see some insects around the house. We live close to the house and if you had brought this to our attention we could have given you some guidance quickly on this including some insect killer if that was necessary!
Thanks for writing that you would recommend this accommodation to your best friend and that the information we gave you at check in and in the Information Folder was very good and helpful! We hope that you will return to Madeira soon.

Sunny house was by far the best holiday apartment we have ever stayed in. Everything a holidaymaker could possibly need is provided and to an exceptional standard. This is true as the location is perfect either for a relaxing holiday or activity holiday with opportunities for many ocean and land-based activities from the fishing village with a small harbour and famous walks such as the PR19 and ancient Ladeira Walk to Faja da Ovelha in the village. And again with the fast new roads nothing is far away.

Sunny House East worked perfectly (not suitable for people with knee problems!). A bit remote - but easy driving to anywhere. Lots of sun on the terraces. Paul and Iva were very helpful. Fine supermarket in Calheto.

It was the first time that we visited Madeira and it won't be the last one. We had a fantastic, relaxing holiday. The house is located in the middle of banana trees and offers a fantastic mountain view. The house had everything you need to spend a nice holiday including a fantastic ocean view and a terrace to relax or to have a delicious barbecue. The owners Iva and Paul are very friendly and helpful.

We do not understand your comment “for a beach holiday you should choose another location..” There are FREE black sand beaches in the village and other swimming areas and within 10 minutes there are the FREE white sand beaches at Calheta town.
We think perhaps you mean if you want kilometres of white sandy beaches as on the other inhabited island then you should go to the other island Porto Santo.

What a lovely place among the banana trees and a minute's walk to the ocean. The photos don't do it justice. My husband and nine-month old daughter and I stayed for a week, and were very pleased to have found the place. The views are spectacular, and the apartment/house is spotless and well-equipped (including with a real baby cot and beautiful linens for baby and adults alike). Iva and Paul were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There's a good mini mart and bakery in the town, along with a very good seaside restaurant. The beach in Calheta is good for kids and there's an excellent supermarket there. Nearby to walks, easy to get to other towns and into Funchal. Highly recommended!

Sunny House is in a fantastic location in the middle of a banana plantation about 50 yards from the sea. Inside it is very comfortably furnished, with 2 sizeable double bedrooms + a single. There's a kitchen, bathroom & a pleasant lounge on the ground floor: no views from this room, though the location means it's sheltered from the heat. But the real highlight is the terrace on the second floor, which has lovely views of the sea (spectacular sunsets every evening) & the cliffs behind.
Paul do Mar is in an awesome location: you drive through a 2.5 km tunnel & come out on a flat piece of land totally surrounded by cliffs & sea. It's peaceful & atmospheric - but also a good base for exploring the western half of the island. We loved walking along the sea wall, with waves crashing on our right & the cliffs on our left, to the friendly bar/restaurant half a mile away which did very reasonable meals.

wow, what a house! perfect view, not too much tourists, nice bars right in front of the atlantic ocean and enough place in the house itself.
during the night you can hear 100s of Corey's shearwater flying to the breedings places and also the barn owl is common in paul do mar. so for bird watchers a perfect stay! -

Sunny Hse East provided us with one of the best holidays we have had in years, we had everything we needed in the house nothing was missing, added to this we had sun everyday with sunbathing on one balcony and shade on another - perfect. The views were wonderful and the tranquility of the area made for a really relaxing week just was what needed. Thank you Paul & Iva for the airport transfers and all the information provided, only thing we learned car hire is essential, having said that we will be back with or without car as we fell in love with house and the area

Sunny House far exceeded our expectations. Enjoyed breakfasting and BBQ on veranda. Despite feeling isolated initially, we soon found that we were able to conplete many circular walks (3-5 hour walks some steep!)easily from the house. The supermarket and bakers in the village were useful. There was plenty of places to eat in the small harbour and along sea wall.
Our host, Paul was a brilliant help. He put us on the right track from the first day and introduced us to staff at the Hotel Jardin alantica. They assisted us with the hiring of a car for the latter part of the week,£125.00 all in for 3 days including airport drop off. We recommend the salon facilities of the hotel, massages fantastic.
The village was quiet with many locals and few visitors. Felt safe and welcomed. Enjoyed swimming in the sea from the little jetty.
We woldn't recommend the house to families with small children due to the ceramic flooring and 3 flights of stairs, but for groups of adults its perfect.

Sunny House was extremely clean, well-equipped, reasonably priced, and beautifully located in a charming town. It is a great base for hiking, swimming, and exploring the wonderful towns and cities in the area. This place if for those wanting to avoid hotels and mass tourism. Paul and Iva were very accommodating and helpful. Our entire family, including our 12 and 17 year old daughters, had an unforgettable experience, and hope to return.

The best part of Sunny House West is sitting on the top terrace watching the sun set on the sea. If it is windy the same beautiful view can be seen from the upstairs reading lounge, which is light and sunny.We particularly liked the simple cheerful decor in the house especially the top two floors. The house can comfortably accommodate 5 people. The owners are very welcoming and kind, with a welcome fridge pack and bottle of wine.
There is plenty of hot water for showers and washing up. The kitchen, although compact is well equipped. We had a lovely time and felt refreshed after our week. -

This was the first time that we had booked a holiday property directly with the owners, but from the start it was a very positive experience.
Sunny House West is spotlessly clean, well-equipped and well-maintained - a real 'home from home'. The accommodation and the location more than matched the description on the website and exceeded our expectations. Set within a banana plantation, Sunny House West is ideally suited for a peaceful, relaxing holiday, with views of the ocean to the front and of the mountains to the side and back. How wonderful it was to sit on the balcony and watch the sun set!
Paul do Mar is a lovely place. It is quiet but there are plenty of places to enjoy a drink or a meal, all within easy walking distance. There is also plenty to do in the area. It's well placed for exploring the south west coast of Madeira. Within ten minutes we were able to drive to the beach at Calheta, the Calheta to Ponta do Praga levada, or the mountains. Funchal and Monte are only an hour's drive away.
The owners could not have been more friendly and welcoming. They clearly take customer care very seriously and are passionate about Sunny House West and Madeira - and why wouldn't they be! Even before we arrived they sent information about the island and things to do. The directions from the airport were easy to follow. When we arrived they took the time to show us where everything was and how to work things like the cooker and TV. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
A week wasn't long enough at Sunny House West - we will be back!
This was the first time that we had booked a holiday property directly with the owners, but it won't be the last.

Die Unterkunft "Sunny House" war wunderschön. Das Haus ist sehr sauber. Man hat einen schönen Blick auf das Meer. Fam. Abbiati war jederzeit mit vielen auskünften über die Insel und die Sehenswürdigkeiten für uns da. Im Restaurant "Beia" kann man sehr gut Essen. Die Orte Porto Moniz, Sao Vincente und viele andere sind auch sehr sehenswert.
Es war ein erholsamer Urlaub mit viel Ruhe und wunderschönen aussichten auf das mehr. -

We stayed there for a week and it was absolutly fantastic! The view from the balcony is amazing, the BBQ is very useful especially during the summer!! The location, in the middle of banana fields, 1min from the ocean, is perfect, it's very quiet!! Inside, it's very clean and the decoration is very nice. Nothing wrong about that house and the owners Paul and Iva are very nice and very helpful. If you want to go to Madeira, you have to stay there!! This part of the island is absolutly gorgeous. It's ideal for couple or even family with children or just go there with friends, you won't regret it!! Thaks to paul and Iva for this great week!

We enjoyed relaxed vacation nearby the Ocean. Good base for walks (if you have a car), evening swiming and sun set on terrace with grill and view over ocean. Enough space for the whole family (stairs my limit disabled people). All we need was available. Owners are easy going and service oriented.

"We were unsure of what to expect on this holiday, however we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of Sunny House and the huge amount of effort that Paul and Iva went to, to make our holiday a success.
Sunny House is spotless, comfortable and is a very well equiped holiday home. It is close to the sea and has a lovely view from the barbeque area and upstairs rooms.
Paul went to a lot of trouble to organize kayaks for us and we enjoyed fishing and snorkeling a few minutes walk from the house.
Paul do Mar is a very peaceful friendly village, although there is plenty of entertainment for all ages. There is a selection of restaurants and a few pubs, a charming coffee shop and bigger towns are a short drive away, although we preferred spending as much time in the village as possible. There are many fabulous walks and the scenary is amazing.
We highly recommend a holiday to Sunny House and thank Paul and Iva for their fantastic hospitalty and kindness.

It's a quiet & relaxed place. All we heard was the sound of waves and the singing of the birds in the gardens. It's a very good place for relaxation.
There was nothing we did not like. We liked the warm welcome when we arrived. Really. My English is not good enough to say it. But, when we stayed here we felt like being at home. Everything was at it's place and it was very comfortable.It's a very beautiful house! -

Sunny House, keeps the promises from the description in all directions. The owners are very friendly and courteous. The house is in very clean condition, adequarte furnished/equipped and the location excellent. In the middle of the bananas is the right wording. You can harvest them right from the front door (but they are green, better to buy some in the next supermarket). The surrounding is spectacular. 300 to 400m cliffs in the backyard and always a free oceanview from the main terrace. It is a very quiet and rural place in a little village.
Do not expect cub's, discotheques or other signs of mass tourism. This place is recommended to nature lovers and people, who need pure real relaxation with or without children. The only minior point - the next real supermarket is 15 min by car, but for small shopping (food) a local store and a bakery is availiable.
Recommended for: Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children

We enjoyed our stay in a nice and well cleaned house. The ocean is nearby and you can get the "sundowner" from the terrace with a view of the Atlantic.

We spent wonderful holidays in Sunny House at Paul do Mar. There is a best-equipped kitchen with all you can wish (refrigerator, freezer, micro wave, water heater, washing mashine, modern stove) which is absolutely clean like also the big white bathroom with many towels that are exchanged regularly. The rest of the cosy house is comfortably and well furnished, TV and DVD-Player, all is new and fine. Two terraces invite to have dinner outside in the long warm evenings with 4 chairs and deck chairs. It lies between a banana garden and is absolutely quiet. The owners are very friendly and helpful in every situation.. The only thing we missed is that there is no internet access in the house. We can only warmly recommend Sunny House! It`s the warm south-west coast, and there are not so many tourists like in the south-east coast.

We would like to recommend this beautiful house to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in Madeira at a very good location. Paul do Mar is a place with breath taking views and very easily accessible. The house is equipped in everything you might need on holiday, so it's better to check and ask the landlords before you take loads of things with you. However, renting a car is quite essential as you might have problems getting around. Paul and Iva are very nice, friendly people and it was a real pleasure meeting them

Our first stay in Madeira, 10 days during christmas time. We gained all experiences as possible in Madeira, the full program,delayed flight from Lisbon because of a closed airport in Funchal, a lot of rain and wind or storm, every day but we felt immediately in love with that green island. And we had a real great time in the cosy house of Paul and Iva. It is ideal located on the west side of Madeira, without any tourists and noise around, calm place, beautiful, stunning views from top of the hills, one is very close from the terrace of the restaurant "O Precipicio".
We have been so happy after cold christmas holidays in Cyprus, Malta and Lisbon now to find a place where it is warm, kind of tropic feeling, also at night time and with rain. And here the rain did not bother us.
The house is well placed for tours by car. Paul do Mar is very centrally located for exploring every corner of the island.
The owners Paul and Iva were really friendly. After our delay of the flight we arrived after midnight and Iva offered to pick us up at Funchal airport in case the car rental office would be already closed. Also after our little crash with the car Iva was there for us to support us at the police station.
We have no hesitation in recommending Sunny House for a holiday to relax to the full and we would like to return this year again for christmas.

We spent two fantastic weeks at Sunny House. The house is beautiful and has peaceful surroundings. It was also very clean and had everything we needed during our stay. We loved sitting on the terrace watching the sunset and listening to the waves. Paul do Mar is a real Madeira village with nice people. Its advantage is being away from the tourist areas, yet it has enough services, e.g. a mini-market and a couple of bars. The dinner we ate at Paul do Mar Hotel was tasty and romantic with an outdoor table and ocean view.
We explored the beautiful surroundings by car and hiking. Afterwards the Calheta beach, only 10 minutes drive away, was very welcoming.
The owners, Iva and Paul, are very friendly and service-minded. We would really recommend Sunny House for every nature lover.

“Sunnyhouse West war der perfekte Standort für unseren Aufenthalt auf Madeira. Das Haus ist komplett und reichlich ausgestattet ausgestattet, absolut sauber und top in Ordnung. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend.Die Lage absolut ruhig und trotzdem sind von dort alle Punkte der Insel schnell zu erreichen. Unvergesslich die Abende auf der Dachterasse mit Atlantikblick und den Rufen der Cagarros. Die Unterkunft ist sehr zu empfehlen!!
Best place to stay on Madeira. Quiet but even near to all interesting places on the island. The house is situated in a little banana garden, very clean and there was all we needed. Great momments...sitting on the terrace and watching the sunsets and listening the sounds of hte Cagarros flying above us.The owner are very friendly and helpfull and living near by.
