Additional Location Information
Camber Sands beach is a two-and-a-half mile stretch of golden sands enclosed by picturesque dunes only two hour’s drive from central London. The unspoilt beauty of the beach as well as its sheer size have made it a popular location for fashion photo shoots, Kate Moss appeared in her famous first shoot with Corinne Day there and films including doubling as the Sahara Desert in a ‘Carry On’ film and as the Dunkirk evacuation beaches in several war epics. At low tide the sea can be as much as half a mile from the dunes which makes it a popular location for horse-riding and kite-buggying. The clean and shallow water makes it ideal for children.
Camber sands is being newly rediscovered as a UK holiday destination of choice and was voted number 9 of the 100 Best Beaches in the World by The Sunday Times Travel Magazine.
With constant winds coming straight off the sea and from the vast expanse of the Romney Marshes, Camber has become a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts whilst the west winds and shallow sea make it a great place for kitesurfing. Windsurfing, water ski-ing, wakeboarding and jet ski-ing are all available locally either from the beach or on a large coastal lake just outside of Camber. There is also sailing on the river Rother 3 miles from Camber.
For swimming, the beach boasts a yellow flag award from the MCS, the highest UK award for water quality standards. Golf lovers are well catered for with an impressive 44 courses within a 30 mile radius. Tennis courts and bicycle hire are also available locally. There are many local walks with natural and historical points of interest. The village of Camber has a couple of pubs including The Dunes café and restaurant, and the award-winning The Place at the Beach Bar and Grill offering a range of delicious dishes made from local, free range and organic ingredients. The Rye Bay Beach Cafe also offers guests a further dining option within walking distance of White Sands.
No stay is complete without visiting the medieval Cinque Port of Rye, home to many beautifully preserved historic buildings from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times including the medieval church and the Ypres Tower (castle). Rye’s enchanting cobbled streets are lined with historic inns and restaurants as well as a host of unusual shops selling antiques, collectables, local produce and works by the town’s many resident artists and potters. The town plays host to many events throughout the year including the famous Arts Festival each September and bonï¬re parade each November.
Whether you are looking to discover the charm and history of the medieval Cinque Ports, castles and battle grounds or just breath in the fresh, exhilarating sea air, at White Sand you can relax in a luxurious environment nestled between internationally significant grassland and one of the worlds finest beaches, these distinctive holiday homes are ideally situated just a stone’s throw from the beach, White Sand is a canvas for you to create your own holiday.

It may not have a spiral staircase and an annoying flashing beacon on the roof, but The Light House in Camber Sands certainly lives up to its name. Great modern design and an extended kitchen-diner that led out to the back patio gives the property a lovely airy feel.
Three bedrooms (one en suite), an uptairs bathroom and a downstair toilet mean no fighting among the kids (or dad), while a 40in plasma screen and PS3 with a great selection of family Dvds and games will stave off boredom when the bad weather sets in.
Not that we had any of that, despite our five-night visit coming at the end of October. It was surprisingly mild, if a little breezy when walking the beach, but then this could be the ideal time to visit because that beautiful stretch of sand is practically yours alone.
The house is set in a new-build estate (White Sands), quiet and very New Englandy, justa five-minute stroll from the many paths that lead over the dunes and onto the beach. Rye, one of the most picturesque towns you'll ever come across, is four miles down the road, while within a further 20 miles you've got Hastings, Bexhill-on-Sea and Battle, all well worth a visit.
All in all, I can't recommend The Light House highly enough as a base for exploring the area. Everyone raves about New England (including me, I spent my honeymoon there!), but we shouldn't forget we have the real thing on our doorstep. A real pleasure. -

Myself and my fiance stayed at the Lighthouse for our Summer holidays and didn't wamt to leave. The house was perfect, modern and airy with all the mod cons and accessories we could possibly need. My fiance loved the media centre in the living room and I enjoyed prepering all our favourite meals in the gorgeous kitchen. The location was amazing, it really was just a couple of minutes walk to the beach, and the beach itself was breathtaking! We explored the local area, feel in love with pretty Rye and explored further afield, visiting Hastings, Battle and Dungeness. The weather was kind to us too which helped. We will be rebooking soon!

We had a very enjoyable stay at The Lighthouse let by Beside The Sea Holidays. The house (which is pet friendly whilst maintaining a high standard of finish and cleanliness) is gorgeous. The PS3 was a big plus point for the kids and the White Sands area in which the cottage is located makes for a very beautiful setting indeed. I loved the open plan kitchen diner with conservatory extension which just opens up the room into a wonderful light warm space. We enjoyed Bbqs on the decking area and fun in the sun playing on the dunes and on the immense stretch of beach at Camber Sands. A lovely beach holiday and a beautiful house. I have already recommended this and other www.besidetheseaholidays.com properties to friends family and colleagues.

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed your beautiful house - it was immaculate - so clean with all mod cons and the decor totally stunning - with hair dryers in every room no less! - we loved staying there and will definitely re-rent it in the future so thank you.
We loved the area too - it really is 2 minutes walk from wonderful beaches and luckily fabulous weather. Loads to do in the surrounding areas too.
All in all a wonderful break - and our favourite dinner haunt was The Green Owl - amazing food. -

Wow!!
Thank you so much for an amazing stay at the beautiful Lighthouse in Camber.
From the moment we arrived we were so well looked after with a spotlessly clean home, wonderful informative welcome pack and a stunning comfortable home to make ours for a week.
The Lighthouse is in a perfect location, a stones throw from the beach. Even on a cold day, this beautiful beach can be appreciated in its full glory.
We spent days in picture perfect Rye, a short drive. Battle and Hastings is a must too.
The Lighthouse met our every need and offered quite a few luxeries too. Inc Play station, DVD player, books and general luxery living.
There really is nothing this house does not offer.
We all had such a wonderful stay and have been highly recommending this holiday leeting to all our friends and families.
Bravo to you all on giving us the best, most relaxed and easy holiday since having the children.

BedfordA brilliant house in a perfect location near the beach
Left on 01/07/2011 for a stay in December 2010
We had a really lovely weekend in this house. We stayed with 6 adults, 2 young children and 2 small dogs. There was enough space for everyone and the house was well equipped with everything we needed.
The bedrooms were fine and the bathroom/ensuite were great.
We really wanted a place where we could spend most of our time on the beach and this is an ideal location for this. The beach is stunning and we all had a great time.
If you are after a beach holiday this is a perfect rental for you.

Left on 01/06/2011 for a stay in December 2010
I have just returned from our second consecutive Christmas at the Lighthouse with friends and family and we all concurred what a truly wonderful experience it was. So much so that we have already booked for next Christmas!
What is there not to love? - from the lovely beach walks on Camber Sands only 5 minutes walk away (and recently voted one of the top 100 beaches in the world), to the lovely food and sparkling prosecco at the nearby Gallivant Hotel, to the House itself - so well appointed, tranquil, cozy and beautifully furnished. The Lighthouse is only 10 minutes away from Rye by car so we were never short of lovely things to do. The whole experience was truly magical and Santa managed to find us without too much difficulty! -

We had a brilliant time at the Light House cottage. Lovely light spacious modern layout. . Great size TV with DVD / play station. Lots of cutlery and crockery which is excellent. The kitchen layout is fantastic whilst cooking we could chat to others at the dinning table.Like a home from home.
2 mins walk away from the Gallivant (formally The Place on the Beach) where we saw in the New Year with a fabulous 7 course meal disco and fireworks on the beach.
New Years Day we had a lovely walk on Camber beach and could not believe the amount of people doing exactly the same thing!!
We had a brilliant time and would definitely recommend or indeed stay again.
