What Past Guests Are Saying
Cosy and Convenient
This was a really great find! We were competing at the Head of the Charles and needed a place that was comfortable, had public transportation to the race course and that had interesting places to eat within walking distance. This house delivered. It was 1/2 hour by bus to the course, Davis Square was a great place for food and the house was very comfortable. Our favourite spot was the kitchen/TV room which was cosy and a great place to discuss the day's events. The bedrooms were fine - the bed in the master bedroom was tiny! Having two bathrooms was great - one had a bathtub the other a shower - so all preferences were met.
A lovely stay away from the hustle and bustle
We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely Cambridge rental home. It really was a charming home and was very cozy.
Strengths for our stay-nice spaces to be able to spread out and not be in the way of each other. Space was interesting and charming. Notes throughout the house and the "guide" that was there were helpful in navigating. When we had difficulty finding the house, which was totally due to our lack of schema for the area, the emergency person we called was incredibly helpful. The kitchen was a great space.
Suggestions-only being able to park for 3 days was tricky. Typically when we have stayed in "homes" such as this, the kitchen is stocked with basics (spices, olive oil, vinegar). This was not the case so cooking anything interesting was expensive. Disclaimer-they did not claim that the kitchen would be stocked with these basics-just our experience in other places. Hoping to stay there again and will try and pack some spices.
Enjoyed from the first to the last minute
This is a very nice house, well-equipped and -maintained. We stayed there for 1 week with 2 couples and 1 child, for a workshop at Harvard and some leisure, it was optimal for our purpose. We enjoyed our stay from the first to the last minute. There were even lots of toys for the kid. Preparation by email correspondence was professional, all necessary information arrived well in advance. We also found the price extremely reasonable in view of the Boston/Cambridge area hotel prices. The location is great for Cambridge; Harvard is 10 minutes by bus or 45 walking. The Mtba Red line, connecting to Boston, is 5 minutes away. If one looks for possible improvements, a place to leave clothes and bags in the 4-bed bedroom would be useful. The stairs are rather steep, the handrail could be better. But that are tiny things which did not really bother us. I gave 4 stars for comfort because there's no luxury, but we did not look for it either. I gave 4 stars for value because excellent value does probably not exist in the area. The location was excellent for us but I guess some people prefer it more central.

We totally enjoyed ourselves! We had a little trouble getting enough towels for our group but the service agency did their best to help us out.
The washing machine was broken when we arrived but it was fixed promptly.
It was ok
House was clean neighborhood was kind of run down. Tv for kids was horrible didnt get any channels
Response from Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony - 07/11/2013
Thank you for your feedback. Cambridge is a city with a broad range of housing options. This house is located in north Cambridge in a well-maintained neighborhood of modest homes. The house is equipped with cable TV. We’re so sorry if there was a problem with the cable service. If we had known, we would have had it taken care of it during your stay!
Feels like home
We stayed in this house for four nights with our two kids (age 11 and 13). The house is great for a family of four, plenty of room for everyone. We love everything about this house. It's very close to the minuteman trail, Davis Square, Porter Square. We totally enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend staying here.
The only small complain we have is that it might be nice to provide with some laundry detergent as there is a washer/dryer in the house.
Good location for access to Boston. Spacious property with small deck for outdoor eating. Great pizza at the end of the street. Older property. Second bedroom needs attention.
You want to stay here
We really enjoyed this comfortable apartment. The furnishings are interesting, the space is great, having a laundry is a huge plus and the proximity to the T is good (a 10 minute walk). I would say the only negative I could give is we couldn't figure out how to operate any of the exhaust fans in the home, not the bathrooms or the kitchen. Other than that, we have a comfortable stay and would recommend.
Convenient & Charming Lodging
This older house has wonderful access to the Davis Square T (subway) station (red line). Our family of five flew into Boston and did everything, including get our bags from the airport to the house, on foot. It's one block off Massachusetts ave, less than a mile from a grocery store, and within walking distance of several restaurants.
Beds were comfortable and the house was generally clean. Although it is an older home, the kitchen, including appliances, & bathrooms are updated. The master bedroom (double bed) is nicely decorated. The second bedroom has bunk beds and a queen bed. I would suggest this room receive a bit more attention -- clean off the shelves and store some of the items (toys & office materials) elsewhere.
It was a real convenience to be able to fix simple meals and do laundry. We would definitely reserve this home again.
We had a most enjoyable stay. The house was very well appointed and we felt super comfortable in this home away from home. Great location.
Exactly as advertised
Everything about this rental was exactly as advertised. We had a few tiny minor issues that were quickly resolved by the agency, and, in one case, the owner herself. The house certainly has a 'lived in' feeling, but clean and comfy overall. Great location, we used two nearby subway stops and the Mass ave bus constantly. Felt safe walking after dark. The only thing I could have wished for was a grill on the patio.
This house has a wonderful homey feel. After a day sightseeing we all said lets go home. The stairs are a little tricky so anyone with a knee problem has to be extra careful. We all had a great stay and it was within 8 minutes walking to the subway, and only 4 stops right to boston commons. All the restaurants within walking distance from the house are great. Would defintly stay there again and I have already recommended it to friends. The only draw back are the curtians in the den could use a change. They were dry rotted and torn, but that was not a big deal. Parking on the street was real easy. Lots of spaces to choose from. All the neighbors were very nice.
We felt as agroup that the accomodation was ideal.Only 15mins from MIT by car and plenty of eateries on Mass ave to choose from.Very hot when we went so air con didnt work very well.Over all would recommend house for others to enjoy.Very clean and well presented with access and exit procedures well documented.Parking Permit was great too.

Peaceful, relaxing and convenient home
Stayed a week in this very nice home convenient to everything. The service was great. The home was very comfortable and included a parking pass for our rental which made it easy to come and go. The kids mentioned that it was very much like home.

The service from Bed and Breakfast assoc Bay Colony was first class from start to finish. They made our reservation from the U.K very easy.
The apartment was ideal for our needs. It was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Its location with regard to the T at Davis was ideal, with easy access to Boston and all that it offers. The neighbours were very friendly and welcoming.
There are good amenities within the surrounding area with regard to shops and restaurants Both on Massachusetts ave and in Davis Sq.
We found the whole experience very enjoyable

Great place to stay.
We had an excellent time staying in Cambridge. A great house, very comfortable and convenient for transport into Boston. Highly recommended.
cambridge ethnic chic!
To stay in this beautiful and astonishingly decorated house was total luxury!
It was great to have the confort and facilities of you own home.
Very close to Porter underground and to harvard square (only a few bus stops away), it was convenient for shopping, dining and sightseeing.
A total pleasure!

Great place to stay while visiting Boston area.
This house was the perfect place for my family. We had plenty of room, and the kitchen was great! It was nice to be able to come back and relax at the house after a busy day sightseeing with 3 kids. The kids stayed entertained by the toys in the "kid's room". The kids were a little apprehensive about sleeping in the top bunk because it didn't have a bed rail, but with the bottom bunk and the extra queen bed in the room, it wasn't a problem for us. I loved Cambridge, and we enjoyed walking to nearby restaurants and shops. The house is not very close to the T - there is a bus stop just up the street, but we didn't take the time to figure the schedule out. We rented a car so we could see more of the entire area, so the parking pass was one of the options that made us choose this house. (Do read the parking signs very carefully.) We did park at Harvard Square one day and took the train into Boston, but parking was pretty expensive.
We had a really great time - I told my husband I was ready to move to Cambridge after our stay there!
good value for money
in a nutshell everything was rather good.
we didn't have any problems with checking in, parking etc.
the rooms are clean, tidy.
for the price it offeres it is excellent accomodation in Boston.

Excellent vacation rental
This house was a wonderful place to stay and comfortably and beautifully suited our needs. The house is conveniently located close to public transportation - as well as to a wonderful market. We loved it here! Thank you!
a lovely retreat
We loved everything about our stay in this amazing cottage. The rooms were equisitely decorated, yet extremely comfortable -- we felt at home instantly. The cottage is conveniently located to mass transit as well as local shops, yet the street was very quiet at night. We were sad to leave when our vacation was over!
