Our family cant thank you enough for the memories made at captains quarters this summer. This was the first time getting away with the entire family (kids grandkids, grand parents, etc) and it was propabaly the most memorable week our family has ever spent together.
The house was absolutely perfect! Clean, beautifully furnished, amenities for all ages and the most spectacular grounds and views for the entire family to enjoy. We are already planning our stay for next summer and hope to come back this winter as well for a long weekend. Thank you thank you thank you! -

Wonderful place to stay!

I would not change a single thing. Our family enjoyed the six day stay at this awesome place. The amenities were great, the location was central to other sights, and the accommodations could not have been better to serve our family of 22.
I would highly recommend this location, was well worth the price! -

There are many pros to staying at Captains Quarters.
*Spacious interior
*All sheets and towels were included in the cost of the rental. So nice to not have to worry about that.
*Plenty of Beds and Bathrooms
*2 kayaks and lifevests
*Enclosed Pool right behind your house
*Bedrooms were spacious
*Hangout areas were large and we never felt crowded.
*TVs were in every bedroom and plenty of large screen tvs as well as an Xbox 360 and a few games, awesome!!!
*wireless internet
*Top floor gameroom was amazing! Kids never wanted to leave it and neither did the adults.
*2 kitchens and 2 full size refrigerators!
*Fishing right outside your own house
*Great grill and firepit area for outdoor cooking and smores
*Your own playground
*Lots of green space to run around and tons of peace and quiet
*Owner is incredibly nice and helpful and was happy to answer all 100 questions I asked of him!
*Emily's Produce stand was not too far (10minutes) and was amazingly delicious for fresh fruits, vegetables and treats!
*Short drive from the DC area, it took us only about 90 minutes and our relatives from NYC got there in only 4 hours!
Our group ranged in age from 2-67 years of age and each and every person had a great time.
There are not really many cons. We feel like the pros heavily outweigh the cons for this home.
Cons:
*wireless internet was not great. Some of our relatives had work to do and they had a hard time staying connected to the internet connection for very long.
*Far from everything, including the grocery store
*Not much to do for younger kids besides the blackwater refuge and a few small museums. But there is so much to do right at Captains Quarters that you do not really feel the need to venture out on day trips!
While we visited we did go to
*Blackwater Refuge
*Emily's Produce
*Walmart
*Spa at the Hyatt in Cambridge
*Movie theater right next door to the Walmart.
We had an awesome time! We hope to be back next year!

The house is well decorated and spacious, fantastic for family gatherings. We had a great experience that will be remembered for the rest of our lives.
This property had all you needed for a great family vacation, but above all, the owner is a master of hospitality - he was very accommodating to every request we had.
I hope to go back to this house for another week soon.
