Arlington, TexasThis Will be Our Secret...Vacation Home!
Left on 07/16/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Charming Camden, with nearly every building a Historic property, a picture perfect bay, dotted with tall masts ships, and an Idyllic downtown for strolling or finding dining spots, {unspoiled by fast food chains, or big-box stores}...just Loveliness. And to think we got to stay in one of these historic building, for a whole week. I barely want to review and keep it a secret for only us.
But I must share, in all fairness, for I also am looking for perfect little tripadvisor spots, and rely on other for their thoughts. So...heres a tip. 3 Wood Street, Camden.
This 1900 building was remodeled into 3 apartments. Ours was the ground floor, with one queen bedroom (we're spoiled to a king, but were OK w/queen), and a fold-out single couch for the granddarlin. It was a very attractive, like-new flat 1/2 block from the Opera house, or 2-3 blocks to the wharf edge...mindful, either uphill or downhill trek, depending on which direction your may be going. All appliances were high end, Clean, new bath, totally equipped kitchen, telephone, Internet, and even a small TV...but we hardly turn it on, our days were full of local fun, or we were too tired and the comfy bed was a good retreat to read for a while. Photos are all very accurate, yet perhaps doesn't show all the cuteness. Nicer, than home in some ways, because it's someone elses house, and simplier, and we're on vacation. We were thankful for 2 window unit a/C, one in each bedrooms. Amazing how relative coolness can still be humid, I expect all that ocean water does that!
The owner, herself a busy professional woman, attends to all the details of this rental, which belies the quaility of this top end rental. Don't be afraid, of the contract between all parties, it is in a way reassuring to have circumstances spell out in advance.
Papa and I scoped-out areas nearby to perhaps find another 'place' we might like better, thinking that being 'on the water' would be the only improvement. But we reversed that thinking, because we loved being so close to Camden-town, to walk to dinner, or ice cream, or water activities, each day!! Once we parked our car from the day's driving activities, or to avoid the 2 hr parking restriction, although free, most everywhere in town, we could still wander about and enjoy the evenings about town. It truly is a lovely town, and a lovely home away.
