We have stayed here a few times before. The cleaning crew does not do a good job dusting - place needs a thorough going over. Kitchen and baths are very clean, but anything over 5 feet up doesn't get dusted so there are many cobwebs. no cleaning under surfaces either - my kids dropped a toy and the area under the bed was really gross.
Fireplace wasn't cleaned out - we had to shovel out the ashes in order to light a fire. -

My trip plans were very short notice and I was thrilled that Best of Canaan was able to accommodate me when others would not. The Old Timberline area of Canaan Valley never disappoints and the location and seclusion of Country Place was exactly what I needed. I will definitely be back soon. Thank you Donna!!!

Loved staying at Country place in Canaan. Only downfall is furniture in main living area, no couch, old broken chair, and both TV's are not very current ( a little 32" lcd even would be great in at least main living room), so it was hard to all sit together, had to split up, some in back room, some in front room, but it's a great place!!!! I had a great time, will definately be back.

Very relaxing. House was clean and was as described. Great location. Our whole party loved the house. Kitchen was alittle small for a big party but workable. Would stay here again and recomment to others.

We had a wonderful two weeks in the Country Place Cabin at Canaan Valley. The house had plenty of seating and beds for our large family. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. I loved having a washer & dryer available. We often saw deer and even wild turkey at our mountainside cabin. We loved our Canaan Valley vacation and hope to come back again!

Our family of 7 folks spanning 4 generations had a great week at The Country Place. There was plenty of room for all of us to gather for family time, but also enough space for us to spread out for reading, quiet conversations, and relaxation--both inside and out. We would definitely recommend this place for family gatherings in the summer.

Beautiful town, house is sort of a mess-side of house is badly rotted, mice (I saw mouse traps though and fequency traps. Some mold poblems fom bad drainage (sump pump was going evey 3 minutes.

I didn't ever expect I could find such a beautiful house for not so expensive rental price. The management was so professional, answered every call and every question 24x7 !!! I would definitely recommend this place and I'm going back again for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!

No comfortable seating in living room , bench couches not comfortable at all, you hit your head on windowsill. No paper to start a fire. No salt for the stairs and there Are alot of stairs.

Country Place was the perfect setting for our winter adventure this year. The cabin is comfortable, clean, spacious, and affordable.
- Comfortable: We loved the large den alcove with the wood stove. Perfect place to stretch out and read. The bedrooms were small, but comfy enough. No problems with appliances in the kitchen or bathroom.
- Clean: We found some signs of mice--but you expect that during winter months in the mountains. Overall, we were impressed: little dust, and nothing gross.
- Spacious: Even with nine adults, an active toddler, and a big dog, we never felt cramped. There's plenty of space for someone to be watching TV, others to be reading by the fire, and still others to be playing a game or doing a puzzle.
- Affordable: Country Place is surprising cheap, considering how much it offers. I don't think you can do much better for a cabin so near the slopes (you can see Timberline's Salamander Trail from the house).
We could quibble; the cabin isn't luxurious (unlike some nearby, more ritzy places). The flooring is low-pile carpet that reminds me of elementary school. The decor is a little kitschy. There was the mouse issue I mentioned above. But, again, these are minor issues, far outweighed by the positives.
And we couldn't be more pleased with 'Best of Canaan,' the rental outfit that mediated between us and the homeowner. They were friendly, understanding, and helpful. On the day we left, a monster blizzard was rumbling through the Valley. Come check-out time, one of our vehicles had major issues and would not start. 'Best of Canaan' permitted us to wait for a tow truck inside the house (beside the fire!) while the wind howled, the snow blew, and the wind chill dropped below zero.

We enjoyed our stay at the Country Place! The property was clean, quiet, and relaxing! The house was a little warm at times even with 2 ceiling fans going in the 2 living rooms. Our dog loved the local pond for swimming, very clean. A hot tub would make

House in nice condition except for the hall bathroom has a leak around the shower inclosure. Makes the house smell a little musty. Told the rental company and they were not aware of the musty smell. Said it was a new problem and would take care of it.
