Florida Family
Niceville, FLOur family had a terrific vacation here!
Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We were originally all booked and paid up for our vacation in the middle of December, but warm weather and a lot of rain made certain that we would not have any snow for the ski trip we had been looking forward to. The owners of this chalet were gracious and caring enough to take a personal interest in making sure that our vacation was not a disappointment. They offered us a raincheck that greatly enhanced the quality of our vacation and allowed us to reschedule for the first week of January. The snow was in abundance. We worked in 5 solid days of skiing, sledding, and taking in the beauty of a winter wonderland.
The home afforded us a nice view of the slope. Whenever our younger ones got too cold or tired, we were able to drop them off for some hot chocolate and let the older ones keep skiing. The variety of slopes was very good, although several of the slopes that we would have liked to go on were closed due to the lack of time they had to get them ready after a rainy December.
The best thing we liked about our vacation was that we didn't have to go anywhere. The location was remote. Four Wheel Drive or Front Wheel Drive with chains is important to get up the driveway in the snow. There is no Walmart nearby, so we planned ahead and had everything we needed with us for a very pleasant family friendly vacation.
If we have the chance to come back again, we would definitely do it again!

Thanks very much Bobby.
We could have made some money renting the days that we gave you, but wanted your family to really enjoy your visit and out house. We hope you do come back in the future. -

DaytonGreat Summer Get away!!
Left on 08/25/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This place is perfectly located. So great to relax and get away! We stayed 3 nites. Chilled first nite watching a movie from the courtesy selection, which is surprisingly good for owner provided. Then went right up the hill to the wilderness area for some casual hiking the next day...7 yr old was little tired, but trails aren't too technical. Caught some crayfish, ate some wild blueberries which are everywhere and enjoyed a day in the sun, awesome! Be sure to bring some good shoes, though, as there is a lot of water to walk thru. Next day we spent relaxing on the balcony, playing ping pong, walking around locally [pretty scenery] and relaxing in the giant whirlpool tub...it's definately best part of the house! Kitchen has everything you need, made pancakes and biscuits/gravy from scratch. Found out about horse back riding too late so look forward to a return trip!

Thanks Tim,
You were hiking in the Dolly Sods National Wilderness Area which is a carry-in only area. The access from the house is a 0.5 mile walk right up the ski slope. -

What a wonderful house! My family and our best friends (10 in all) enjoyed the best winter vacation ever here. We found this home to be everything that it was described to be and more. No need to bring any cooking ware as everything is provided. There is lots of space to play games and the ping pong table in the basement makes for hours of fun and laughter. Easy accessability to the ski slope makes it great for those who prefer not to ski all day. The owners were great to work with answering all questions that were asked (and there were many). The house was clean when we arrived and departure directions were simple and easy.Four-wheeled drive is absolutely required if you plan on going during the snow/ice season. After taking a vote it was unanimously decided that we would deffinitely come here again.

34599What a Great Place
Left on 12/27/2011 for a stay in December 2011
We had the most amazing Christmas holiday in this house. Myself, daughter, husband and teenaged son, and my nephew. The salamander slope opened the day we arrived. It is a long long easy slope with a bit of challenge here and there for casual skiers. It zips right past the balcony. Truly ski in and ski out!. It was fun sliding in for a hot bowl of chili for lunch and watch the skiers pass by, then a few more runs without any fuss. The kitchen was equipped beyond my belief. We cooked a full Christmas dinner, quiche for breakfast, bisquits and gravy and each time I said to myself, "well, I bet they don't have..." darned if they didn't have it! Cheese grater, garlic press, quiche dish, potato masher, blender, mixer and on and on, you would have no trouble cooking for ten from scratch! It was holiday and the price was high but we only needed two days and the limit was three. The gracious owners allowed us the two day stay and told us of a Christmas tree in the garage which we put up with lights and bows, some lights draped over the fireplace mantle and we felt like we were home for a family Christmas. We decided to leave the tree up for the next guests the days following Christmas, hope that didn't cause a problem. Oh yes, the penguin puzzle is missing a couple pieces. But there is more from which to choose.

Thank you so much for your gracious review. We work very hard to create a place for families to make memories, and we are glad you were able to enjoy Christmas the way our family has for so many years.
