Civil War buffs will recognize Cedar Creek as the site where the final Confederate invasion of the North was effectively ended. Historians say the stunning Union victory that occurred there aided in the reelection of Abraham Lincoln. I see lots of virtue in the story of the famed battlefield and interestingly it is a favorite landmark of Cedar Creeks’ homeowners. This was our sixth year at Winterset 35 and each stay has been a great experience. Just a few comments regarding our ratings above: Property general condition: they have replaced the great room furniture once since we've been staying there but it's getting close to needing replacement again as is some of the other furniture including the pool table which needs to be refurbished or replaced. Cleanliness is pretty good but the bathrooms in the basement bedrooms were not properly cleaned (toothpaste in sink and on mirror and numerous hair in one of the showers). It was nice having another refrigerator in the basement. We've booked it for next year and already looking forward to it. Great working with the staff at Best of Canaan!

Great as always. Pool table could use some work, needs some bolts and screws put back in, and bumpers tightened up. It's nearly falling apart.

The house was incredible! We had several families with kids on our trip and had plenty of room for everyone. The private bathroom in each bedroom was a great feature. The two dishwashers in the kitchen were the icing on the cake. We will definitely be back.

We've rented this house for years now and have always enjoyed it. They Owners and Property Managment company always seem to do their best to make sure that everything is in order and ready when we get there and check in and check out were a breeze. This is our first year with "Best of Canaan" but it was great and I'm sure it will stay that way.

The sheets on the beds were very scratchy. Everyone made a comment on them. Also, we did have a plumbing problem and even though it was corrected, it created a mess that we had to deal with in the lower bathroom.

Our family has rented this unit at least 3 separate times. It is a wonderful house that provides a great meeting area and wonderful bedrooms with private baths. This house is so comfortable that it feels as if it is our home in the mountains.

We had a great time and have rented this cottage for several years. The cottage bathrooms do not appear to be cleaned thoroughly as there was hair in the shower stalls and on the bathroom floors. That would lead me to wonder if the carpets are vacuumed. Also, there was an issue with the gril not properly working and shelving to the grill was broken or missing. Otherwise, it was perfect. We have booked this for next year, as it is a great size for our family and the Larraine (rental agent) is the BEST!

Very accommodating to a larger group(14). Wish the owners had included a pantry and second refrigerator. Issues with the hot tub all weekend.
