San Francisco, CA USAFantastic Villa with amazing service!
Left on 04/15/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We stayed at Villa Salju for 5 nights with our 3 children! It was a wonderful experience. We arrived at 1a.m. with very tired children. Gusti, the driver, was waiting for us at the airport and drove us to the villa. Someone was there waiting for us to check us in and make sure all was ok. The house was kept spotless by Tari and she would do our laundry every morning! She even made us breakfast before we took off on our daily adventures.
The driver, Gusti, really made our vacation. He took us to several fabulous restaurants and one day took us on a tour of Bali - from Balinese dancing to temples to a coffee plantation. We loved Bali so much that we plan to visit again next year. It wouldn't have been the same without the wonderful staff at the the Villa.

Our first time in Bali and enjoyed every relaxing minute ! The villa was everything we could have asked for and more. From the helpful and friendly staff to the pool for a nice cooling dip to the outside seated area which has a roof and ceiling fan and lights for at night was perfect to kick back and read with a glass of wine or cold beer ! The area is a bit quiet but 5 minutes walk to a cafe and 15 minutes walk to the beach. However as the villa comes with a driver this wasn't a problem...and the peace is nice ! All in all we loved and will be going back.

Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We spent 2 days at villa salju, The villa is about a few minutes drive away from Seminyak, but the villa does provide a driver and van (in our case the very capable Gusti) so distance is manageable. We were not able to spend a lot of time in the Villa because Gusti would take us all over Bali from Kuta to Ubud. We would be out of the villa by 8am after a hearty breakfast prepared by Tari and come back late in the evening, and coming home to a house with open spaces is so much better than a cramped hotel room. Kids enjoyed playing board games before going to sleep without watching tv is a priceless memory that i would treasure forever.
Would like to make a comment on the bathrooms in Bali, not just in villa salju, takes some getting use to doing your business in an open air toilet/bathroom. one night saw a pair of eyes watching me take a bath. Guys do not freak about about these things, but after my bath had to call security to remove a 3" brown big eyed frog hiding in some plants. Hahaha. Also be prepared to be serenaded by various sounds of insects at night. Like some background music, it comes with the territory since we are beside a rice paddy.
We spent a lot of time with Gusti, and really appreciate the way he took care of us during our vacation. Only complain with him is he made all of us gain a lot of weight. From lunch by a rice field, to potato head, to ribs, to authentic indonesian, balinese food.. yum yum, my mouth is watering remembering the restaurants he took us to.
He also took us to Ubud and the cultural aspects of balinese life and art, the coffee plantation, batik factory, and the kids favorite, water bomb in kuta and the outlet stores near the bypass.
In summary, a great villa, relaxing ambiance, but the real star is the people who make sure guests have an enjoyable vacation. Susan and her staff deserve every accolade and praise for a job well done.

Perth, Western AustraliaHigh Quality Residence & graet value for money
Left on 03/23/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Thankyou Susan & staff, I have stayed @ many villas in Bali & this one rates in my top 4 for excellence. From the quality fit out to the massive sala with an all so relaxing huge sofa at the rear of the manicured garden with huge grassed area.
The only downfall was the lack of a quality internet service, however the freindly staff did absolutly everything possible to rectify this but still could not get any, due to problems though the internet provider themselves.
Although having my own driver, we did utilize the vills's transport service several times which was fantastic with a very nice young man that spoke excellent english.
The villa was serviced every day & kept spotlesly clean.
Although a little distance from the main restraunt strip(about a 10 minute drive)the Cangu Club is reasonable close by, you will certainly require some sort of transport, whether it be a driver or motor scooter to get out & about.
A final note: please adhere to Susans request re transfers of money for payment otherwise you will get stung with transfer rate fees from their Hongkong bank & it will end up costing you extra, in Susans defence, this is no fault by her.
This villa ticks most of the boxes for me & would certainly recomend it & will book again if staying in the Cangu district.
Thankyou to Susan & the Villa team.
Regards

If you want peace and relaxation you can go no further.
Location not the best, you will need transport to go anywhere. Nothing to walk to.
Service great, internet 'iffy' (but who really needs it).
Easy access for golf or fishing, so who cares!
Plenty of room for large groups/families, non intrusive
Big fridge and great cooking facilities, big pool just to veg!

Left on 02/24/2013 for a stay in February 2013
The Team was great. Housekeeper Tari, Drivers Rama and Bodi just contributed to make our stay special. Having a vehicle at our disposal with the drivers of such high calibre were simply fantastic. The home was clean and little things that were available made the stay five star. The location was just what we wanted. Quiet and restful the grounds and the pool was simply stunning. The little no frills dream spa made our stay even better. The little cafe down the road and the Chefs who cooked in the Villa were some of the reasons we will go back to Salju. what a professional team 10 out of 10 for the Team. Susan is definitely a great manager to lead a team taking care of the property. There is noting that I did not like about the Villa. Just the place to chill out and have fun and family time. Overall the best :)

My husband and I recently stayed at Villa Salju.
The staff were amazing!
Our driver Budi had really good English and suggested some great places to go. We have travelled to Bali numerous times before and didn't really want to do the normal tourist things apart from eating and drinking many Bintangs!
Restaurants and places we wanted to go he found easily and quickly.(Even one place from a very obscure photo!)
Taree our housekeeper was lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
Very efficient and not under our feet.
The lovely security people outside also deserve a special mention for their friendliness and translating telephone calls for us.
A little hard to find the first time as the road or villa is not signposted but easy to get used to.
There are a few close places to eat and the beach which is great for swimming is only a ten minute walk away.
Great sunsets from the upstairs viewing platform.
Very clean and well laid out. There was only the two of us but three couples would also have plenty of space.
Look forward to coming back!

Sydney, AustraliaSensational Salju
Left on 02/04/2013 for a stay in January 2013
In my opinion Salju can be summed up in one word. Incredible.
From the very first email response I received from Susan to the extraordinary welcome we were greeted with to the fabulous villa itself... everything was extraordinary.
After a terrible experience in Seminyak, Susan gently reassured me that Canggu would be no problem - and it wasnt. It was spectacular. Villa Salju is set amongst the rice fields and off the beaten track.
From the moment we walked through the stone gates we felt right at home. Everything was thoughtfully set out and attended to. The outdoor Bale in the garden that overlooks the garden and pool probably made our whole stay. The view from teh upstairs verandah was sensational, across the rice fields and into the raging susnets. Each bedroom has its own private outdoor shower complete with fluffy white towels and natural soap. So good!
We hired motor bikes and found hidden paths to the wonderfully cool and relaxed Echo Beach and Deus Ex Machina.
More upmarket establishments such as Metis, Sunday brunch at the W, Sardine, Potato Head and other top restaurants were a mere 15 minute wonderfully colorful drive with our expert driver Yasa who really made our stay extra special. Yasa went out of his way to show us the real Bali, something we were worried was diminishing. A visit to a Baliyan spiritual healer and gorgeous drive up to Tabernan with a few stops at local warungs (cafes) for some Babi Guling (suckling pig) and Bali Kopi.
Tari our housekeeper was amazing, and never in the way, she was always smiling and ready to help out. The pool is a great size (if not a little deep) and we hired temporary bamboo fencing which worked really well and didnt look awful.
Dream Spa around the corner had the best massages ($7) I've found in Bali. We all agreed. Sindu, the house manager was so helpful and polite it made us feel very at home. The only thing we would change was adding a television to the lounge room for rainy days. We cant wait to go back -

Our family, including our daughters, their spouses and my wife and I, had a fantastic Christmas holiday on Bali, staying at Villa Salju. The villa was all that was described and more. We loved the spacious rooms, the private pool and the tasteful decor. However, the best was the amazing service provided by Rama, our driver and Tari who looked after the Villa on a daily basis. Rama was a wellspring of information as he took us all over Bali and shared his love for the Island, his people, his faith and his culture. He was so attentive and willing to help us. It was a 10 out of 10 holiday experience...

There are many villas to choose from in Bali. I finally settled on Villa Salju - the photos looked fantastic, it had great reviews plus the owner Susan was very responsive to all my questions. As a frequent traveller in asia, this personal touch was the key determining factor for me.
Susan's professionalism was reflected in her staff at the villa. They were always ready to help. The villa did not disappoint - it was what the pictures had shown.
canggu is a good getaway from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak. The restaurants on Echo beach , which is about 10-15 minutes away, is probably one of the best kept secrets in Bali.
For the first time visitor to Bali however, this location at Canggu may not be ideal for speedy access to the key sights in Bali.
But I would recommend the various villas by Susan and her team. -

We (three couples) spent over a week at this paradise villa, there is not one complaint, everything was neat, clean, the personnel was always providing us with whatever was needed, the vehicle and above all the driver "Yasa" is an excellent additional value to the villa. He took us to many beautiful places and always with smile in his face.
At the end of the hot days, relaxing at the pool or at thebeautiful gazebo put the icing on the cake.
Recommended 100%.

Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We have travelled to Bali most years and have been many times but this time was different as we were travelling with 5 month old twin boys.
The trip started a little bumpy but was quickly put back on track by Sindu and Susan from afar.
We were greeted at the villa by Tari who was with us for the week and catered our every need and seemed to move through the villa doing various chores without us even noticing.
Putu our driver has quickly become a great friend and nothing was too much trouble. He helped with the boys and got us to some great locations with information and tourist information everywhere we went. He was even a great singer to settle the boys.
Sindu was very professional with his job and ensured everything ran smoothly after we arrived.
The villa was broken up into many areas and catered for not only us but also my mother and sister in law who came over to catch up with us and the boys. At no time did we feel like we were in each others pockets and could easily escape to read a book or relax in the pool or cabana.
Having Tari do all the shopping and prepare the breakfasts (which were nothing but fantastic everyday!) is a great idea and so much easier to finalise the food bill at the end.
We have never stayed in Canggu and found the location to be excellent, out of the rat race, close enough to the shops and great restaurants and captured the amazing cool breezes every day being so close to the beach and rice fields.
I would thoroughly recommend this style of villa and staffing options and we are already planning our next break next year.
Thanks Susan, Sindu, Tari and Putu.
See you next year!

My sister and I arrived at Denpasar airport where we were met by the driver, Gusti. The drive was a little over 40 minutes and we were once again met by the housekeeper, Tari and other members of staff. Our evening meal was freshly prepared and waiting for us even though it was nearly 11pm. The following 9 nights and 8 days were truly wonderful. Nothing was too onerous for both Tari and Gusti. We were given all the care and attention one would desire on a holiday. Gusti took us to Ubud and surrounds without hesitation. Tari was only too happy to order food as required.
The villa itself was comfortable and peaceful. The pool was beautiful and sparkling. The villa is very conveniently located in the area of Canggu which has a small village of shops, restaurants and spa. It is about 40 minutes to Ubud and about 20 minutes to Seminyak. My sister and I would like to thank again Tari and Gusti for the sensational care we received. -

Arriving at the airport to meet our guide, "Putu", with a smile that went from ear to ear and a warming greeting that got us off to a great start. From this moment on, our holiday went so perfectly. The villa felt like a Balinese palace with all the magical trimmings and great utensils for self sufficiency, although superb cafes and restauraunts were just a short drive away. All Putus' recommendations were great and his knowledge of Bali was very impressive. We experienced the Bali magic whilst at Villa Salju and I have no doubts that our next trip will just as magical. Thankyou

From the moment we were met by Putu (our driver) at the airport it was obvious that our stay was off to a great start. Once we arrived at the Villa we were welcomed by Sindu & Tari and shown around the Villa. The whole villa met all our expectations and more, as nothing was to much trouble. From the helpful suggestions from Putu of places to see and go to the magnificent dinner at the villa arranged by the team (Sindu Tari and Putu) including Balinese dancers and decorations, what a treat. It is obvious that Susan has very high standards for her team (and herself) as this was evident through the communication we received from her and the ongoing service we received from all the team. Special thanks to Putu for all his help and excellent driving during our stay.

After many months of planning our first trip to Bali we decided to stay 6 nights at Villa Salju .We then spent another 5 nights at a resort - in the end it was the perfect combination. We were 2 families travelling together - 4 adults and 4 kids ( aged between 7 & 14) When dealing with the owner Susan was extremely professional & she is such a lovely person. >From the moment of arrival to the time we were dropped off at the resort we were looked after by our driver Gusti - he was an absolute gem & very professional. After consultation he set out an itinerary & organised everything !! Now the villa - we liked to call it " our piece of paradise " in chaos . The villa is positioned next to a rice paddy .It is perhaps a little further out from Seminyak than we had expected but I think this was because we had not been to Bali before. The villa is very well maintained & Tari the house maid is amazing - she is almost stealth like in her cleaning activities - you really never know when she is there & how she managed to do all our washing each day I will never know. The villa itself had ample room for both families & they organised a fold out bed in the " pool room" so all kids could be together . Another thing that I would like to praise is the beautiful food which was prepared by Tari ( breakfast) & the chef at night. Not only did it cater for everyone's tastes but it truly was some of the nicest food that we had in Bali!!Whenever we needed more supplies Tari was always willing to go on her scooter. The only suggestion I have for the villa it would be more lounges in the living area . ( saying that we did spend most of our time in the wonderful Bali hut which has enough seating to accomodate a football team). Thanks again Susan & your team - we had a wonderful time !!

The pool and bale were where we spent most of our time and the villa staff arranged for a pool fence to be put up around the pool & pond so we could relax with our toddler.

We landed at bali airport and were recieved by staff of Villa Salju. They welcome all of us in atraditional way with Garland. The villa is superb with well decorated rooms and ammenities such as pool, lounge in the garden and surrounded by green rice field.A small libraray and you can read books if you want to read in the sunshine at pool side. It is more like a home away from home. The staff at the villa -Manager Sindhu was very prompt and efficient in checkin formalities.Rama was more a guide for sightseeing then a driver. He showed us all the places and markets were we could do the shopping at a reasonable prices.Tari the house keeper was very prompt and always serve with smile. The staff at the Villa is asset to the owners.
Providing car with driver for sight seeing is the plus point.
The stay at Villa gives you positive vibrations and you can relax and enjoy.
All rooms had a common master key and you are giving only one key if one want to lock the rooms from inside there is no door latch.Suggest you provide one.

From the moment we booked Villa Salju with Susan to the end of our stay everything was handled so efficiently. After spending a busy week in Kuta we moved to Villa Salju. We were picked up from our hotel and on arrival were greeted by the wonderful staff who were so hospitable and nothing was ever a problem for them. Tari and Oka cooked breakfast for us and kept the villa clean and tidy. Sindu was great and very helpful. Putu, our driver was a true gem! He was so knowledgable and always helpful in explaining the many Balinese cultures and traditions to us. He is a lovely, kind person who helped make our stay so enjoyable. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and always had a smile on their faces.
The villa itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoyed relaxing and cooling off in the pool after a busy day sightseeing. As we were in Bali for Nyepi (Day of Silence) we were able to make use of the kitchen facilities which was great. We loved the undercover outdoor area and would have liked to make more use of this if the weather had not been so wet.
My husband and I renewed our wedding vows in the villa so this made our stay truly special. Susan made all the arrangements for the ceremony which made the day so amazing and hassle free for us. The staff were all involved which made our day even more special. From the decorations to the beautiful dinner cooked by Sugi on the night, everything was wonderful. I really can't thank all of the staff enough for making our day such a memorable occasion. We will never forget our thoroughly enjoyable stay at Villa Salju and if we plan another holiday to Bali we would definitely stay here again.

As this was our first trip to Bali, expectations were high. We've heard of the many beautiful wonders of the island but none of which prepared us for the wonderful experience that was served at Villa Salju.
Villa Salju is a dream home. Spacious rooms in tip top condition, quality furniture and fittings all over, everything you need for a luxurious and comfortable stay. Of course, the highlight is the pool. Although we were out during the day, we made it a point to jump into the inviting pool every night. We especially enjoyed having the large open space, just to walk around.
In terms on location, it was a short walk to the beach, and was surrounded by beautiful rice fields. You would, however, need to walk a bit to get to a convenience store or a cafe for food. For us, we bought groceries and enjoyed the cooking experience in the villa itself.
No matter how great the villa was, we felt that it was the people that made it a truly wonderful experience. Although we never met with Susan, she helped make sure that the booking process was smooth and even held our booking for us even when we did not complete the booking transaction on time. We were very pleased with the professional way that the whole transaction was conducted in. Tari was a great help with the housekeeping and was always joy to have around (must try Tari's banana pancakes). Sindu ensured that our checking in and departure was smooth and Sugi the Chef welcomed us with a splendid dinner on arrival. Putu, our driver, and now our friend, brought us to many delights of the island, and was ever patient with our many questions of the island. We would have never enjoyed Bali so much if it weren't for him.
Overall, I would say that this was the best place we've ever stayed in, on a vacation and look forward to going back again, maybe this time to sample the other Villas that Susan has to offer. -

To make this place even better, I'd suggest Susan and team to place a pool table/some other indoor games in the first floor as it seems like our focus is mostly only on the swimming pool and outdoor resting area.
The location is just fine for us as we are looking at a peaceful and quiet place to spend our vacation. Last but not least, great job to all staff of villa Salju!!!

I went to Bali for the very first time in February 2012 and I lived at this wonderful villa in Canggu. The villa is very clean and we were very impressed with the service of the staff. The villa is located just beside a padi field and it's within 15 min walk to the beach, so it is perfect for a quiet holiday. One thing though is that there're a few villas under construction right beside us which meant that there were lots of construction materials piled up nearby and the road to access the villa wasn't in the best conditions. But all in all, still a fantastic villa. Great place to avoid the hassles of city life.

After selecting Villa Salju for a getaway with friends, we were all delighted with our accommodations, the staff and amenities.
The villa itself is lovely - large, clean, well maintained and with a fabulous pool and garden. Settled amongst rice fields in the developing area of Canggu, it's quiet enough to be relaxing, but not enough to feel isolated. Villa Salju's free Wi-Fi allows you to stay connected, and with the inclusion of a driver, all the activities and sites that Bali has to offer are within reach.
We loved our stay at Villa Salju and found it great for a group of friends. It would also be great for couples or a family as the bedrooms are large and separate, but the living area and garden provide a roomy 'common area' to get together.

Having the opportunity to stay at Villa Salju was an experience I will never forget. It was not that far out of the centre of Seminyak and only 10 minute walk to the beach. There is a nice little coffee shop on the corner.
The Villa itself is Home away from Home. It has all the mod-coms that you would have at home but with your very own Housekeeper and Driver at hand. Tari (housekeeper) was a blessing by cooking us Banana Pancakes and a half decent fry up of bacon & eggs. Great food to start us on our way with Putu our driver. He was very informative with the history of Bali and religion aspects of Indonesia.
The photos on the website are great but do not give this villa justice. The tranquil gardens are so nice too sit out on the lounge and read a book or just to chill out after strenuous hours shopping. I was fortunate of having the upstairs bedroom which is soundproof to the noise below from your fellow companions.
The only down fall we came across but soon fixed is that the pool was too deep to try and tread water while drinking cocktails. We located a shop that sold inflatable's which I hope are still in the laundry for other guests to enjoy. If not there is a stall on Legian St Kuta to pick up some especially for the little ones.
Ideas for good eating places are Potato-head, Biku & Bali Bakery Company all on the Jl. Pettinget road. If you want to eat in check out the takeaway/delivery booklet at the villa for good eats in or request the in house chef to come in and cook up something in the villa.
Cant wait until my next visit with staying at one of Susan's other villa's. But I will always remember my stay at Villa Salju and how it has opened up my view of holidaying in Bali with the comfort of home.

From the moment I booked the property, everything was perfect. We never had any problems or difficulties. Before we arrived we sent a list of groceries that we would like and they were there on our arrival!
You can do as little or as much as you like. Gusti the driver was fantastic, nothing that we wanted was a problem for him, all we did was ask for an idea and he could sort it! He met us at the airport and we saw much more of the island than we would have done otherwise. For 5 days we went surfing and Gusti took us here every day. We had no plans apart from this but he had plenty of ideas for us.
Tari the maid kept everything pristine and cooked breakfast for us, we were extremely well looked after every day! She did a great job of out laundry too.
The location of the villa is great, it is close to the beach, you can be there with a 10 minute walk, it is nice and quiet so you can relax away from the towns. Nothing is too far and Gusti is happy to drive at any time.
The villa is decorated beautifully and the garden is amazing with a great swimming pool, it was so nice to swim in at night when lit up.
We all would love to come back here again in the future! -

255093Fantastic Holiday!
Left on 11/05/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We spent 1 week at Villa Salju and loved every minute of our holiday. The villa itself is spectacular and is every bit as beautiful as the pictures suggest. The rooms are spacious with a beautiful ensuite for each bedroom. The little touches like the frangiapanis on the beds and throughout the house on arrival, and the daily offerings placed around villa and the pool all add to the experience.
What really sets Villa Salju apart from any other holiday we have had are the staff. We just loved every minute we spent with our driver, Putu. Putu serves not only as driver but as tour guide, historian, fishing intructor and riddle teller! We felt like he was part of our family when we left. We also appreciated all that was done by Tari, our lovely housekeeper and Made, the Villa manager. We felt secure knowing our guard was on duty every night and he kept the grounds looking beautiful as well! We also had several beautiful breakfasts and dinners cooked by Sugi and would definitely recommmend that guests book Sugi for at least a few meals. Our kids especially thought that his nasi goreng breakfasts were the best!
We enjoyed being slightly removed from the busyness of the streets, without being too far from the activity. Set in the middle of several rice fields, we watched the fields transform from clumps of mud, to perfectly planted rows of rice during our stay. The balcony overlooking the pool, magnificent bale and the rice fields is such a peaceful place to sit and have your morning coffee.
We would not hesitate to recommend Villa Salju and Susan's fabulous staff. We can not wait to return! -

Left on 11/04/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We loved every minute of our stay at Villa Salju. The property itself is 100% as lovely as its pictures advertise it to be - tastefully designed & furnished, clean & relaxing with spectacular serene views of paddyfields all around - but it's the wonderful staff who truly bring it to life to make your experience an unforgettable one.
Property manager Sindu, lovely housekeeper Tari & Chef Sugi were always cheerful & friendly yet discreetly inconspicuous while going about their duties. There was no meal request or Bali-noob question which was too trivial or troublesome for them (they even managed to arrange for an entire roast suckling pig for us one evening!). Driver Wayan was a pleasure to travel with and completely reliable - even when he fell ill one evening, he stayed on with us till his replacement driver turned up to see us home.
The villa is tucked away in Canggu which is about 15 mins from Seminyak and 30 mins from Kuta. It's a 5 min walk from Brawa Beach and there are some decent cafes nearby.
My husband and I had visited Bali some years back and stayed at a hotel in Nusa Dua. We honestly didn't enjoy our initial visit even half as much as this one, and we truly believe that our stay at Villa Salju made all the difference this time around. Kudos to Susan & her team for their 5-star hospitality! -

Villa Salju is every bit as good as the other reviews here make it out to be. The property is very clean, comfortable, and well-appointed.
Tari, the housekeeper is a lovely person, who did a great job of looking after us during our stay. Our tour-guide Putu was a wealth of Bali knowledge, and was only too happy to answer our constant questions about Balinese culture and the island, as he drove us safely around the island. Both were also lovely with our 2 year old daughter.
If there are 2 reasons to stay in a villa like this, instead of a hotel, then Tari and Putu are those reasons!
The pool was a great place to start each day, and the huge bale gazebo a very comfortable place to finish it, with a Bintang or two while catching up on the news, using the in-house internet, which was also handy uploading our day's photos 'to the cloud' for safe-keeping.
I've tried to think of some negatives to balance out this review, but honestly there is nothing of any significance compared to the overall positive, relaxing experience that we had here.
There is some footage of this property in our holiday video, which can be seen at youtube.com/freotragic

It starts with arrival and extends until you sit back on your plane to wherever - perfect hospitality. Travelling with three kids we spent two weeks at Villa Salju in July and had the best time imaginable. The villa is not only beautiflul, it extremely well looked after and in a great location if you want a perfect compromise between the lively Seminyak and a quiet and remote location. However nice the villa is - it is the people that make the difference. The owner Susan, the maid Tari and especially the driver Putu looked after us perfectly at any time, before, during and after our stay. When we left Villa Salju after two weeks it felt like leaving home for good. Everybody knew that we will be back sooner or later.

Villa Salju was the perfect retreat for our young families, with two small children the back yard was fantastic for the Bali afternoon and the Bali Hut was such a nice location for nightly beauty treatments while talking with our husbands. Tari always had the house looking beautiful and clean and Putu had such a great sense of humor and was fantastic at finding the shops we were looking for, nothing was ever too hard. Our only regret is not getting the chef to cook more our sucking pig dinner and bali seafood feast were such fantastic memories... next time every night! Sarita was amazing at organising these meals and anything we needed she is very professional. The guards were always friendly face to see and made us feel very safe. Thank you to all the staff! We will be back!

We braved the holiday with 2 couples both with a child under 2 - the Villa team right from the airport was the most accommodating and helpful we have seen, our love for Bali from previous trips was only increased by the over whelming joy in staying at Villa Salju. Putu truly is a great person and a credit to your group. Every request was accommodated and we especially appreciated the chefs Pig. I have a pleasure in recommending Villa Salju to anyone.

Villa Salju is an absolutely beautiful villa, we had a great time here and found it very relaxing, quiet peaceful just magnifient, if you want to be in Kuta at nightclubs etc this is not the villa for you, if you want to be pampered & spoilt it is .
Tare kept the villa spotless and did our washing, and cooked great breakfasts (try her banana pancakes best in bali). Putu our driver was the best, our family loved him, his knowledge of Bali is fantastic and his driving is spot on.
We had a great massage from Putus uncle, Made higly recommended.
Sarita the manager ensures everything runs smooth and can be contacted, not that we needed to.
Susan the owners restaurant suggestions were great, Metis is fantastic, we couldnt get into Sarong , so book when you get there if you want to eat there.
Closing the pool is great the bale at the back is so relaxing, the upstairs area was another great place to retreat, lovely breezes
Highly recommend Villa Salju most relaxing holiday the whole family has had. -

Villa Salju is exquisite, the photos you see are great but it is much, lovelier and bigger in real life. The beds are comfy, bathrooms spacious, its clean, the living areas - large and with comfortable furniture, the kitchen is brilliant, everything you need is there and fresh drinking water supplied. Our teenage kids had a magnificent room and bathroom each, heaps of space. The garden is private and sheltered and large, beautifully proportioned...the frangipani flowers dropped into the pool one day - very cool to swim amongst. The top deck great for afternoon naps/drinks, so is the Bale. The pool is deep and big enough for 4 of us to swim and muck around in and it is clean. Tari, our house keeper was lovely, everything was clean and tidy for us. On the day's we didn't go out Tari was so discrete we hardly knew she was there. She also cooked breakfast for us and that was so good we had to say no more because we were eating too much! Tari washed everyday for us so we actually came home with clean clothes in our bags! We had a couple of pool side massages from people Sarita, our villa manager, recommended. Sarita was charming, we all felt as if we had known her forever. We should have used the chef more he was awesome, brilliant food. It's a good location. We walked to the beach and cafe (nice food). The villa comes with a car and driver so we could go into busy tourist areas and then retreat to our little patch of paradise day or night. Our drivers, Gusti and Rama took us to some amazing places, cool restaurants, arranged activities for us and were so friendly and funny. They were lovely with the kids too. Balinese people have a great sense of humour! The car was a comfortable 8 seater wagon with air conditioning of course! A driver is a good idea, Bali traffic is intense. Internet was handy we used it heaps. Our security guard was there in case we needed anything during the night! Actually we didn't need anything because Villa Salju has everything!

What a fantastic place to stay! Having never been to Bali before and with the number of accommodation options mind boggling, we finally found Villa Salju and decided it was exactly what we were looking for. It was great to be able to talk to Susan before we booked, she was incredibly helpful and no question was too trivial. From the moment we were met at the airport and taken to the villa, where we were welcomed by the villa manager Sarieta, we knew we had chosen well. We arrived in the dark, not really knowing exactly where we were and woke to a fabulous vista of villas and rice paddies. The villa was everything we expected and more. The upstairs balcony, the pool and the bale were highlights for us. Everything was spotless and all of the extra personal touches made it even better than the photos can show. It felt right for us to be staying out of the hustle and bustle and experiencing a more local way of life, so if that sounds like what you are looking for, then this villa is ideal. The stunning sunsets just down the road at Brawa Beach are worth the short walk too! A big thanks to Susan and all of her team, they were 1st rate, and nothing was too much trouble. Our housekeeper Tari was delightful and kept our villa immaculate. It was such a luxury to have our mess tidied up and our clothes washed, we even went home with clean clothes in our cases. It was great to have a car and driver to take us wherever we wanted. We had a very good look around Bali and with the excellent knowledge of our drivers, Rama and Gusti, we learnt a lot about Bali’s history and culture on our trips. Our driver’s suggestions for day trips and great places for lunch and shopping were spot on too! We felt very safe with our security team keeping an eye on things of an evening. Our only regret was that we only had the in house chef cook once, it should have been more often, as the food was superb. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay and would highly recommend Villa Salju to anyone.

The house is located 30 mins from Seminyak, so if you're looking to be close to the buz, you shouldn't go here. But if you want to stay in a nice area's and don't mind making a drive (car and driver come with the house) for everything you do, yhis villa offers great value for money.

Me and my husband were so lucky that we had booked the villa for three weeks. That was of course a bit of a risk, but from the moment we arrived we knew that it had been a perfect choice. The staff was so welcoming, friendly and helpfull. With Putu, our driver for three weeks, we made wonderfull visits to almost all interesting places of the island. He showed us the extra things you would never see with a touristic quide. Tari kept the villa in a perfect state and even cooked a few time real Indonesian meals for us. So I learned from her how her mother teached her to make these special dishes. For the relaxing part of our stay the veranda and the pool were our places to be. We have spend lots of time there too.
The friendly guards made us feel very safe and repaired lamps or other small things if neccesary.

Must admit I wasn't sure about booking this place as it was 4 males travelling in Bali without the wives but as soon as we saw the place we fell in love with it. We spend 4 nights absolutely enjoying ourselves, we even cooked a couple of meals with produce from the local markets. Putu the driver was great. He took us for a tour to Tanah Lot and a few other places and was always friendly and informative. Tari, the house maid was a lot of fun (and even told us off for doing our own washing) and kept the place clean and tidy. Probably no easy feat with 4 blokes in the kitchen.
Looking for relaxation and getting away from it all - this is the place. Looking for a bit of fun and seeking adventure - get Putu to get you some scooters and check out the area.

My group of 6 friends knew that we were up for a great holiday the moment we were greeted by the Villa's manager and the driver (Ma-de). The fresh flowers and the drink brought to us really made us feel very welcomed.
When we reached the Villa, we were still doubting that we managed to get such a great deal. We were all in shock at the beauty of the place and the way it is maintained.
Our stay was definitely complemented with the driver provided and I must add, without Ma-De with us on this holiday, it would have been a totally different experience altogether. He was always so cheerful and patient and always had a smile on his face.
Although the location doesn't allow us to venture out late at night (not that there was a need to), it was very quiet and peaceful. We did make a lot of noise with the iPod dock that was provided in the villa though.
We are glad we chose to stay in Susan's villa and we are really hoping to make our way back to her other Villas in the time to come.
Thanks Susan and the team!

I had arranged this holiday purposely to celebrate my 50th birthday with my closest friends somewhere warm, relaxing, private, luxurious and as we all had busy life's and jobs I didn't want to have to think much about arranging anything and I found all that with Villa Salju from the moment we arrived at the airport. The villa itself is fabulous...all the rooms and beds are excellent, the outdoor area with the pool and bale are great and we spent a number of days just lazing around the villa (swimming, resting, reading, eating and the odd drink or 4 to round it all off) as it was so nice not having to do anything. On the days we managed to drag ourselves away we just asked Ma-de to pick us up at a specific time and we went wherever we wanted to go...no problemo.Tari the house keeper came everyday and had her work cut out cleaning up after 6 of us, but she did a great job.I had wanted to arrange something special for my birthday night and Susan and the team arranged everything. We left the villa at 5pm and walked to the beach resort for cocktails and watch the sunset. When we arrived back the villa had been transformed. Balinese decorations adorned the garden area as well as tea lights around the pool leading to the bale, which had been set up for sumptuous dinner. None of my guests knew this was happening so they were all blow away. The food was fantastic and heaps of it...it had been prepared by local specialty restaurants and also the families of the villa staff. Susan, Ngurah and Tari prepared and served us the food and explained all the dishes which was great. During dinner there was another surprise for my guests...Balinese dancers which Susan had arranged. A complete success. I could go on forever as there was lots of great times, but as you can probably allready work out it was all good. I would recommend to anyone looking for a value for money, relaxing, friendly and stress free holiday to stay at 'Villa Salju' and let Susan and the team look after you.

My family (2 adults & 3 teenagers) holidayed in Bali in Oct 2010 and can honestly say Villa Salju is one of the best places we've holidayed at (anywhere in the world).
Plenty of space, beautifully appointed and a pool area that is devine. The day-bed and balinese style entertaining area is a great communal area for relaxing with a drink after a hot days shopping or sight-seeing.
All the villa staff and driver are magnificent and will cater for your every need. The driver is a must as there's not a lot of dining out options around the villa itself but a short drive will take you to Seminyak where there is a wealth of dining options. Don't miss Queen Tandoor in Seminyak if you are looking for a top quality Indian meal at a very reasonable price.
We hope to return soon.

The villa had everything we needed and we cooked our own breakfast and lunch most days. The highlights were definately the pool, gardens, and large bale. The day bed in the garden was long enough to fit both of us and we spent many mornings lazying around with a book. There was only two of us but the villa would be perfect for a family or a group of friends. The location is quite isolated so you definately need and use the driver and car. Left on 03/11/2010 for a stay in June 2009
In June last year we attempted a very ambitious thing - to take our entire family on an overseas holiday. We are a family of seven and had a new, 6 month old baby to boot. We need not have worried, it was an amazingly great adventure - thanks largely to the wonderful accommodation and team at Villa Salju. Add to this, the lovely way of life in Bali.
Putu greeted us on arrival with beautiful hand-made frangipani laes...we were then driven in the Villa 4-wD - very comfortable - Canggu and our lovely villa. Sitting in the midst of verdant rice paddies, the surroundings were stunning. Inside, we were not disappointed - our expectations exceeded by the gorgeous villa with its beautiful decor, cool floors, lovely green pool and garden with day beds. Our family was very excited. A meal was also awaiting us in the dining room - we couldn't believe our luck. I must commend all the staff, Tari the housekeeper, Ngurah the property manager, Putu our driver; from start to end - it was a truly wonderful stay and our family keep asking if we can return soon.
Canggu is very well located and close to the beach a Seminyak and great restaurants, shopping and bars. WE regularly walked down to a local warung / restaurant called Sukerti's that was great and if we needed any supplies - the Canggu Deli was very handy.
The villa was so well equipped and it was great to have on hand, information on where to go, what to do etc - this was very helpful.
We really loved our stay and recommend it to everyone. -

Sunshine Coast, QLDA unique experience
Left on 12/27/2009 for a stay in December 2009
Our family recently spent 10 nights at Villa Salju in Canggu Bali, near Seminyak. We had the most wonderful holiday, so many interesting and different adventures, and got to see so much of Bali. Thankfully, the cost of the rental included a driver, who was happy to work beyond his 8 hours a day for overtime. The villa is surrounded by beautiful rice paddies, and though somewhat isolated,is in walking distance of the beach. However, we chose to explore different local parts of Bali, so the driver was essential. The three bedrooms are all very spacious, and air-conditioned! The garden and pool, and outdoor areas all beautiful and relaxing. We would gladly recommend Villa Salju to anyone and hope to return one day soon.

Nothing had prepared me for the wonderful experience I had while staying at Salju Villa, and the extreme care to detail and consideration in all areas which Susan and her team gave us.
Besides the home being very beautiful with all amenities and comforts provided, it was thoroughly cleaned daily. The swimming pool was a treat!
We also had the experience of around the clock driver, (of course in a very new vehicle), to take us to all destinations. He also had a great command of English, and was such fun!
Our stay was relaxing, as well as informative.
Susan knew the very best restaurants, the best shopping precinct, and where to find the best coffee and French Pastries.
I can't wait to return!
Thank you Susan and your wonderful team.
Liz.

Hahndorf, South AustraliaA Beautiful Bali Experience

I stayed at this villa with two friends and can really recommend the house and my stunning upstairs bedroom with its huge ensuite bathroom and the views from the upstairs balcony out over the adjoining paddy fields. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, yoga or shopping it was wonderful to slip into the deep and refreshing plunge pool and then relax in shady bale where we sat and enjoyed our gin and tonics in the evening. The main shopping streets and a variety of restaurants are within easy reach by car, as is the beach. The kitchen is fully equipped with every amenity and really makes you want to buy supplies from the markets and prepare your own meals. Once you come to stay you will not want to leave.

The Villa Salju is a beautiful place to stay, the housekeeping service is excellent and the driver Putu brings you safely to any place on Bali. I recommend a trip to the vulcan Batur or a visit to the temple Pura Tanah Lot which is not far a way.
The house is surrounded by rice fields and is lovely furnished. It offers everything you need for a really relaxed holiday...
I had a lovely time.
Thank you so much Villa Salju team.

Perth WAThe Best of Bali

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon. It was amazing! A luxury house that felt like home. We spent plenty of time in the beautiful pool, used the well-equipt kitchen to make delicious meals and most of all spent the evenings watching the sun set on the next door rice fields. The view from the second floor was always magical. It really was the best of Bali, close to all Bali has to offer, while secluded and peaceful.
The service was fantastic too. And the house was always looked after immaculately.
We often bought great food from the Canggu Deli down the road and visited the 'black' beach just 10 minute walk from the house. The sand is almost completely black at this beach due to volcanic activity many years ago - it was an amazing sight.
When I return to Bali, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. -

In the evening, we arrived at Bali International Airport and Putu from the Villa Salju Team was already waiting there with a big sign with our names on and a flower chain. On the way to the villa, we drove along rice flieds while Putu was giving us a first introduction about Bali in fluent English! This was the moment when I started to feel really relaxed because I realised that I am in good hands.
I felt overwhelmed by the picturesque beauty when we arrived at the Villa Salju. The villa was surrounded by rice fields, palms and was even more beautiful than words can tell, as you can see on the photo. The kitchen with it impressive modern style and the openess to the living room was the first thing which I recogniced after entering the villa. The combination of modern and traditional style we could find in the whole villa. The bedroom was decorated in the same way and I felt like being in my own home.
A few minutes from the villa you will find wonderful restaurants where you can eat delicious dishes. If you would like to have a drink afterwards a few bars are waiting. Back in the villa you can enjoy this silent place while looking into the stars listening to the wind....
Reviewing the week in which we stayed in the Villa Salju I must say it was definetly too short. The combination about culture, beach and lifestyle is perfect on Bali.
Hope to have the chance to go back there very soon. For such a place I have been searching for a long time as I think heaven must be like this.
Dear Villa Salyu Team, thank you sooooo much for your warm and friendly treatment. All of you are great. See you soon again, hopefully.
