The Shamira is a beautiful story that unfolds in chapters. Unique doesn’t come close to describing this place – not so much built as evolved over time, piece by piece, to become the exquisitely eclectic home-away-from-home that it is today. The owners lived in The Shamira for many years, and after their children had grown up they moved on and turned it into a holiday rental villa. Guests can feel the spirit of their happy lives in every room through the photos on the walls and the huge variety of books and music on the shelves.

Walking into the rambling villa through the shady garden, you will be spellbound by the seemingly... never-ending softly-lit niches and alcoves. This is a haven to explore and then chill-out in, with 13 different sitting areas, both indoors and out; from the balé (relaxation pavilion) beside the pool, to the rooftop terrace, to the cushioned sofas dotted around the living and dining space. There’s plenty to read, including a huge collection of National Geographic, and even a full set of Encyclopaedia Britannica.

The garden is mature and overflowing with greenery, potted plants and splashes of colour, dominated by a large swimming pool. Antique furnishings, tasteful objets d’art and white orchids fill the rooms, enhanced by shell sculptures that hang from the rafters and serve as an audible reminder of the cool breeze blowing.

The Shamira is serviced by a ‘family’ of loyal staff including an excellent cook, housekeepers and security. There is a suggestion menu, and the food and beverage shopping will be done for you by the staff (all groceries on guest account).

With five romantic bedrooms and four bathrooms, this delightful home is perfect for families with children of any age: teens will find the place much to their liking thanks to the separate upstairs bedroom and the plethora of hidey-holes in which to escape from the oldies. Additional Location Information

The Shamira rests just a few hundred metres from Pantai Batu Mejan – also known as Echo Beach – at Canggu on Bali’s south-west coast. This developing area still features a rural rice-field landscape, but is also dotted with quite a few luxury rental villas and residences, plus a massive new villa-hotel complex beside the beach. Hotel Tugu, a fascinating living museum of priceless antiques is just 500m away, while Echo Beach itself is a lively social scene with a line of ever increasing restaurants, surfer hangouts and a few small boutiques resting upon a beachside buff. For surfers, this beach offers an exposed reef break with consistently good surf. May to October (dry season) is the favoured time for waves. A short drive takes you to the Canggu Deli (4km), which is useful if you want to stock up with gourmet food, although provisioning is willingly undertaken by the villa staff on your behalf.

  A true experience of luxury!
  As you would expect all the mod cons but what our party enjoyed was the comfort we felt in staying in an enviroment that feels like a home, not a stamped out same same you often get in a luxury property.
  Breakfast , lunch and dinner were amazing with local produce cooked by the most cheerful staff, at times with us looking on . Gin and tonic in hand.
  The pool and grounds are paradise. Truley a place to relax and catch a few rays, listen to some tunes or just lay back and read a book.  It was luxury!
  Enjoyed the great beaches and surf all within a short stroll away along with some of Bali's best local warongs. We loved the Echo beach at sunset. 
  
  We booked again , can't wait!

  Alison and Yanto provide a luxurious, top notch, absolutely delightful vacation experience.
  Yanto's local knowledge is invaluable, and they were extremely helpful whether it was sourcing bite cream, garden furniture, or wine.
  The villa is wonderfully appointed, and the, (numerous) staff, work smoothly and efficiently to accomodate whims various.
  
  Travelling as two families, with 3 small boys, the amount of space meant we never felt cramped. The joke of the holiday was that we were hard pushed to utilise all the outdoor eating/ relaxing areas.
  The kids commandeered the gazebo and the media room, the former being a great den, and the latter by virtue of the air conditioned, was perfect for their 'downtime'. The grown ups could then chill by the pool with G&Ts; and books.
  The food was delicious, with both the Thai food, and the pasta, being declared total winners.
  Echo beach a stroll away, although we preferred the pool.
  Semanyak a short ride away has many first rate restaurants, albeit at Western prices.
  A wonderful holiday. Go visit them.

  The Shamira was everything we could have hoped for in a holiday villa. An architecturally beautiful house decorated in a melange of Balinese and European styling. Elegant and comfortable, the staff were superb, the cook was faultless and the whole experience was one we would happily repeat... and repeat! Set in a lovely, peaceful location with fabulous beach and restaurants close by.
