I was travelling just myself and 15 year old son. We decided on Villa Lior for the location and it looked great in the photos. David had a scooter for us when we arrived and having only ever been a passenger was a bit nervous, but after a few practice runs we were up and running and for us it was the best way to get around. My son surfs and it was less than 5 minutes bike ride to Echo Beach. Being amongst the rice paddies also gave a nice feeling of being amongst nature and out of the faster pace of Legian and Seminyak. The Villa itself is fantastic. It is better in reality than in the photos. The pool is perfect and I love the outdoor bathrooms. I felt quite safe there as the owners, David and Made are right next door and their dogs keep an eye on things. Made also runs a "warung" just up the road from the villa which you have to visit, the food is so good and the vegie burger is the best!!! Its called Kanteen. I would definitely stay here again, loved it, big thumbs up from us : )

Myself and my husband stayed here for 1 week during october. We had such an amazing stay and can't thank Dave enough for his warm welcome and kind hospitality. Villa Lior is set within very peaceful surroundings of paddy fields of Canggu. It definitely is a luxury resort with 2 complete separate bedrooms and bathrooms,an outside kitchen and sun decks all very tastefully designed to a high standard. The pool is beautiful and so relaxing. Dave and his wife were so helpful and kind, offering a driver and access to scooter bikes. Each morning, daves wife would bring us a yummy selection for breakfast to eat by the pool in the outside kitchen. My husband enjoys surfing and we were close to the beach, in which Dave organised board hire and recommended areas to go. Canggu is a small quiet area, but with lovely beaches and restaurants very close. One night, we hired the driver to take us to semminyak to watch the sunset and another night we visited a friend in nusa dewa. We would definitely recommend Villa Lior, it is ideal for any age to escape and relax, it is also very well catered for families. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Communication was great leading up to our stay. Room was lovely, clean with comfortable bed and air con. I've visited Bali 11 times and the best stay to date. My partner and I stayed here 2 weeks, if we could have we would have stayed longer. Amazing area; rice field, swimming pool and Zen garden.. Very friendly staff, Dave and Made make you feel so welcome. It's just 5 minutes driving to the best beaches and restaurants in Canggu area. We definitely recommend this Villa Lior during travelling in Bali.

Villa magnifique et confortable. Service impéccable : petit dejeuner de fruits frais et omelette tous les matins. Ménage fait tous les jours et serviettes/draps changés tous les 3 jours.
Parfait avec 2 enfants ! Les proprietaires sont super sympas et très dispos. Spots de surf accessibles a pied. Je conseille fortement cette zone vraiment tranquille par rapport à Kuta. -

I was at this place with my newly wed wife for a couple of days on our Honeymoon. The owner David was amazingly warm and got us from the airport, had lovely flowers in our bedroom... He arranged for our mobile phone sims, a scooter on rental, a car on rental...
The place is right in the middle of rice fields and be ready to see that it is a perfect match of the photographs, thankfully no games played... The place is very close to the beach and lovely joints for food of all tastes...
David also suggested us some nice places closeby for candle light dinners on the beach, my wife just loved it...
We stayed in a very expensive hotel just after this in private villas, and were just missing David very much...
I would recommend this place to couples and families as a beautiful personal home away from home... -

Thanks David and Made- Peter and I loved our holiday with you . After a busy work year it was really great to only have to worry about what to have for breakfast each day. Yando is a very well trained young gent and was unobtrusive with his care but if any there was an issue he was there. Made your breakfast were to die for thank you.
The villa was very clean and spacious and we loved the way you guys welcomed us. We are hoping on a return trip but not sure when. Thanks again for a great stay - we would , and have, recommended your beautiful villa to friends and family -

We stayed at Villa Lior in July 2012 and it was just fantastic, David amd Mardi were friendly, helpful, great cooks and Lior sooo very cute - we felt like family and the accommodation was beautiful. We can't recommend Villa Lior highly enough and yes we will be back.

Villa Lior was the perfect place to stay on our recent trip to Bali. Away from the madness of Kuta and Seminyak yet close enough for the occasional shopping trip or dinner.
It was great to explore Canggu and find some magical spots close by. Echo Beach as well as Tugu has great restaurants plus we were so close to Deus and the wonderful Canteen which has the best coffee and awesome breakfasts (thanks Made!)
We stayed here on two separate occasions with friends each time and it was the perfect space for two couples. Loved the pool and the swim up bar and especially loved the donut! (the swim up bar did involve a kind husband or friend passing Bintang from the fridge!)
David and Made made us very welcome and when we returned after a few days in Bingin it felt like we were coming home.
Will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting a bit of luxury in the peace and tranquility of Canggu.

I stayed at Villa Lior for eight days over Jan and was very impressed. The villa is awesome value, classy, immaculately well kept and the pool the stuff you dream about regularly whilst looking out your office window!
David and his family are extremely welcoming and helpful and seem to be around as much or as little as you need.
Canggu has a cool vibe and I loved being outside the tourist trappings of Seminyak tho u r still close enough tonpopnin every day/night without it being a hassle. One hundred percent recommend Villa Lior and thoroughly enjoyed our dealings w David and family and our time there. -

I was introduced to Villa Lior by Bali friends soon after it opened in 2010. I live in Jakarta and come to Bali often to get away from the madness of the capital. Since that first stay at Villa Lior I have not bothered to seek out an alternative as I am completely satisfied with all it offers whether it be the friendly manner of David & Made, the cleanliness, the fantastic layout or just its location close to beaches and restaurants. If you don't need the traffic and clutter of other areas of Bali, this is the place for you. Have now stayed at Villa Lior over 20 times

my girlfriend and I stayed at villa lior along with my brother who met us there from Perth australia. The time we spent there was truely incredible! the villa itself is peacefull and superbly set out. its set in the quiet paddi fields of canggu however is only down the road from the world class canggu surf n beaches.
Dave and Made (the villa owners) made us feel extremely welcome from the second we arrived. they have great knowledge of the area and helped us out by booking tables at the best restaurants in the area, booking taxis and even organising a balianise masseure to visit the villa and give my girlfriend a relaxing massage and spa treatments whilst I went for a surf.
I will without a doubt be revisting villa lior again as it was a mind blowing experience. -

My husband and I stayed at Villa Lior with another couple and it was the perfect Bali getaway for us. We didn't want to stay in the crazy mess of Kuta, Seminyak or Ubud. But we wanted to be close enough to be able go if we wanted to do some shopping or to grab something to eat.
The location was perfect as we surfed almost everyday at either Canggu or Echo Beach. Both beaches are very close and great spots for beginners and intermediates.
David, Made and team were the best and made it so easy for us. They got us two motorbikes to rent for dirt cheap. Also, they gave us a mobil phone to use at no cost. Airport pick up and drop off were arranged ahead of time. We loved one of the art pieces in the room so much that they arranged for us to meet with the artist so that we could purchase it. It almost felt as if we were visiting our friends in Bali and they had an extra villa next door for us to use for a couple of days.
Villa Lior will not disappoint! It really deserves the 5 star ratings by all the users.

I find that often when you re-visit the return is not always as good as your first experience. This certainly was not true of my return to Villa Lior. My first visit was fantastic yet my second visit was even better. The Villa is even more beautiful as the gardens and plants have matured and been carefully nurtured. The hospitality of David, Made and the staff as excellent as before, I was given the all the respect and service a customer expects but on top of that I was treated as an old and valued friend. Little Lior, whom the villa was named after, with his gentle antics, added the finishing touch to make me feel part of the family. This familiarity in no way encroached on my privacy. At Villa Lior you get all and more, much more, than you pay for. Villa Lior is not just high quality accommodation; it is a unique experience that includes relaxation and warm friendship.

It was lovely to return to Villa Lior again this year & to see David, Made and Lior, The villa is the same although this year the plants &trees; were looking more lush which all added to the wonderful ambience.Made & David made us very welcome and it felt like home because everything in the villa was familiar.
This year the weather was really hot so the pool was ideal refreshing in the morning& relaxing at night especially with the lighting.Breakfasts were fabulous as always, the gorgeous fresh fruit. I had an interesting one morning with Made to the local market, the stalls set up at 4 am, we got there at 7.30 & it was busy with so much produce of all shapes, sizes & smells! It was a great time to be out before it got too hot and everyone at the market was friendly & helpful.That night Made cooked roast chicken lots of roast potatoes and her famous chocolate pudding!
The children Helena 16 & Callum 14 spent most of their time surfing with the local aussie children getting to the beach on the back of the bike with Dad, only 10 minutes away. The walk down to the nearest beach is easy and interesting passing by some local houses and shops as well as small villas and losmen. Beautiful local fishing boats on the beach which is huge and sandy.
We hired a motorbike for a few days and Philip and Helena went to Ubud to look at the art galleries and had a fabulous time.
We took a taxi for Seminyak which was very trendy and checked out the new Deus ex machina cafe there & some great galleries. We recommend the taxis as they are cheap and easier than trying to negotiate the roads. We all love the villa, the family and the way of life, we will be back sometime soon. -

This place is so cool. Totally recommend it, its actually even nicer than the pictures on this site! It really has that wow effect when you first arrive. I've stayed in some of the top boutique hotel around the world and this place is up there with them. We walked to the nearby Deus, a new hangout restaurant and bar - a kind of arty/surfer place with really nice food and the beach is really close too. The bathroom is super cool and i'll can't recommend it enough for anyone looking for a luxury and cool local spot to stay in Bali. -- Enjoy!

I went to Villa Lior with my wife on our honeymoon and we both couldn't have been happier. The service that Madi and David gave us was top notch. Everyday, we would ask advice about the different places to visit, and they were always very helpful. With their help, we discovered some wonderful spots to visit. The villa itself was excellent. Nice, comfy and spacious rooms with wonderful artwork decorating the whole place. The swimming pool is a really nice size, perfect for a few leisurely laps. Cleaning staff come at regular times and always leave your rooming feeling fresh and welcoming, everyone working in the villa are very friendly and considerate. Very close by are a couple of beaches. I remember that one is called 'Echo Beach'. Echo beach is more touristy, with a few bars and restaurants. In fact, we had our first meal at a restaurant here, and it was one of the best of the whole trip. Also very close by is a bar called 'Deus'. This bar has live music, great food, an art gallery and a clothing shop. It's an all in one location, and well worth a visit. One thing I would recommend is the ability to drive a scooter, be warned that the roads are pretty hairy though! If you can't drive a scooter, it's not a big deal, becuase Madi's father drives a taxi and gives a very good rate, just make sure to give them lots of notice about your plans and how long you need travel for, it helps everyone out, including yourself as you can make plans easier that way. My wife and I were pretty easy going and decided to go with his recommendations of places to visit, and he took us to some really great places. In conclusion, Villa Lior is a great place to stay in Bali. It was my first time in this beautiful country, and the trip was made all the more enjoyable thanks to Madi and David's hospitality. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Having been coming to Bali for 5 years now Villa Lior is by far the best villa I have stayed in. It exceeded all my expectations. I came here the first time with my boyfriend and it was absolutely perfect for a romantic luxurious getaway. The second time I came was with another couple and their children and we could have total privacy, enjoying the pool but we could also mix in with the host family which the children absolutely loved. The owners have a superb local knowledge and make coming here so easy, relaxing and fun. Cannot wait to go back!

Last augustus we stayed at villa Lior.
From the moment we were met at the airport, until the moment we were dropped off again for our return journey, we were made to feel so welcome by David and Made, their family and friends. During our stay the villa was kept in excellent order inside and out (garden and pool). The kitchen has with everything you would need. The villa was very clean . It has a big swimming pool surrounded by a beautiful private garden. We had a very enjoyable stay at "Lior" holiday villa. All in all a thoroughly relaxing holiday on the beautiful & friendly Island of Bali. The only downside was having to come home.
