Sandpoint, IdahoGreat Location.
Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The location is fabulous. I didn't get into my car the entire week of vacation. The house was adequate but in my opinion needs some serious upgrades. It is an a-frame with the only decent bedrooms upstairs and the only shower downstairs. Though the stairs leading to the two nice bedrooms were treacherous -not made for an elderly person. The shower is in a laundry room/bathroom and is not decent. The master bedroom had a lousy double bed mattress. The other problem was the sliding door to the lovely backyard was almost impossible to slide open and there was no screen door. We also were unable to get the dvd player to work consistently and it was an ancient television. All that being said I might rent it again because of the location!

What a location! What beautiful grounds! Funky rustic cottage, not your cookie cutter home. Very clean and supplied with all the extras, including a BBQ to cook salmon!
The rental company was great and wanted to enhance our stay in any way they could. No hair dryer in the home, I mentioned this to to Tommy, he bought a brand new within hours of my request!
The staff really wants guests to have a cannon beach experience. -

Reservation staff were helpful before rental. Check-in was quick and efficient. House is in a wonderful location, right on the beach and close to downtown. Home is comfortable and clean.
On the downside, we were disappointed/ unhappy with the stairs, which are steep and dangerous. We had small children (kindergarten and under) with us who could not be safely allowed to go up/down stairs by themselves. The two 60-somethings with us also found the stairs difficult. We feel that we should have been warned about the dangerous stairs. -

Ecola Haven is an excellent spot for families with kids. Being right on the beach was amazing and such a short walk to the shops. The only suggestion would be to replace the couch and the "lazy boy" chair. Uncomfortable to even sit in! The stairs were really steep for our 3-year old, but still a wonderful a-frame. We would stay here each year!

Rockford, ILGreat location! Nice cabin.
Left on 08/04/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This cabin is located on an ideal location at the North end of Cannon Beach. You can walk out of the cabin onto the beach at the North end of the beach which is where you are protected from the wind and where kids can play in the creek.

We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin. It turned out to be more spacious than we expected from the pictures and was well equiped with kitchen supplies, towels, etc. Felt we received excellent service and really appreciated the coffee!

Redmond, WARelaxing in a great location
Left on 07/03/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We had a great time. My wife was using crutches following a hip operation and the position close to town and close to the beach was fabulous and we barely used the car for the week. Our five and a half year old boy and three and a half year old girl had a great time building sand castles and flying our kite. The stairs at Ecola Haven are steep but didn't cause a problem for us. The stove looks as though it is from the 70's but was totally functional and there is a mirowave as well.
Although the weather wasn't perfect every day we could still see the sea on a stormy day and there was plenty of space for us to spread out and relax. -

We booked our reservation just 1 week before we arrived. Cbvr was very helpful getting the rental agreement emailed over to us to sign and approve. We loved the location, as the home sits right on the beach and is within walking distance to restraunts and shops. It was a great time and very relaxing. Oh, and the weather was good too.

Quirky place but perfect for a low key family getaway. Brought out dog and loved having the fresh water nearby for him to wash off in after swimming in the ocean.

Nice house that is clean and convenient to stay in, wich all necessities to make stay very pleasant (including games with all necessary pieces). The view is great, and the convenience to downtown is a strong plus. My only complaint would be the poor quality of the beds, which need to be replaced.

Always expect a change in the weather every few hours and dress for the worst and you'll be prepared for the best! This a-frame cabin was perfect for our family of seven adults, one eight year old grandson, and a happy-to-be-at- the-beach dog! An older cabin, but cozy in every way, it was just what we needed for a get away weekend. We ate most meals at the cabin (only lacking exhaust fan in kitchen and bathrooms); a short walk into town for extra goodies was no problem, and added to our sightseeing. When we called for propane for the grill, it was delivered immediately. This place is older and wearing gently, but we were very comfortable, and the narrow staircase was manageable. So conveniently private with direct access onto the beach, we would love to stay again.

The stairs to the upstairs are a little tricky, one needs to use care to get up and down. The bathroom in the bedroom makes it harder to share with the other bedroom upstairs. The location is good, being right on the river so it's out of the wind from the ocean. It's convenient to town.

Great place! Good beach access. Easy downtown access.
Even though we had some trepidation about the stairway, we had no problems. It is sturdy and insires confidence. Our 80 year old mother slept upstairs! A recent knee replacement 50+ year old (youngest of the group) and her husband took the lower bedroom. We all enjoyed the deck and cooking out on the new grill! The weather was unusually great and we walked to most of our shopping and window shopping excursions. During our "lazy" moments (most of the time). We watched the antics of the rather large pelican population on the Ecola River. Good views of Haystack rock are to be had in an easy 2 or 3 minute walk down the river to the ocean. We saw two wedding parties that took off their shoes and waded across the river to get the perfect portaits on Saturday.
To be picky: The stove needs some kind of venting. I couldn't get the toaster to stop toasting as if it was on the "bagle" setting. The "pitch" on the deck and outdoor funiture was hard to remove even with the supplied special cleaner. (Whew! I had to strain the brain to come up with 3 things!)
I highly acclaim the service we received. a question about the propane brought an immediate delivery of a new tank so we wouldn't run out over the weekend. A set of forgotten keys was over-nighted the next day. The place was well maintained and cleaned.
We all would highly recommend EcolaHaven and look forward to staying there agsin. -

Left on 09/05/2009 for a stay in August 2009
This is the second time we stayed in Ecola Haven. We most appreciate that the beach is right out the front door and it's also a short walk to town. The vacation home is well-equipped including a new and improved barbeque. It's wonderful to have a washer and dryer so conveniently located.
We moved some of the outdoor lounge chairs upstairs to block the hole to the stairway in order to protect the children.
We suggest that you put some covering on the frame of the bed in the downstairs bedroom. The metal projects and caused at least four cuts and major bruises even once we were aware of it.
Thank you for making the space available. -

Left on 09/03/2009 for a stay in August 2009
The rental people were great, friendly and prepared for our arrival. It was easy to get the keys and necessary information.
The home was "quaint". It is older and a bit dark but comfortable. The stairs are challenging. Not very good for older folks. The upstairs bathroom affords no privacy (a curtain might help). The rest of the living space was fine.
The location is WONDERFUL. It is a few steps to resturaunts, shopping, art shops, etc. The beah access was really good too.
The best feature is the deck and yard facing the ocean. The feature I liked least was the stairs and lack of privacy in the upstairs bathroom. -

Left on 09/02/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We have stayed at Ecola Haven for the last 8 years. Though it is a bit older, we love the location - being on the beach and walking distance to town. Being on the north end of the beach is great because it's never crowded. The yard is fenced and we are able to bring our small dog. This house has needed love for a long time. This year we felt like there were many upgrades and we were very pleased (i.e. the new gas grill!). This house is very comfortable and clean. The only drawback would be the steep stairs going up to the second floor. It's not very safe for small children. We will continue to stay here as long as it is a rental.

Left on 08/15/2009 for a stay in July 2009
This house could not have a better location... especially if you are traveling
with children. The house itself is just okay. We didn't mind the funky factor
and the upstairs tub is charming, but the kitchen was poorly appointed-didn't
have enough cups/glasses for 6 people and the cooking utensils were pretty
bad. The couch chairs seemed kind of dirty/old. It just seems ready for a little
infusion of TLC.
The house itself was clean though and the managers were super
friendly/helpful. Overall we had a fantastic time, with the park, town, the river
and beach all just seconds from your door. -

I had to cancel my reservation d/t unforseen circumstances. Fortunately, I had not yet signed the rental agreement contract that was sent to me via email. When I called the office to let them know of my situation they were very courteous and understanding of my situation and did not give me a hard time or attitude about the necessary cancellation. I really appreciate the way the handled my call. I will definitely book with them again for my next beach vacation!

Ecola Haven is a lovely A-frame. The house is comfortable and has a good view. It is next to the beach. Ecola Creek separates the beach from the ocean, but it is easy to walk on the sand to the ocean. The street dead ends, so there is not a lot of traffic. The house is within walking distance of town, so anything you want to see or do is easy to reach. -

washington statedarling cabin, but has some quirks...
Left on 12/11/2008 for a stay in August 2008
We have stayed at the Ecola Haven three summers in a row and have found it to be very cozy and comfortable. The ocean is wonderfully close, you can walk to the village of Cannon Beach easily, yet the location feels uniquely private. It has a washer and dryer which really saves on packing.
There were several issues we encountered however:
The kitchen, although well-appointed, was dirty... which really bugged us. It looked like it had been "freshened up" for quests, but there was alot of grime along the counters and stove area. The refrigerator drips water and soaked our food--two years in a row.
The bathroom toilet seats should REALLY be replaced. They are old, chipped and cracked--and impossible to clean. This would be a cheap repair. One of the downstairs bathrooms has a sink whose plunger gets stuck and won't drain until my husband fixes it.
The T.V. in the living room didn't work last time. I know this may sound trivial, but occassionally after a day on the beach, our family looks forward to watching a movie together. I called and requested to have it fixed or replaced...but nothing was done about it during our stay.
The staircase is simply dangerous for elderly people and tiny kids. It looks like an old metal fire escape. It is very steep and has little headroom. Personally, I didn't mind this quaint little obstacle course... but some would not be able to maneuver those stairs.
The hot water is great for washing dishes, but is so hot that it would literally scald a child if they accidently bumped the lever in the shower or tub.
Overall the Ecola Haven is not perfect, but it is fun and we love going there. With just a handful of corrections, (none of them very expensive) that little place would really shine.

Left on 12/05/2008 for a stay in August 2007
This House was great! Unfortunately it was a replacement home to the first home we rented, We originally rented a 2 bd. house with a FENCED YARD. it was right on the beach. We were offered Ecola Haven, we accepted because we were told many times that the yard was also fenced. IT WAS FENCED ON TWO SIDES ONLY!Open to the beach. Many dogs came in the yard and threatened our animals, so we spent most of our vacation making sure our two young dogs did not get outside. eventually we had to buy some chains and tether them in the yard so they could be around us. We and our dogs were miserable! Very disappointed in Cannon Beach Vacation Rentals for mis-stating facts about this home.
The home itself was great!I mailed a letter to CBVR regarding this issue, Have not heard a word from them. Too bad. Lost customers here. -

Left on 12/03/2008 for a stay in August 2008
This little house has a lovely location and that is the main thing that
keeps us coming back. We have stayed here about 3 or 4 times
spanning 15 years or so. It is a little worse for the wear now. A
couple of things need replaced (deck chairs) and the bed in the master
bedroom is pretty unstable (feels like it's about to fall off its frame)
even for us old fogies who have been married 25 years--just crawling
into bed feels a bit precarious! The kitchen is pretty well stocked,
though the fridge seems to be internally leaking water (I kept finding
puddles on top of saran-wrapped leftovers I had put in there). It's a
great location and a a cute house that needs a little $$ put back into it
to bring it up to speed. -

We were so unhappy with this property that we requested a move elsewhere. the refrigerator was not working. The advertised DVD was non-existant, the living room television was a tiny portable and not hooked up to cable. TV in downstairs bedroom didn't work. Inside was kind of dreary and the narrow, winding, metal staircase was so steep it was scary to try and carry things up to the next level. It was also not safe for children. Very disapointed in this property.
