Brandon, Suffolk, UKBeautiful cottage close to Canterbury and Dover, run by friendly
Left on 12/06/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We were welcomed at the cottage by Doreen and the cottage was beautiful. It is set on a farm with a couple of other cottages, a pair of donkeys, and a children's outdoor play area. The cottage fit our family of five nicely. Our three children fit nicely, two in the twin beds and another in a travel cot which was provided (along with other baby-friendly necessities such as a highchair and push chair. The cottage has a reasonably equipped kitchen. The cottage was located very conveniently in Kent, near Canterbury and Dover (our points of interest). We would stay again due to the convenience, reasonable pricing, and friendly service.

We have returned many times to Hawthorn Farm and this was our second time in Friars Cottage. Its set in beautiful surroundings and then again by orchards and lovely countryside for lovely walks. Friars Cottage offers you all you will need in the way of home comfort. It has two double size bedrooms one with two single beds. All bed linen included. The kitchen has its own washer/dryer, fridge freezer, microwave and electric cooker and everything you could need. The living/dining room is quite comfortable with tv/dvd player, radio/cd player, 2 two seater settees and has its own book case. The bathroom is beautifully tiled and towels are included.
Our 13 year old small terrier loves it there and knows the regular routine there now.The rest of the family are now making Hawthorn Farm their get away too.
Steve and Doreen are a very warm and friendly couple and are easily approachable if the need arises. -

BrugesFriendly, comfortable and a beautiful location
Left on 10/31/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Once a year we go to Kent with a group of people with a disability.
After a long journey, with the boat and the car, it's always nice that the owners of your accommodation are waiting for you when you arrive. So when we arrived, they immediately came to our cars to great us and show us around. It was a warm welcome.
There are four different houses. There's one bigger than the others, but they are all comfortable.
In one house, the biggest one, you have enough space for people who have a wheelchair. Which was necessary for our group.
The location is very beautiful. Even when it's cold, the donkeys and the very energetic dog give you the warmth you need. It's also very peaceful out there.
There's a tearoom in the area, but if you want to go to a shop or to the city, you'll need a car.
The houses are always very clean and you have a good amount of space in the rooms. The bathroom isn't luxurious, but it's good enough. The bathroom in the biggest house is adapted to people in a wheelchair.
In general it's a good accommodation, it's a peaceful place and the owners are friendly people. I would recommended it.

This was our second stay at Hawthorn Farm and that says it all really. Doreen and Steve made us very welcome in their usual calm and friendly way. The cottage was perfect for our needs (2 adults and 2 dogs) and is located in a quiet lane near the village of ash. Lots of walks on the doorstep and the lovely areas of Sandwich, Ramsgate and Deal all within easy reach. The facilities at the farm cater for all age groups and we are trying to plan a holiday there with our children and grandchildren. Lots of space for the little ones to tire themselves and bbq facilities for those lovely summer evenings. We would recommend Hawthorn Farm to anyone who wants a nice rural holiday and still be in easy reach of the Kent coast and countryside.

We (3 adults, 1 young child) stayed in Friars cottage for a 3 day holiday. The service and whole stay was absolutely great, from the welcome we received, through to saying goodbye to Steven & Doreen, our newly made friends. The cottage was spotlessly clean, decorated in a lovely style, comfortable and spacious, with all the self catering equipment and amenities needed for our stay, including a washer/dryer - essential with children! The weather held enough for us to make use of the pretty garden and picnic area, and also to meet the donkeys, chickens and friendly dog!
Hawthorn Farm is a lovely rural location within easy driving distance to local village amenities, and further places of interest, such as Canterbury, and the medieval cinque ports of Dover, Deal and Sandwich. Immediately on the doorstep is a lovely walk down to the river through fruit orchards.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the highlight was the warm and friendly welcome we received, and the quality of the accommodation, which made the rest of our stay stress free and comfortable. We will definitely return.
