Left on 12/11/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We had the pleasure of staying at Belle Kaye for 10 days. The apartment was really comfortable, well equipped and very clean. There is a nice pool area with a great view of Rodney Bay. The apartment also has fast internet connection and cable TV with an abundance of channels. The owner of Belle Kaye, Eroy, was incredibly helpful and kind; he even gave us a little tour of the area on our first morning. During our stay, he went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.
Belle Kaye is in a good location between the Cap Estate and Gros Islet, and where you can easily get to Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay. We didn’t rent a car and managed to travel around easily on foot and by bus from Gros Islet (ten minutes walk) into Castries and Rodney Bay. There are buses that sometimes pass Belle Kaye but these are not that frequent. If you’re not keen on walking it may be good to rent a car, but it is not essential.
We have travelled a lot in the Eastern Caribbean, and Belle Kaye has been the most comfortable place we have stayed. This is a lot to do with how helpful the owner is to all his guests.
There are very few self catering apartments of this standard and affordability in St Lucia.
When we return to St Lucia we will definitely be coming back to stay at Belle Kaye.Response from Eroy - 12/13/2012

Such reviews are an asset in helping us to promote our accommodation to other prospective guests and your honest opinion is very much appreciated. We look forward to your return to St Lucia and to the opportunity of welcoming you back to Belle Kaye.

We had a great stay, my family of fifteen (15) members felt like home away from home. The place was clean and the owner and his wife was very friendly and helpful. He took us to see the island and even socialized with us. We got stranded at the beach and he went all out to make sure that we made contact with the rental company. All in all we had an awesome stay.

Very comfortable villa, with everything needed for a comfortable family stay. The villa itself has fast wireless internet access, an adequately supplied kitchen with gas stove, microwave, kettle, large refrigerator/freezer. Two bedrooms, of which the master bedroom is really big. Each bedroom has an en-suite shower. The bedrooms and living/kitchen/dining area each have powerful and effective a/C units.
Close (almost walkable) to beaches, Pigeon Island National Park, Restaurants, Rodney Bay marina, shops, mall, Scuba Steve's dive shop and International Pony club riding stables. Easy access to the atlantic coast beaches, the main town and crafts malls in the main town of Castries.
The villa, by itself, is a place we'd choose to go back to, but the real asset of Belle Kaye is the extremely attentive service we received from the manager and host Eroy and his family. Eroy was able to give us all the advice we needed about places to eat, what live music was available and where, and other activities to do and things to see. -

The manager at Belle Kaye was very helpful, drove us around the island and gave us little tours of the area. It was nice to have a local to show us around, who knows what beaches are the best to go to and where to take little day trips. He was very fun to talk to, and also brought us to some cool little spots for meals and to hear music!
The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cooking utensils.
The rooms were air conditioned, but also had windows to open for a nice breeze at night. Very clean place, and a lovely big porch with nice furniture to sit and look at the view. -

The location is very close to the Marina and Gross Islet where the action and restaurants are at night. Very good atention from Mr. Mcleod, the administrator.

As we do not like hotels very much we looked for an individually accommodation. We found it in "Belle Kaye". The description was accurate regarding the location and facilities.
The rooms were clean and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped with all you need. We felt very comfortable and would recommend this property.

We had a pleasant stay for 3 weeks. Eroy was a really nice and pleasant host who was always "ready to help us" even if we hardly could see him! The kindness and silence of his assistance was really convenient and he gave us the right feeling, so we could enjoy our stay very much.
From Cap Estate it's really nice to explore the island and thanks to the air conditioning in the sleeping room we have been able to sleep every night really good.
Eroy always takes his time to explain his gueats (if they want to) where it could be nice on his island and that helps a lot if you're there for the first time. If we return one day, then for sure Eroy will be the first one to be asked if there is space for us :-) -

We had visited St Lucia many times but this time as we were staying on business for a month, we were looking for a place not too far from town where we could feel at home.
Eroy, the owner, made it a perfect stay for us, always helpful and available for a chat. The apartments are simple but comfortable with the best views of the island and the beach is about 5mns walk, great for a morning run and dip... The kitchenette has all the necessary to cook and eat and there are tables and chairs on the veranda to enjoy breakfast or dinner by the pool.
If you are looking to experience island living for a few days or on business, this is a great place to stay. -

The apartment was tidy and everything was working to guarantee not to have unpleasant surprises. Mr. Eroy, the owner, has been really kind and helpful in renting the car as well (in the end a 4x4 was a must). The location is close an area rich of services, even if in the northern part of the island, so far away from the amazing Soufriere area. Finally i would say i can recommend Belle Kaye to everyone who either want to visit the island or want barely a relaxing beach and sea time in a selfcontained environment.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one week in august 2011. The location was beautiful, quiet, private and comfortable. The yard was relaxing and well kept. The pool is nice for a late night dip with your partner, not so much children. The house was well furnished and very comfortable and clean. There were tiny ants in the kitchen if you left anything out, but they don't bother you. The bedroom has air conditioner, which was nice for sleeping, and the house felt safe because of fencing, gates, and locks. I liked the whole rental experience, but found it a little pricey if you were to stay longer than a week.

We stayed at Belle Kaye for 1 month in January 2011 and it was great! The accommodation was simple but clean but it was the service provided by Eroy and Peter that really made it special. Eroy was a wonderful host and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable not only at Belle Kaye but in St Lucia in general. One point to note is that access to a car would be helpful given the location, however it's definitely manageable without with a bit of extra walking, which is what we did! I would definitely recommend Belle Kaye to others.

My husband and I spent two months from Jan.13 to March 17th at Belle Kaye.
We have travelled to many countries in the last twenty years and stayed in many apartments, condos and homes. We have never stayed anywhere where we have received so much individual care, attentiom and concern to make our holiday experience a positive one.
We stayed at beautiful Belle Kaye in one of Eroy's one bedroom apartments which was bright airy and tastefully decorated. We had a comfortable queen sized bed with lots of closet and drawer space. We did not require the air conditioner because the air flow in all rooms was excellent.
Anything required for cooking which wasn't in the apartment only had to be requested and it soon appeared, such as a large pot for cooking for several dinner guests.
Eroy's invitation to take us and introduce us to the variose activities offered at the local town of Gros Islet such as the Friday night Jump Up, Tuesday night Kerioki, special restaurants and waterfalls offered much enjoyment and appreciation for his interest and time in making our stay at Belle Kaye so memorable.
We were able to tour the whole Island's special places on the Caribbean and atlantic side because Eroy graciosly found the time to drive us and guide us with many excursions to experience the whole of St Lucia. What a beautiful island.
Our Belle Kaye vacation was special. I attribute it to the hospitality, kindness, respect and care we received during our memorable two months at Belle Kaye in St Lucia.

The owner of Belle Kaye gave us excellent and personal attention, i.e. taking us to the local fish fry, a Sunday Church service and to and from Pigeon Island. He also gave us an outstanding tour of the island at a fair price. The rental is located in a quiet area slightly out of town. The nearest bus stop was about 1 mile away.

We found the apartment very spacious and well furnished. Eroy was waiting for us, even though we didnt get there til after 7 at night, and was very helpful and informative about the Island. He organised a bbq one day for all of the guests, and took some of them down to the beach in his own car. He allowed us to use his own internet, free of charge, as we did not have a lap top with us. He left a bottle of Champagne for my wife, as it was her 60th birthday. There is a briliant view from the balcony, and it is close enough to Gros Islet, but you would need to get a bus or taxi to Rodney Bay.

Left on 01/30/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We stayed there 3 weeks in January 2011 with another couple: first night in 2 of the 1 bedroom suites, then moved to the 2 bedroom villa. We were misled as to the location and amenities of the villa in a number of areas:
- We were told that Belle Kaye was on a bus route. This isn’t quite the case. The nearest bus stop is a mile away near Gros Islet, so unless a bus has made a side trip up to Cap Estate you end up walking alongside a busy road to get anywhere. Return trips the bus drivers will usually go out of their way to drop you off at Belle Kaye, but only for an additional (and sometimes exorbitant) charge.
- We were told the Villa was â€further back on the estate’ and wouldn’t be bothered by road traffic noise. Further back on the â€estate’ meant we were actually closer to the road than the main building, and with the road being a busy one we ended up having to keep our windows closed at night with the a/c on to help drown out the noise.
- Nearest beach – we were told was a 10 minute walk. More like 15 going there, and 20 minutes back because it was mostly uphill. This beach was a lovely beach, but no washrooms or other facilities whatsoever, and much to our annoyance we ended up with sand fly bites that took a long time to heal. Pigeon Island Beach was a bit longer of a walk, but at least had some amenities.
- Were told that Rodney Bay/Reduit Beach was a walkable mile away: more like 2.5 miles so we ended up taking the bus when available, or a taxi otherwise. If staying at Belle Kaye you really need a vehicle (that is if you are comfortable on driving on the left hand side of the narrow roads, hills and roundabouts).
- The website led us to believe we were getting a â€luxury’ villa. Note that most the pics shown are of the 3 bedroom upper suite or the one bedroom suites (the only interior pics of the villa showed the kitchen/dining area and the large bedroom) This was far from luxurious as the living & dining area had uncomfortable furniture crammed into too small of an area; the one bedroom was ridiculously oversized with the 2nd bedroom uncomfortably small and awkward.
- First 3 days we were in the Villa, the fridge wasn’t working properly. By that time some of our food was spoiling and the only way to get a cold beer was to put it in the freezer for a while. The owner, Eroy, had a repairperson come take a look at it, but didn’t fix it. It wasn’t until we discovered that the interior light was staying on all the time & heating up the interior that the problem was â€fixed’ (we removed the bulb for the duration of our stay).
Be aware that:
* a gas barbecue is only available when Eroy borrows one from a friend (even then we didn’t get any bbq utensils until we’d had the bbq for a week);
* not all windows are screened and we found mosquitoes were a problem
* maid service is non-existent. We were led to believe we’d have twice weekly cleaning and change of linens & towels. This was actually just a supply of clean linens/towels. After many requests we finally got our floors cleaned after 2 weeks. We were only supplied with a 3’ broom that was falling apart which, once we complained, was replaced with a dust pan & hand brush set. On a further complaint we finally got a full size broom. Other basic cleaning items are not supplied.
* you are not allowed to hang out any wet bathing suits, towels, etc. on the balcony railings as Belle Kaye is part of the Cap Estate development and their rules prohibit this. You are expected to hang anything on the single retractable line in the shower to dry or use the clothes dryer. As we were diving while on St Lucia, it was impossible for us to hang our towels, wetsuits, and diving equipment on this small line. So we used the patio furniture to drape things on, and for a short time period would hang some things to drip dry on the chain link fence at the back.
* the stereo didn’t work (although Eroy assured us it did, but that it was finicky to use)
* if you wish to read in the evening, there is not enough light in the Villa to do so, as the wall lights are very low wattage and the bedside table lamps are small.
* parking is limited – we used our parking spot as a patio as the veranda on the Villa is too narrow to sit around a table
* telephone – will accept incoming calls, but for outgoing you’ll need to purchase credits
* the view from the Villa is mostly the parking garage under the main building, although from the 3 bedroom condo is very panoramic
* the â€fully equipped’ kitchen was lacking in a few areas – no ice cube trays (if there are any there, is because we purchased them for our use), only 1 serving bowl, and the coffee maker was actually a European style coffee press (which is fine if that is what you expect)
* small insects (ants?) were in the cupboards so we kept all our dry goods (cereal, crackers etc) in the fridge. Eroy supposedly sprayed the cupboards, but it did little good
* outdoor furniture was very flimsy white PVC. We were told the set at the Villa was relatively new, but after using it for a week the chairs were already starting to split. Peter, the caretaker, eventually brought his own chairs from home for our use.
Things to commend:
• nicely kept grounds
• reasonably comfortable beds (although they are only double size), with good quality sheets and nice coverlets
• nice pool, although it could use more loungers (only 2), and additional patio tables & chairs (only 1 table w/4 chairs for everyone’s use)
• wireless internet was reliable
• Eroy (owner) and Peter (caretaker) were hospitable - took us to the Gros Islet Friday night Jump-Up (fish fry), held a beachside bbq for all the tenants one afternoon, and were generally helpful in giving us information about the area.
On retrospect, we should have stayed in the main building in the 1 bedroom suites where we would have had more living space, a better outdoor space by the pool, been quieter and better to catch any evening breezes, rather than in the 2 bedroom Villa (price would have been the same also). But even then, it wouldn’t have made up for the many shortfalls.Response from Eroy - 02/03/2011
Owner
I have seen your reviews that you placed on the FlipKey site and I cannot believe that you would want to be so vindictive after all the efforts I put in to address any complaints you might have had. I don’t always expect favourable reviews from all my guests, but to actually try and destroy my business with half truths and exaggerated comments is beyond me. I did not try to mislead you and I am sure you know that. That's why I must proterst vigorously about what you have written.
It’s strange that both sets of guests, who stayed in the Villa prior to yourselves, already wants to return to Belle Kaye. In fact one set of guests wants to return as soon as the 25th of February and the problem I have is availability. In fact they are insisting that I find some way of accommodating them, even if I have to give up my own accommodation. So, the accommodation at Belle Kaye can’t be that bad and I am glad that most guests know how to appreciate someone else's efforts in ensuring that they are getting value for money!
Did you both know that refrigerators do breakdown? The refrigerator you had is about two and a half years old, so I didn’t intentionally provide a fridge that would breakdown as soon as you got to Belle Kaye! The fact is that the fridge did malfunction and as soon as it did I tried to get the problem rectified. I even provided you with a smaller working fridge immediately while I tried to get the broken one repaired. Not only that, I also offered immediately to replace any food that went bad and there was none in this state.
Ants, yes ants Gail and Gregg, will migrate to open biscuits, sugar etc. There were no ants in my cupboards, you left a packet of biscuits opened and they went for it. You came to me and complained about food that you had to throw away because of this and I offered to replace your half full packet of biscuits that you had thrown in the bin. You declined my offer and now you are complaining on a website. I hope you are happy with yourselves?
The bar-b-que was not borrowed from a friend, it was hired for three weeks whilst you was at Belle Kaye, for $200 which I paid from my own pocket! The lack of utensils was an over-sight and as soon as it was brought to my attention I went and got them and gave them to Otto. How come there was nothing said about the bar-b-que whilst you were at Belle Kaye?
Now let’s turn to the question of drying your wet suits. Where else did you want to dry them? Didn’t you hang them on the fence, the front of my air-conditioning units and about anywhere you could hang them while I turned a blind eye? Didn’t you just use my hose to wash them off without even asking me.? Be fair for once, where else would you have been able to do these things?
The space in front of your Villa was not car parking space! Why are you complaining about limited parking space, you did not have a car? Did you see anybody struggling for place to park?
Belle Kaye is on a bus route; it’s just as I told Otto, during the off peak hours the buses are infrequent.
Why didn’t you let me know that you couldn’t get the stereo to work, I would have ensured that it was working immediately?
You complained about my security lights being too bright and now you are complaining about dim lights in the Villa. Each energy saving lamps in the Villa are equivalent to 75 watts of incandescent lamps. There are two of these in the bedroom you were staying and I would have thought that this level of lighting was ample for reading. Nobody else have ever complained ! I agree about the bedside lamps but if you had let me know that it was a problem I would have addressed it immediately.
What did you want me to do regarding outgoing telephone calls; pay for them for you?
Do you know what the meter reader said when he came to read the meter a second time to verify that the first reading was correct.? He said to Peter, “What is the boss man doing in there”? The bill for the Villa is abnormally high for the period that you were there because it was caned and now I have to pick up the bill I remember pointing out, on more than one occasion, that the AC was running with the windows and door open and Gregg’s comment was that “I have told them”.
Belle Kaye prides itself on having a clean establishment and I cannot believe what you wrote about cleaning! I told you on arrival that we offer a change of linens and towels every three to four days and I stuck religiously to this arrangement. At times you even had surplus linen and towels in the Villa. I also told you that we offered an apartment service at the same frequency if you require it. I told you that most guests choose to just swap the dirty linens and towels for clean ones and do the servicing themselves. You chose to do just that. There were not “many requests” for cleaning. A mop was requested to mop the floor and I suggested that Peter gave the villa a thorough clean and that happened the very next day. I don’t even recall that either of you were around when this conversation took place?
You know, the time I am having to devote to protest your comments could be, and should be, spent doing more constructive things but I just can’t let your comments go unnoticed without at least ask you why you are doing this? I don’t know why you would devote so much time to write such a lengthy review, but I hope now you have done it you can now relax and feel really pleased with yourselves. For my part I will just have to try and find some more time to really protest your reviews. In the meantime I know that because your review will be the only one of its kind posted, I hope readers will see that it doesn’t really fit into the pattern of the other reviews and just skip over it as it is more than inaccurate.
In the meantime I thank you for your custom and the sure thing is that in your opinion Belle Kaye is not a good place to stay, so I won’t have to fear your return and more vindictive reviews..
I wish you well.
Kindest regards,
Eroy - Belle Kaye

As I was visiting St. Lucia on business I wanted to stay in self-catering accommodation so that I could come and go at my leisure. My stay at Belle Kaye enabled me to do just this, as well as being able to work without disturbance. My apartment was tastefully furnished and I enjoyed a wonderful from the verandah for relaxing.
I felt very much at home and the property manager was always on hand to provide valuable advice to a first time visitor.

I stayed at Belle Kaye for 2 week over the jazz festival period. Whilst there i had one of the most enjoyable holiday experiences that I have ever had. At first i was very apprehensive but they took time out to take me around the island and showed me most of the attractions.
As well as barbeques on the beach, early morning trips to the water fall (not to be missed) and clubbing they did it all. But the best part was experiencing St Lucia not as a tourist but as a local and that was the most valued experience for me.Those guys really took care of me in a way that I willl never forget and are now counted as valuable friends.
The only down fall was that i was only there for 2 weeks i could of happily remained and was kind of hoping that the volcanic ash returned!! I plan to return to St Lucia asap with my mum and sisters and we will definately be staying there again with no hesitation. -

One of the best places to stay. No pressure to go with the crowd, serene, clean, beautiful and the hospitality is beyond one's imagination. Very close to beaches, restaurants and transportation is always available. I will definitely return to BelleKaye

First encounter, over the internet with the owner Eroy, was excellent.e was patient & answered all my questions.A driver picked us up @ the airport. It is a 11/2 hr.drive to the apt...The small pool is a welcome site. The room was clean & represented just as the pictues. We stayed 5 weeks.
Peter was the caretaker,& there every day to help.I was sad to leave both the island & Peter,& once meeting Eroy in person ,he as well. This property was exactly as seen on the pictures.Very clean.
The island ,itself can present some challenges to get around.
Would go back...I would definetly stay @ this property -

A Christmas and New Year to remember. We stayed 3 weeks (1week in the 1 bed apartment on ground floor and when the family joined us , we took over the 1st floor accomodation which was fantastic. Eroy (the owner) made our stay, as he (together with his family) were the most welcoming hosts. The property is situated close to the beach (walking distance) but far enough from tourist resort (Rodney bay) that you didn't feel like a tourist!! A car is recommended though - you can however walk to Gros Islet for Friday 'jump up and Pidgeon Island - both highly recommended!!
I would like to think we will return there in the future, what is certain is that if we return to St Lucia we will definately stay there.

London, EnglandAn enjoyable stay

What a lovely place. The apartment I was in faced the pool. It was a good size, clean and bright and pleasantly furnished. The bed was very comfortable. The bedroom had an air conditioning unit and the front room a fan. There was a safe in the apartment. The kitchenette provided adequate cooking facilities; cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. The owner, Eroy, who also collected me from the airport, and Peter, the man who manages the site for him are both very helpful and friendly and ensured I enjoyed my stay, offering tips on where to go etc. It is a good base particularly if you want to travel around. It is away from Rodney Bay, which is good as it is quiet and you do not get the noise from the clubs in that area.
This place was extremely good value and I would definitely stay here again.

Immediately upon arrival I was impressed with the beauty of the area and its' cleanliness. Eroy was on hand to greet us and explain the do's and don'ts. Upon seeing our room and bath space we were impressed with what appeared to be cedar furniture. The kitchen was user-friendly and we made good use of this as we prepared meals out of the fresh fruit found in St.Lucia and from the supermart that was not too far away. We were allowed to play/listen to the stereo in the living-room which we found truly relaxing. The porch with its' wicker furniture lended an air of relaxation which we took advantage of whether we were eating or reading every day. The pool was kept in pristine order as we chose to use during the evening just before retiring for the night. All in all Belle Kaye was good value for the money and you couldn't find a more hospitable host than Eroy. Thank you Eroy we will be returning.

The apartment was clean, comfortable and welcoming. I really enjoy having the owner on site, as his knowledge and expertise of the Island enabled us to visit locations of historcal intrest and attractions, that were not normally seen by everyday tourists. This also enabled us to meet people from various background and cultures which we found extremely intresting and enjoyable. He was very helpful, reliable, informative, polite, flexiable and had a great sense of humour.

Belle Kaye was a fine enough place to stay nothing was wrong with the place it was just hard to get around. It would have been nice to have a car in order to explore more of Belle Kaye. However, for us it was just fine since we were attending a wedding and didn't have much time to explore anyway.

I stayed ay Bella Kaye for 3 days during the ICC 20-20 world cup. A very comfortable place to stay, amazing service and a great value for money...
A bit far off from the busy area - but that could be seen as a plus !
I would recommend it ... Absolutely !
