Description from the manager

This is a spacious house, which has been recently renovated to a very high standard with much of the exterior in an attractive coral stone finish. The villa is situated on Windward Hills and enjoys views of both the Atlantic and Caribbean Seas. The house is cooled by a constant breeze from the Atlantic Ocean. The villa is situated in an acre of landscaped garden that is fenced with access through a remote controlled gate. The villa is a short drive from an 18 hole Championship Golf course and Cotton Bay and Le Sport beaches. The numerous shops and restaurants situated in Rodney Bay are about a 10 minute drive away.

The...Read more

Beautiful Spot

Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in February 2006

My husband and I along with another couple stayed at the Tamarind this past February. We have stayed at villas before but this was our first visit to St. Lucia. After a long flight and a long ride from the airport, we arrived at Tamarind. The villa is located on top of a montain. The pool and surrounding scenery was beautiful. dogs.

Beautiful villa with an amazing staff. Perfect vacation!

Left on 02/17/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We had an amazing stay at the Tamarind Villa. Everything was perfect -- the villa as gorgeous, the views amazing, and the staff delightful. I can't say enough good things about our stay here.

We were traveling with a group of friends for another friend's wedding on the island. There were 7 adults and 1 child (2 years old). We stayed at the villa for a week in February.

The villa itself is beautiful. It was perfect for our group with it's spacious layout and plenty of areas to sit, relax, and hangout. There's a large wrap-around porch in the back with a dining area, sitting area with seating for 7, plus a number of rocking chairs on either end. The pool area has a number of chaise loungers with tables as well as another cabana-style area with bench seating. Every area has breath-taking views of St. Lucia. The bedrooms are spread out on the 1st and 2nd floor, each with their own bathroom and spa-like shower. This was ideal for our group -- everyone had plenty of space and privacy but also room to gather as a group.

The staff at the villa was one of the highlights of the trip. They were so nice, extremely helpful, and just a pleasure to be around. We chose to have a number of our meals prepared for us by Melinda. The first day of our trip, we sat down with her to go over menus, dietary restrictions (one of our friends was 7 months pregnant), and shopping lists. During the week, she prepared a variety of items, including:

Breakfast: freshly-squeezed mango juice and tamarind juice (freshly-picked from the trees on the property), pancakes, salted fish, bakes (small, fried dough balls), eggs, bacon, fruit salad

Lunch and Dinner: baked chicken, different varieties of rice, green salad, curried chicken, grilled fish, roast pork, chicken salad, mango salad, potato salad, fried plantains, banana rum punch, as well as desserts like white chocolate cheesecake and key lime pie

The food was amazing, and it was great to taste some of the local foods during our stay. Definitely take advantage of this. The service was included in the price of the villa, but we were responsible for the grocery shopping which worked out perfectly.

The entire staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Margaritte, the manager of the property, helped us organize a boat trip one day for snorkeling and visiting the volcano on the island. She also helped us organize transportation around the island during our stay. Francis took care of the grounds at the villa, and was always willing to lend a hand when needed for things like questions about the property, helping light the grill so we could do a BBQ at night, showing us how to set the alarm, etc. Lydia was the housekeeper on staff that cleaned the rooms each day and keeping the living areas clean as well as helping Melinda out in the kitchen. The staff was always there when you needed them, but wasn't intrusive in the slightest.

My only complaint with the villa was the number of mosquitoes. (Obviously there's not much that the staff can do about this one.) My recommendation to travelers would be to bring bug spray with you, spray down your room each night, and to keep the fans running to keep them away. It would be great in the future if the villa added mosquito nets to the bedrooms upstairs as well. (The downstairs rooms have them, but don't have air conditioning.)

Also, there are two properties on the island called Tamarind Villa. This one is in Cap Estate (north side of the island) vs. the other Tamarind which I believe is in Soufriere. Keep this in mind when you're coming from the airport so you don't end up in the wrong place!

Overall, this was an amazing place to stay. We couldn't have asked for more!

A marvellous location for a relaxing holiday.

Left on 07/01/2012 for a stay in May 2011

We arrived as a large family group (11) with ages ranging from 1 to 63. There was more than enough room for all of us. The rooms were large and airy with all the upstairs bedrooms having air conditioning The house is very well equipped with everything you might need on a summer holiday. It is perched on the side of a hill which meant the views were absolutely stunning with the Carbbean one side and the atlantic the other! I particularly liked the many individual outside areas. There was a long verandah for large groups, the decked area and pool for sunworshippers, and the arbour for more intimate chats or just reading. We were surprised at the versatility of the staff and discovered that the housekeeper was a very good cook and we ate in more often than we expected. The agent arranged a couple of outings just for us - one of which was a memorable day trip on a catamaran down the coast to Soufriere and around the volcano. I would suggest a four wheel drive as your hire car since some of the roads are a bit bumpy.

My favourite villa in St Lucia

Left on 06/17/2012 for a stay in October 2011

We have stayed at a few villas over the years in St Lucia, but Tamarind is now our firm favourite. It's a beautifully decorated relaxed villa built in a colonial style with long wide verandas. The rooms are beautifully decorated with exceptionally comfortable beds. Best of all the villa is that perfect combination of being a sun trap but most importantly having a breeze through too. The pool is great and there are loads of sun beds, sofas and hammocks to sleep in. Best of all is the gazebo which we all had sundowners in each evening. The staff were very friendly and cooked us delicious meals. Just a great villa all round.

Great space with wonderful views

Left on 02/22/2012 for a stay in February 2012

We were offered this villa at the last minute as our original booking had become unavailable - but we were certainly not disappointed!
Fantastic space with a large airy reception room and lots of outside sitting areas ( although not garden areas to play in)
The 4 bedrooms upstairs are fairly new and well appointed including a/c - with 2 good sized master bedrooms sharing a wonderful terrace offering fantastic sunset views. The other 2 upper bedrooms are twins and not quite as spacious and bright but still good quality accommodation. Very good bathrooms with huge walk in showers but only 1 bathtub in the house. Upstairs showers slightly underpowered and all overhead without hand held addition (as in the downstairs bathrooms)
The 3 downstairs bedrooms are all a very generous size although slightly older in style but all with good shower rooms (very powerful) and dressing rooms
Lots of sun loungers and a lovely gazebo
The staff are super - very helpful without being obtrusive. We only ate in for breakfast so didn't have the opportunity to sample the cook's skills to the full but the visitors book contained glowing references
Be aware that the style is less formal than in other Caribbean islands where the food is served by a butler - this is self service once it's on the table but that was fine!
Generally we ate out in Rodney Bay and can recommend The Edge, Buzz and Spinnakers ( a beach bar)
Overall a great location for a holiday in a beautiful villa with views over both coasts - and we'd love to go back - although perhaps not so good if you have young children who need lots of garden in which to run around
