Situated just minutes away from the cosmopolitan town of Lucca, this luxurious Tuscany country accommodation offers both the respite of the countryside and accessibility to shopping and culture. Anyone with an appreciation for architecture will enjoy the stunning design of this vacation rental in Tuscany, and the way that the original lines of the historic farmhouse and mill have been carefully preserved and enhanced with modern amenities. While the classic Italian gardens and swimming pool may provide diversion enough on a warm day, Lucca [10 minutes] and Pisa [20 minutes] both offer a wealth of museums and restaurants, should you have the d...esire to explore. For longer day trips, the stunning Ligurian coastal jewels of the Cinque Terre [112 km] and chic Portofino [142 km] are within reach by car from this Tuscany vacation villa in the countryside.

[7000 m2] This luxury villa in Tuscany was originally a working mill and farmhouse. Both structures have been beautifully restored and transformed into a luxury accommodation, featuring simple lines and traditional materials such as stone, handmade brick, rough hewn beams, and terracotta. The villa, which is part of a three-home complex, is surrounded by typical Italian gardens filled with potted lemons, olive trees, pines, camellias, wisteria, roses, lavender, and rosemary. A small brook runs through the garden. The private swimming pool has an area for children and an area for advanced swimmers. An ornamental gazebo equipped with a dining table is located next to the pool. There is also a barbecue, as well as comfortable deck chairs and lounge chairs.

Villa [400 m2]: The two-story Italian villa is furnished in a rustic, elegant style, featuring period furniture and objects d'art.

* Ground Floor: There is a dining room, a family room with a TV, an office, a kitchen, and a laundry room.

* 1st Floor: There are three double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms [all three with tub and hand-held shower head]. There is one room with two twin beds and an en suite bathroom [with hand-held shower head]. There is also a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom [with tub and hand-held shower head]. All of the villa's rooms include climate controls.

Cottage [40 m2, one floor]: The ancient rooms of the old mill have been transformed into spacious rooms for everyday living. There is one double bedroom and one bedroom with a French double bed. Both bedrooms have air conditioning. There is one shared bathroom [with tub and hand-held shower head].

This Tuscan villa is located near Lucca in the Vorno Valley. The nearest shops are in Vorno and Badia di Cantignano, both a three-minute drive away. There is a bus stop 100 meters from the property. There is parking available on the grounds for five cars.

Available amenities: Private swimming pool [16m x 8m, open May 1st through October 1st], air conditioning, central heating, oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, computer with Internet access, telephone/fax machine with computerized billing, stereo/CD player, satellite TV [English channels], alarm, barbecue, mountain bikes, baby bed [please request in advance], daily breakfast service, daily maid service [8 hrs/day, 6 days/week], manager, gardener, fresh pool towels, bed linens changed weekly, bath linens changed twice weekly.

Extra Services: Cook service is available on request. A food and beverage deposit of $1,700 will be required and the cost of meals will be deducted this deposit. The deposit for food and beverages is separate from the Security Deposit. Particular dishes and wines may be requested. Other extra services are airport transfers, grocery shopping prior to arrival, telephone/fax/internet usage, and laundry. Gratuities are not included.

Nearby attractions: Just a short drive away, holiday guests will find tennis [10 minutes], horseback riding [15 minutes], and golf [30 minutes]. A drive to the Garfagnana Valley takes about 35 minutes, a drive to Puccini Lake takes about 20 minutes, and the towns of Vorno, Badia di Cantignano, and Coselli are a short walk away [approx. 15 minutes].

  The property was wonderful and the staff was exceptional...always trying to please....and they did. The stay was so good I've already recommended it to my friends.
  
  The overall spaciousness of the property...with 12 adults we had plenty of room both inside and out...the pool and view were tremendous and the central location to so many day trip destinations was perfect.
  
  One night the sink plumbing came apart and we had a mini-flood .......a few towels, a bucket and a little handyman work, and we were back in business. The plumber was there the next day and all was well. It is really hard to find anything not wonderful about the property, so this nit will have to do.
  
  The central location to many exciting day trips was perfect.......and the immediate neighborhood had great little walks, the church from 955 AD was beautiful, the restaurants nearby were fabulous.....it was all good.

  It was very attractive. We had fun just being together.
  
  The pool area and that view to the mountains from the back of the property.
  
  That I was never told that it was part of a three home complex right off the main road.
  
  It was easy to get to Lucca and the surrounding sites of interest.

  The beautiful view, beautiful landscaping, secluded, and spacious villa. Stefania, the house manager, was wonderful. We also met Samulele and family who were very gracious. In addition, the chef was excellent, as was the driver, Andre, who took us to Chianti for the day.
  
  Not enough lounge chairs by the pool and needs comfortable seating outdoors. Towels were a problem given one bath towel each for the first five days before wash was done and one beach towel per person for the week.
  
  We loved the quaint town of Vorno as well as close proximity to Lucca and the autostrada for easy access to other areas of Tuscany.

  A wonderful spot would looove to go back.
  
  For a large family, the amount of privacy each family had. Plus the entertaining rooms were large and roomy. Also, loved Stefania, the manager of the property. She was most helpful.
  
  The separate cottage was dark and a little musty, plus the shower got everything wet.
  
  Being close to Lucca and the freeway made it so handy to get to a lot of different areas. The countryside around there is very lush and hard to believe that one is so close to a big city.

  Our maid who fixed breakfast every day was wonderful, as was the cook we hired for the three dinners.
  
  Lucca is a lovely town and there were many interesting side trips.
