London, England, United KingdomReally Great Location for a "Get Away" holiday
Left on 11/14/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Palm Island Resort has an "Old World" kind of charm.
The position on the island is very good and the beaches , dunes and intercostal waterways some of the best we have visited . We first visited around 20 years ago with young kids , that was a good experience , now on our own also a good experience . All round pretty good.... Its definitely on "Island Time" and don't expect "fine dining" but that can be charming in its own way. -

Was told that Resort was a good place to stay. Boy was that incorrect... This was a GREAT place to stay. We spent 3 nights here and each one was better than the previous one. Did a lot of relaxing, walking the beach, swimming in water, and tooling aroung Island on our rented golf cart. This was just what we needed... a nice relaxing trip. Will be back again for sure. Thank you Palm Island for a great time and look forward to our next visit.

First, let me begin with saying that we had a fantastic time and will definitely return. Just a few things...The staff, although friendly, didn't seem to explain things well as far as what time the water taxi stopped running, where to bring cart at checkout, etc. We did have an issue with Addis on the ferry that takes the cars over to the island from the mainland, and our Seafood dinner that came with our package was horrible! We ended up throwing it away. The lobster was probably the only edible item in the basket, and just barely so. It seemed like the seafood had been sitting in the refridgerator for 3 days. Was rubbery and tasted funny. The wine was also horrible and we ended up throwing that away as well. Besides those few items, everything was perfect!

Lutz, FL, United StatesOur stay on Palm Island
Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We've been to PI tons over the last 14 yrs. and loved all of the past trips. This one was a little off for a couple of reasons. First, I thought we were getting an upgraded room and it wasn't. The pullout bed/couch was dingy and not much of a bed at all. In the middle of the night our daughter woke up screaming b/c a large cockroach ran across her arm and then back into the bed, so neither girl would sleep on the pullout the rest of the trip. Our bed was already uncomfortable to begin with, let alone with 2 extra bodies.
Last, the only way we were able to come on this trip was that a family member sent us the money for the Living Social deal. Money has been too tight the last 2 yrs and we haven't vacationed at all. we planned on eating in our room and when the power went out on Sunday night it forced us to go to Leverocks. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but on our budget it is!! My husband is in the process of getting a new job which would allow us to vacation on Palm Island like we use to, but until then we need to conserve. Having said all of this, I do want to complement one of your employees. Travis was very friendly and even though he couldn't get us in an upgraded room, he still went out of his way to make me happy!! I was very impressed. He was a wonderful as Cathy (an old employee) always was!! Thank you, Annie Thacker from Sarasota, FL. -

My husband and I stayed for 7 days on the Island. We originally book our stay on the Marina and spent 1 night there. The following morning we realized we wanted to be closer to the ocean and when we call the reservation office they were very accomodating and allowed us to change our arrangements and that was the best decision we made. We enjoyed the peaceful and secluded location. The view from our beach villa was awesome. The staff was excellent.

The resort was so peaceful. I walked on the beach several times without another soul, as far as I could see. I felt very safe everywhere on the island. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food at Rum Bay was quite good - and the pricing was reasonable - they do not take advantage of the fact that they do have the monolopy :-). They still endeavor to give great service! The only things that bugged me a little were that in the resort directory left for us in the unit, the phone numbers for all of the departments were listed without area code.
I had to dig around to find something that listed the area code before I could call for what I needed. Also, the bigger issue is that there does not seem to be great insulation between units. Our neighbors were not rowdy, but ordinary noises traveled too much, and woke me both mornings. We could hear a lot -- the TV, voices, doors closing, etc. I wanted to sleep in, so I was disappointed when the neighbor's churning washing machine woke me at 8 am. But overall, the trip was wonderful! -

WE ALWAYS VACATION THE 2ND WEEK IN DECEMBER, THE RATES ARE LOW AND MOST RESORTS ARE NOT VERY CROWDED. I READ ABOUT PALM ISLAND AND DECIDED TO GIVE IT A TRY. THE BEACHES ARE BEAUTIFUL ALTHOUGH KIND OF A LONG HIKE FROM THE ROOM. THE VIEWS ARE BEAUTIFUL. THE STAFF VERY FRIENDLY. IF YOU WANT A QUIET, RELAXING TRIP THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR TO GO. WE WERE ALMOST ALWAYS THE ONLY ONES ON THE BEACH. I DO RECOMMEND RENTING THE GOLF CART TO GET AROUND THE ISLAND. YOU ARE ONLY GIVEN ONE ROUND TRIP ON THE FERRY WITH YOUR BOOKING AND THE CHARGE IS NORMALLY OVER $50, I ASK FOR EXTRA TRIPS AND THEY GAVE ME, SO BE SURE TO ASK. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THE WATER TAXI RIDE TO LEVEROCKS, THE FOOD IS NOT GOOD. THE FOOD, SERVICE AND DRINKS AT RUM BAY ON THE ISLAND IS THE WAY TO GO. STOP AT THE GROCERY BEFORE GOING TO THE ISLAND. IF YOU NEED TO ACCESS INTERNET, TAKE YOUR OWN COMPUTER-THERE IS NOT ONE AVAILABLE ALTHOUGH THEY WILL PRINT BOARDING PASSES FOR YOU. I HAD ASK FOR A LOWER LEVEL ROOM SO THAT IS WHY WE WERE ON THE TOP FLOOR. THE KITCHEN WAS WELL EQUIPED FOR ANYTHING WE MIGHT NEED TO COOK, TAKE YOUR OWN COFFEE. I WAS VERY HAPPY AND WOULD GO THERE AGAIN.

Venice, FLHow poor customer service can ruin a vacation experience
Left on 11/21/2011 for a stay in November 2011
The people need more training! 1st you charge my credit card and then when I call them on it, (the vacation was prepaid) they deny it! I had to emphatically state over and over that Yes, they did excessively charge my credit card, they finally corrected the problem, but never apologized for it, much less gave us, something to compensate for the angst of us having to look up all that info on the credit card, to get the excessive charges removed, that's how it started.....then, the front desk people and the bell staff tells us one thing about the golf cart use and then Dustin tells us entirely another story, so know, which office do I believe? The front office or Dustin? We believed Dustin, but were unsure and that is unsettling, and the $300. waiver we had to sign for the golf cart, should have been mentioned before Dustin makes us sign it......this is a beautiful place, but it is marred by inconsistanties by their staff, who aren't customer friendly, or adequately trained. It's not professionally handled and too stressful an experience, for a wonderful stay on the water. It was very frustrating for the uninitiated to your beautiful resort.

The property is beautiful and very well maintained. The restaurant food and service were excellent. This is a wonderful place to stay if you just need some down time. Definitely rent a golf cart or bicycle to get to the point for shelling, as it is a long walk.

My husband and I went to the resort for an anniversary getaway. We did the couples getaway package. It was wonderful. The villa we stayed in was tastefully decorated and spotless. we had a bike rental for the two days we were there and that was a great idea. We could bike all over the island and get exercise while exploring. The picnic that was provided as part of the package was a great addition to the trip. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We took long walks on the beach and found incredible shells and a lot of sharks teeth. I would highly recommend visiting Palm Island to anyone looking for a nice and relaxing vacation.

I would recommend this vacation resort to anyone wanting a clean, friendly, calming environment to relax and get away from the pressures of your lives! Take your spouse, or get a bunch of friends to meet here and enjoy each others company. You will not be disappointed - and you also will not want to leave! Make sure to grocery shop before you come so you won't have to leave the islnnd! Awesome!
