      not what I expected

Left on 11/22/2012 for a stay in November 2012

Palm Island is a beautiful place, lovely private beaches and spectacular views - too bad our rental felt like a cheap hotel. Paper-thin walls (you could hear the person in the next unit cough), shabby furniture, cheap fake plants, kitchen cabinets that did not close, closet doors that were falling off their tracks, kitchen utensils that looked like they were yard sale rejects, itchy polyester sheets and a tiny tv. totally not worth the rental fee.

      Excellent get away!

Left on 10/31/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We have been going to Palm Island for 13 years, every trip has been wonderful! It is the best place to get away from everything and relax and recharge. We love the quiet beaches, sharks teeth and sand dollars we find...golf carts are fun, the Rum Bay resturant has good food and friendly bar.

Two days was way too short of a vacation to spend in this beautiful paradise. The condo was awesome and the whole resort was well managed to create a wonderful weekend.

      Excellent!!!

Left on 07/23/2012 for a stay in July 2012

I purchase the rental package from Living Social and I was a bit skeptical. I was even more worry when I arrived and did not find the location. When we called the office the employees were very friendly and eager to help us. I wish we could of stayed longer, but work did not permit the desire. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

      Great Private Getaway

Left on 01/24/2012 for a stay in January 2012

The beaches are terrific. Growing up on the Pinellas County beaches, I'm used to the beautiful white-sand beaches that the Gulf provides. However, there are always large crowds of people on those public beaches. On Palm Island we were able to enjoy a much more private setting. More pristine and less commercial. It's a perfect place for the beach lover to unwind. It is also somewhat limited on things to do. Other than tennis and the beach, there isn't much else to do on the island. The kids enjoyed playing on the beach for a couple of days. I think they would have started to lose interest if we'd stayed much longer. Without the kids, my wife and I could have stayed for a few more days.

The only disappointment was a delay in checking in. We waited over an hour for our accommodations to be ready for occupancy. Waiting outside in the heat was difficult.

      What a GREAT experience.....

Left on 06/18/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Kyle, Frank, Diane and "Big Bird" (the server in the restaurant) were awesome! Overall the proerty is well well maintained, staff is great and it was everything we expected! We collected sharks teeth, saw the manatees, collected shells and made lots of memories,
We're definitely going to book another vacation to Palm Island.

Kenneth M.'s review of Beach Villa Two Bedroom

Left on 12/02/2010 for a stay in November 2010

I have been vacationing at palm island for 20 years. The condition of my last unit was sub-par. The beds were like sleeping in ironing boards. There was not enough utensils and dinnerware. The toaster did not work. It was obvious the unit was not well maintained by the owner. That said, I would return to palm island with the proviso that the unit amenities were upgraded.

We loved our 2 bedroom condo. The bathrooms were updated, there were plenty of towels, and all was neat and very clean. We've stayed on the island many times and this was our best experience! We were there for the Y's Tropical Nights fundraiser.

your mattresses need updating. the springs in unite 3522 are so old that we could feel them all. for the price you charge you should have good Mattresses, then this will be the perfect getaway vacation.

25 years of vacations at Palm Island

Left on 03/14/2008 for a stay in July 2007

Our family of 4 began visiting the resort the first summer it opened in 1984 when our boys were 7 and 10. 25 years (and annual vacations) later, it's still their favorite vacation spot; and we've been many places in the world. Now they bring their spouses and children because they want their families to love the resort as much as they do. Their plan is definitely working. We love the freedom of "the island" and the convenience of the grills, pools and tennis courts. We hate to go "off island" and do so only to visit the nearby Publix. We felt very comfortable letting our boys roam alone when they were young and the resort was smaller; although there has been a lot of development since 1984, the environment still seems safe. We usually request--and have been able to occupy--the same unit each summer, and that makes the whole experience "a home away from home." Last summer, the bed in the master bedroom had an uncomfortable mattress (sagging in the middle) which made sleeping soundly difficult; but this inconvenience did not color the enjoyment of the visit. We plan to continue these vacations at Palm Island, although our increasing number of grandchildren will force us to reserve larger--and less familiar--accommodations!
