    Additional Location Information

Breakers Cape May is one of Cape May’s most distinctive properties located in the historic district [arguably on one of Cape May’s main avenues -- Ocean Street]. Its unique design is French Second Empire architecture with large porches, classic mansard roofing and a widow’s walk. This classic Victorian home has undergone restoration in 2005. Enjoy the ocean views and the half-block walk to Cape May beaches.

      Excellent experience.

Left on 04/22/2013 for a stay in April 2013

The Breakers is a lovely home, in the perfect location of an exquisite town. Cape May has so many diverse activities in addition to the sandy beach, and they are easily accessed from this address. The home itself is a beautiful victorian, furnished and decorated from that period. It is stocked with everything that you can imagine and is the perfect place for celebrations among family and friends. There were 8 women celbrating yet another "decade birthday year," and we each had our own rooms and bathrooms, and plenty of space for fun as a group, conversations of two or three, or our own private time. Because so many activities and restaurants are nearby, we could easily go in different directions for some things and returnn to the house throughout the day to regroup and plan. Whether circled around the large dining room table or in rocking chairs on the front porch, we were surrounded by a warm and friendly atmosphere, yet still luxurious and special. We plan to return every year - at least each spring and possibly the fall as well. we've found the perfect spot!

      More space the merrier!

Left on 03/21/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We stayed at the beautiful Breakers for a friend's wedding in March. It was the perfect place to stay. There were 14 of us (6 couples and 2 singles) and we all got our own room with our own bathroom. The house was spotless when we arrived, fully stocked with whatever you could need. It was beautifully decorated in the traditional Victorian style (no detail went unnoticed when decorating and updating the Breakers) yet it was homey and comfortable. The Breakers was a short walk to Congress Hall (where the wedding was held) and a very close walk to Washington ave for those of us who wanted to shop! It was a great weekend-we even could enjoy the top deck even though it snowed the day before... the weather cooperated for 24 hours! Thank you for letting us use your home. We had a blast.

Wonderful Time in a Beautiful Home

Left on 01/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012

We visited The Breakers for New Year's. Our party ranged in age from 75 to 3 and everyone had a great time. The house is a beautiful Victorian and it was decorated for Christmas, which was a very nice surprise.

The location of this house could not be more perfect. It is close to the beach and the center of town. The mall is within walking distance, making getting around very convenient.

We loved our time at the Breakers and we are already talking about going back next year.

      Wonderful Home!

Left on 11/27/2012 for a stay in November 2012

Our family gathered for our dad/grandpa's 70th birthday and The Breakers was the perfect place to celebrate this milestone! The home is perfectly located within walking distance to the beach and the town center. Even though we were there in the off-season there was still plenty to do: take photos on the beach, historic carriage rides, shopping or lunch, or just walking through town to check out all of the beautiful Victorian homes decked out for the holidays. The Breakers itself is charming in all of its Victorian glory yet remains very livable and comfortable. We had a large group with children ranging in ages from 1-14 years old and we all had room to play games, read, cook, or just hang out together. The 2 parlors allowed for the kids to watch a movie in one while the guys checked out the football game in another. We also did alot of cooking during our stay and the two kitchens did not disappoint! Both were well-equipped and easy to work in. All of the bedrooms were spacious, private and very comfortable, each with their own bathroom. When you have 6 families under one roof, this is key!

All in all, our time at The Breakers was a truly wonderful experience; we will cherish the memory of our dad/grandpa's 70th birthday celebration forever.

      Beautiful, peaceful, amazing location!

Left on 10/31/2012 for a stay in May 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Breakers. It's a stunning home, inside and out. Beautiful decor, up-to-date kitchens (yes, two), more than enough bathrooms, front and back porches, and a sun deck on the top floor. The neighborhood is just as beautiful, and everything is within walking distance - beach, shops, restaurants, everything. My favorite thing to do was sit on the front porch and watch people come and go on carriage rides, family walks, and bike rides. I would go there again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to any family or group looking for a spacious rental in an ideal location.

      A great place to relax

Left on 10/25/2012 for a stay in October 2012

It was our family's first time to Cape May and our first home rental experience. We needed a break from the hustle and bustle and the Breakers provided that experience. The vastness of the house gave us space to spread out and relax. We walked the boardwalk, walked around town, and baked dozens of cookies. The location within town was perfect! We were in the middle of it all but somehow "our" house and street felt private. The historic house was a great place to remind us of simpler days.

      Birthday Party

Left on 10/25/2012 for a stay in May 2012

My six siblings and our spouses (14) spent a long weekend at the Breakers in Cape May. It had been a while since we had all been together so we decided to get a place for what would have been our father's 100th Birthday. The house was perfect and worked so well for so many people. Each couple had their own room and bath. The dinning room was large enough for everyone to sit at the table for the birthday dinner. We were close to town and the beach. Barbara was great to work with. The Breakers is top on our list for a great large group get together spot.

      Charming large home but...

Left on 09/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My parents, brothers, sister, in-laws, and nieces and nephews stayed at the Breakers in august 2012 and, overall, our stay was very special. The location of the house is perfect (in walking distance to the beach and Washington Street Mall) and its size, with its two kitchens and many bedrooms and bathrooms, is great for a large extended family like ours. Unfortunately, the house was not clean. Upon our arrival we found bugs in the beds and kitchen cabinets. There were stains on the mattress pads, which we had to wash ourselves. The house was very dusty and not well vacumed. Coffee was left in the coffee maker and carafe.

It seems that management wants to rely on the tenants to clean rather than the cleaning people they pay. And while we left the house in better condition that we received it, Management tried to accuse us of not cleaning it well, likely to try to keep our security deposit. I would recommend visiting the house before you book; hopefully this review will enstill some change and ensure that management better oversees the housekeepers.

Every service provider's number, including those of the property manager, professional cleaners and real estate company, is clearly noted in the house book. In addition, the lease includes the real estate company's contact information. Any and all comments are welcomed, encouraged and expected upon entry if inappropriate conditions are found so immediate action can be taken to rectify the situation and provide for the vacation anticipated. In addition, the house is inspected prior to all incoming tenants following the professional cleaning by a supervisor. Furthermore, a local linen service changes all mattress pads between tenants. It is highly unfortunate that the issues described were only brought to the management's attention once an attempt was made to hold the security deposit given the deplorable condition of the house found by the property manager and professional cleaning service upon the tenants' departure at week's end. The lease clearly spells out the expectation that the house be left neat, clean and in good repair in order for full return of the security deposit. It is certainly an option for tenants to secure independent cleaning services to meet this expectation. Despite the owner's satisfaction upon investigation that the house was initially delivered in excellent condition but returned in a much less than satisfactory condition, the security was returned in full, giving the tenants the benefit of the doubt, personally absorbing the cost of an expansive cleaning as well as professional steam cleaning in order to return the house to its original excellent condition.
