Cape Meares is a unique and unspoiled Oregon beach opportunity ideal for those beachcombers tired of the crowds and hassle of Seaside and Cannon Beach. Considered the best bird watching beach on the coast, its location is ideal. Cape Meares is the closest one can stay for access to Tillamook Bay and fantastic salmon fishing. There is a freshwater lake stocked with trout i...n walking distance, and it is only a short drive to Tillamook and all its amenities.

The top floor has a huge great room with vaulted ceilings, large picture windows overlooking the ocean, comfortable sectional with a pillow-top queen sleeper sofa, ceiling fan, and great lighting. The well-equipped kitchen has lots of cabinets, a side-by-side refrigerator with filtered in door ice/water, ceramic cooktop, dishwasher, etc. The den sports a queen pillow-top sleeper sofa, wall mount 16:9 LCD cable TV with DVD player, stereo with CD changer and iPod connection, and wireless internet. There is a full bath with shower.

The lower floor has a huge master bedroom with a queen bed and 27 inch cable TV. The second bedroom has two twin beds and a twin doubler connection system to easily convert to a king-size bed. There is a TV in the second bedroom. Downstairs also has a full bath and laundry room.Read more

Cape Meares is located eight miles west of the town of Tillamook, at the north end of the 20-mile “Three Capes Scenic Loop.” Located at the tip of a headland, 200 feet above the ocean, is the Cape Meares State Park Scenic Viewpoint, which is a day use area for visitors. The Cape includes four miles of hiking trails, interpretive panels, picturesque vistas and picnic areas and a historic lighthouse built in the 1890s. Another attraction in the park is the huge Sitka spruce known as the Octopus Tree, which has a diameter of more than ten feet at the base. Cape Meares State Park also encompasses Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge was established in 1938 to protect one of the last of the coastal old growth forests. The State Park is open daily throughout the year and is an excellent spot in the spring and winter for whale watching. Admittance to the lighthouse is free and it houses an Interpretive Gift Shop in what was the workroom of the lighthouse. The other two Capes on the Three Capes Scenic Loop are Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda. The area is very popular among birdwatchers. Cape Meares provides an excellent view of the largest colony of nesting Common Murres, and it has one of the most populous colonies of sea birds on the continent.

The house is located on a dead end street only a few feet from the start of the High Tide Loop hike, a fun hike that ends at the picturesque Cape Meares Lighthouse and the famous Sitka Spruce “Octopus Tree”. Biking, Beach-combing, Fishing, Kite flying, and quiet relaxation are all available in Cape Meares. Oceanside is only a couple miles south and has excellent dining. Netarts Bay offers clam digging, canoeing, kayaking, and boat rentals. 8 miles away is Tillamook which offers shopping, air and pioneer museums, bi-plane rides, movie rentals, and most amenities.
