Description from the owner
56 Kloof Nek Road is a two-bed roomed, semi-detached Victorian cottage, situated in Tamboerskloof, a suburb within the inner City of Cape Town.
The area is considered to be one of Cape Town's finest and is much sought after, as it is situated within easy walking distance of the City Centre, and is half-way between the City and the majestic Table Mountain on the one side, and Lions Head and Signal Hill on the other. Much of the area is rich in Victorian-styled houses and traditional architecture of the late 19th century. Tamboerskloof is considered to be a safe area, with excellent community safety services.

San FranciscoA Wonderful stay in Cape Town
Left on 01/24/2010 for a stay in December 2009
What a welcome surprise. After a 29 hour trip getting to Cape Town from San Francisco, the owner was there to greet me at midnight.
The cottage is secure, private and much larger than I expected. And the location is ideal for seeing everything in Cape Town. It has a nice kitchen and laundry facilities. There's a quaint garden area in the front with a view of Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. And a lovely enclosed patio area in the back with a view of Lion's Head. The back patio area is great for sunning, bbqing, and taking a shower under the grapevine. The cottage is serviced twice a week by a wonderful lady.
I loved the place and hoping to return as soon as possible. Wonderful!

Essex, UKComfortable house with a period feel
Left on 12/18/2009 for a stay in November 2009
The two of us arrived early but were able to move straight in and were greeted and given a quick run down of the area. House has a very Victorian feel to it, with exposed floorboarding and high ceilings. Bedrooms were both a good size and the double bed was very comfortable.
The kitchen had good cooking and clothes washing facilities. A small back yard area with table and chairs is a nice feature.
The location is close to Kloof Nek so very convenient to get to the Cable Way or Camps Bay. In the other direction it is just a straight run down to the Waterfront. Close by is the top end of Kloof St with restaurants, bars and cafes etc.
The little shop on the opposite side of the road stocked most of our day to day requirements.
Pros:- Plenty of space, all the amenities we needed, an outside area to sit when the evenings were warm, nice period feel to the house. Good value for what we got.
Cons:-
Period can also mean quirky, the bedrooms are situated at one end of the house, the bathroom at the other, with a lock on the outside of the bathroom door???; Kloof Nek Road is very busy and very noisy from 6-7am onwards; Parking is on the road and makes for an interesting challenge to pull out into the traffic; It would have been useful to have had a dossier available of local shops, restaurants, sights etc, also there was no guest book.

UKExcellent find in Cape Town
Left on 12/18/2009 for a stay in November 2009
This is a quiet, very comfortable house, well situated for easy access to central cape Town, without being in town. We had a lovely warm reception, felt at ease. When a small problem arose, it was immediately dealt with, at no inconvenience at all to ourselves. We stongly recommend this as a venue. We hope we shall enjoy another stay in the cottage, thank you Dirk.

canadaCute cottage half way between the ocean and the mountain
Left on 07/30/2009 for a stay in June 2009
We rented this cottage while attending a conference in Cape Town in June
2009. It was in an excellent location, an easy walk to Long Street, as well it
was a (more difficult, uphill) walk to Table Mountain.
The cottage is furnished nicely, with a washer/dryer, oven, and dishwasher.
There is a cute little courtyard outside and plenty of space in the cottage (there
were four of us, three adults and a baby renting).
We greatly enjoyed our stay and were happy that we rented here. -
