Perfect contrast having spent a few days in New York City, allowed us to really unwind and relax in a home from home. Cannot overstate the importance of Mark and Wendy living on the island, they were never intrusive but always helpful and a slight internet glitch was fixed within 10 minutes. Would not hesitate to recommend this property.

Every year we go to Disneyworld. This year we decided to try something new, and it did not disappoint. The home was perfectly beautitul, clean, large, and walking distance to the beach.
The swimming pool is very large and easily accomodated the 7 of us.
Mark and Wendy, the owners, checked on us daily to make sure we were doing okay.
Every appliance was high end, we had crockpot, blenders, coffee press, Keurig, etc. We slept on a wonderful temperpedic mattress with Ralph Lauren pillows.
The views from the home are so beautiful. Large windows in every room and beside the 2 person jacuzzi tub. The shower in the master bedroom had 2 heads and could easily fit 3-4 people inside. :-)
The internet wifi was fast and it was easy to stay connected. There was a landline phone and fax machine available and we had great cell service (ATT.) The pictures shown on tripadvisor are accurate.
My daughter left her ipod at the home, and Wendy put it in the mail for us as quickly as she found it. Mark is very knowledgeable about the island and seemed to be a really great and caring guy.
When we arrived, Mark and Wendy met us at the home with fresh, warm cookies. Upon departure we were given a tote bag, coffee mug, and shirts with North Captiva logo.
We received our deposit back within 24 hours of returning home.
I would not hesitate to book this vacation again. The entire family said they preferred this trip to Disneyworld, and I have to agree. -

We stayed as guests of Mark and Wendy Muller in July 2012. Their home, the Windswept was exactly as advertised -- beautiful and perfect! The open design of the home made for a spectacular stay for the eight of us. Mark and Wendy live on the island and make themselves available upon arrival, adding a lovely personal touch. Having a background in commercial high rise property management, I can tell you that these folks and their home are nothing short of top notch. From designer bedding to appliances and cookware, there isn't anything that they didn't think of. We were so impressed with our stay at this gorgeous property. Thanks again, Mark & Wendy, for making our summer family vacation so very memorable. We have been telling everyone about it and hope to be back soon!

We just got home from a one week stay at Windswept- our best vacation ever!! We had 8 adults with us and three kiddos, ages ranging from 1-70's. The house and island had it all!! It was so easy so if the idea of traveling to an island and coordinating a ferry, etc. with kids seems daunting just go for it. Mark and Wendy made everything so easy and it is well worth the effort! The house could not be better equipped with an indoor play area for kiddos, dvds, children books, family games, xbox, putting green, outdoor mini kids slide, jogging strollers, high chairs, pack and plays. The island is so cute and has several restaurants, two additional pools, kayaks and bikes that are included with your rental. The beaches are pristine with amazing sea shells. To top it all off- Wendy and Mark helped me make this a surprise for my mother and it went off without a hitch. Wonderful, wonderful! I can't say enough great things!!

29196Our Families best Thanksgiving vacation !!

We had the best Thanksgiving ever on North Captiva Island. Windswept was everything we could have hoped for. Wendy was waiting for us at the dock when we arrived . She had her handyman help us unload our suitcases at the house and brought us cookies. The house was well equipped and had all high end appliances in the kitchen and high end furniture in the rest of the house. Everything was well maintained and the furniture and the bedding was super comfortable. The weather was perfect that week, low 80's and hardly any rain. When we had a question about something in the house , Wendy answered her phone right away. She brought us more propane when we ran out in the outdoor grill. We quickly realized that having them on the island meant they would attend to all our needs. Mark and Wendy stopped by on Thanksgiving with homemade chocolates and we relaxed and chatted by the pool together for about an hour. We really enjoyed their company and talking about the island and its history. We are a family of five with 3 twenty something adult children. They loved the house, the huge TV in the living room (my son enjoyed this the best), the comfy bedding, couch, outdoor furniture and the privacy of the home. We played tennis at the club and took turns swimming at the club pool and our own private heated pool and going to the beach. We all enjoyed riding the golf carts all over the island . We accidentally left an empty suitcase at the house when we left, and Wendy was kind enough to mail it back to us at no charge !!! You will not be disappointed at Windswept !!

this was one of the best vacations we have ever had. our children are grown and we chose to have a family vacation at Windswept. from the moment that Wendy picked us up at the ferry our lives switched from rushed and busy to total relaxation in paradise! Seriously, the home is beautiful, comfortable and really fun. it is so unique and we had a blast discovering all the beautiful things Wendy and Mark have furnished the home with. here are some of our favorite things: Gourmet kitchen, grand piano, golf carts to get around the island, walking distance to the beach, heated pool, comfy beds and furniture, beautiful views from all the windows, fun tower, direct tv, and sooo much more. Wendy and Mark are gracious and friendly hosts. perfect place for a family getaway.

This was absolutely the best family vaction! My son, his wife and kids flew from New York. Me, my husband and youngest son flew from Wisconsin. The house was just beautiful. When we arrived at the house, Wendy had homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting for us. The next morning we went to the top of the look out tower, which is attached to the house and got to watch dolphins jumping. All I can say is you will not be disappointed. The house is well equipped with everything you could image.

Our family, for "Papa's" 60th birthday, stayed at the Windswept home on North Captiva Island . This beautiful home is located right near a State owned nature preserve. It is a one of a kind "round" 5 bedroom 2 bath home with its own swimming pool & put-put golf. Owner's Mark,Wendy & Miranda made us feel like family. Their home attended to our every need and more! We spent every morning enjoying the pool,golf,or numerous family games provided at the home. After lunch,we all had fun exploring the "tropical island" ; taking nature walks through the state preserve to the unihabited beaches, collecting sea shells, making friends with turtles, fishing off Barnacle Phil's landing, watching the dolphins swim close to the shores, or just exploring the island's paradise and all it has to offer on golf carts. At night we could relax on 1 of 3 decks to watch the beautiful sunsets or later watch many a family movie or spend quiet time reading a vast variety of adult/children's books provided. Our whole family including 4 children ,ages 6-13, & an aupair from Sweden, & 5 adults can't wait till the next time we can come back, maybe for my 60th!!

Windswept is a truly gorgeous home, and it is a home. There is nothing that you could want that Mark and Wendy haven't already thought of, from home gadgets to beautiful bed linens, to sun screen! The warm home baked cookies to welcome you on arrival sets the tone for your holiday. The house is packed with high spec fittings which Mark and Wendy explain how to use when you arrive, but the house is also designed in such a way that it encourages people to sit around and chat. The children loved the "Crab Shack", with the x-box and all the other things to play with. The beach was a 5 minute walk away, the very beach that our son had a very beautiful and romantic wedding on. The people on the island are so friendly, every time we went for a walk some kind person would pull up in their golf cart and offer a ride! The week we spent at Windswept was the perfect wind down from the week we spent in Orlando, and the position of the house at the very edge of the nature preserve meant that the children got to see all kinds of wildlife just from the verandah! Thank you Mark and Wendy for a holiday that none of us will forget.

We had an amazing week at this beautiful rental. With 9 of us traveling together, ranging in age from 10 - 60, we were hoping our stay at this unique and quiet location would satisfy a variety of interests. It didn’t disappoint. We rated this as our best family vacation. The kids loved exploring the island, and we all enjoyed the many new adventures North Captiva Island holds (wildlife, early morning seashell hunts, deep sea fishing etc). The weather was beautiful, with only one day of rain but we hardly noticed. Owners Wendy and Mark (and daughter Miranda) are wonderful people, and highly attentive - they’ve thought of everything! Windswept is fully stocked, catering to your every need. From sunhats, raincoats, assortment of indoor and outdoor entertainment. The mini golf located at the lower level was highly addictive. The pool was refreshing and private. The kitchen is a dream and made cooking on our vacation an enjoyable experience. The beds are heavenly - you can tell Wendy and Mark care about the details; offering only the highest quality and comfort. The only thing we would change is to lengthen our stay. We’re already planning our return visit!

Windswept was absolutley what our family needed, a break from the daily grind of sports, school, work etc. We were able to rest and relax in Mark and Wendy's beautiful home. If you want a nice private get away, North captiva is for you! Hiking, birdwatching, shell collecting, everything was easy access by golf cart...
