Albuquerque, NMGreat Family Vacation
Left on 01/09/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We recently visited Captiva for the first time with my parents and our 2 children (ages 5 and 9). Location of this rental is ideal. Pool is located just outside the porch with a grill and then beach is just beyond that. Kids loved swimming in both the pool and ocean. Relaxing for all of us and a great way to spend time as a family. Rented bikes for the short ride into town and around the town. House was a great set-up. Large, open living and dining room, large master bedroom. The screened in porch was a perfect place to start and end the day. Only negative was that the screens on the porch need replacing - a bit of an issue with all the no-seeums. Owner is very responsive to any issues.

Delighted you enjoyed yourselves, Jennifer! The entire porch screen has been replaced. Sorry it did not come to our attention before you arrived.

The location of this property cannot be beat. Directly on the beach with only a pool between you and the sand, under a mile walk to "town" and restaurants, and within the gated South Seas Resort--you can't ask for more in Captiva. For the main duration of our visit we were the only guests in the little 6 house enclave and had the pool to ourselves. The house could use an update and would be inexpensive (100$ bathroom vanity from Home Depot, anyone?). But it was clean and spacious enough. No one was uncomfortable, but we would book an extended stay for next year if the interior received a little facelift. Since it is a bit 80s in repair and style, I'll hit Vrbo again. Still, great trip and location in a highly acceptable home.

Thanks for your comments. The vanity replacement/"facelift" you mentioned is actually in process. We have been awaiting an opening in our rental calendar.

We had the most wonderful week at this beach house! It was perfect for our needs. With 8 of us, our family of 6 (children ages 4-9) and my Mother and Father, we had plenty of room in this clean, comfortable beach house. The huge screened in porch is a definite plus! We enjoyed almost every breakfast and lunch out on the porch. The pool was large and we had it almost all to ourselves! The beach was gorgeous, with lots of shells and hardly any people! This was one of the quietest and relaxing vacations we have had. The beach house was so nice and it is in such a secluded, quiet area on Captiva Island, away from the busyness of Sanibel Island. But when we wanted to go to Sanibel Island for dinner, it was just a short car ride away! Two of our favorite meals were at the Green Flash on Captiva and Chip's Sanibel Steakhouse. We also took a sea life excursion cruise that we all enjoyed. It was a great hands-on experience for the kids. They got to touch puffer fish and go netting for crabs & sea horses too! Plus, we saw dolphins right off the boat! Of course we saw dolphins right off the beach at the beach house too almost every afternoon! If your looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation for the whole family, this is the place! The owner was wonderful too, very accommodating and responsive to our questions via email while we were there. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Left on 06/14/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We just spent a week at this fantastic property with our family of five (children aged 8-12). We were all very impressed. Of note, the furniture is new and the accommodations were more impressive in person than the pictures show. Most importantly, the owner was very easy to deal with and responsive to our needs.
The sunset was the best way to cap off every day. In addition to the spectacular sunset, the dolphins showed up on our last night to bid us goodbye. The best part of this particular location on Captiva is that there were no crowds at all. It was the ultimate getaway and the least amount of stress I have felt in my adult life.
We will definitely recommend this property to our friends and family. -

Having been to Captiva for several years, this house was a great find - quiet, on the water, sunsets, quiet pool, big screened-in porch - just what we look for - and fairly priced

Edinburgh, UKGreat location, on the beach

We have stayed here now on several occasions, and I guess that is probably the best testimony I could give. The location is very good: on the South Seas resort, but in a small group of private homes, and the beach is only a few steps away from the porch. And you get use of a nice sized pool where we have often found ourselves to be the only users.

A wonderful place to stay. The house was clean and everything was fine. A small problem in the kitchen was fixed in just a short time. The pool is ok, but we stayed most of the time at the beach. Owner is a very nice person, had nice e-mail contact with him.

The location of this beach house on this island makes the stay here so enjoyable. The house is pretty "average" but the location to the pool and beach is excellent. You can hear the waves from your bed. You can walk to Redfish Pass or the Mucky Duck . The island is a favorite of ours and when we are not there, we miss it!

My husband and I rented this vacation home along with another couple, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The beach is easily accessible and beautiful, the grounds were well-maintained, and the complex was quiet. There is a feeling of privacy due to the layout of the buildings, but if you want to socialize with your neighbors that's an option, especially around the pool. The house was just as advertised - nicely appointed rooms, everything in good condition, and plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen was well-equipped. The WiFi worked fine. Even the beach equipment was in decent shape. My only suggestion would be for a little more lighting - we all like to read. Access to the bay is very easy as well - we rented kayaks and were able to put them in just across the road from the house, as the island is quite narrow at that point. Biking is also easy and safe in the area, and access to the resort (you will have to pay for tennis, etc.) is a plus. Ding Darling wildlife refuge is a little further away, but since there were more osprey than people on the bay side, along with multiple other bird species and manatees, we didn't even go there this trip. Plenty of good restaurants in Captiva, more on Sanibel. Definitely a recommendation for families, couples, groups of old friends.

FloridaGreat Beach Getaway
Left on 11/03/2010 for a stay in September 2009
Stayed September 2009 - had an amazing time! The prettiest beach anywhere, all to ourselves! Can't wait to return. House steps to the beach, by the pool, big covered porch for sitting, amazing sunsets, cute restaurants and shops nearby. Nice large bedrooms, family room with fireplace, but stayed mainly outdoors the whole time. Very peaceful area, with quiet, calm beach.
