Description from the manager

The picturesque little village of Carbost lies along the shore of Loch Harport on the west coast of Skye and this charming 1930s Art Deco bungalow sits on an elevated site at the entrance to the village overlooking the loch with marvellous views to the Cuillin mountains. The house retains the original features which give it considerable character and atmosphere and it is comfortably furnished to provide welcoming unpretentious family accommodation. The house itself sleeps three and the separate annexe adjacent to the rear door sleeps a further two persons. The well kept mature gardens have outdoor furniture and there is ample parking. One great week

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Lovely house with all the equipment you need, close to the shop, post office and pub. The owner was very kind and called a few times just to make sure everything was ok.

Nice position, pity about the condition

Left on 08/21/2011 for a stay in August 2011

I start by reporting that the house was ideally suited and had potential for being the perfect holiday home, unfortunately the state of the house left a lot to be desired. The first thing that hit us was the smell of grease as we entered the house through the kitchen. There was not enough crockery for all 5 of us and what was there had to be washed prior to use as it was very dirty. The owner did phone not long after us getting there and the lack of crockery was reported to her which she did manage to arrange for some more dinner plates (unmatching) to be left on the doorstep the following day. The overall cleanliness of the house was a letdown as there were cobwebs, dust and dead insects on the windows in both the dining room and lounge. Also the tablecloth in the dining room was dirty. There was also dirt on the ledge aroung the outside of the bath. The annexe was damp and there is a leak in the left hand side bedroom which I could not identify the source of. My son eventually had to move his clothes out of the wardrobe as they were starting to smell damp. There was also a used plaster on the floor of the wardrobe on the right hand side of the annexe. The outside was considerably overgrown and we had to go around the front of the garden to get to the washing line.
Sorry that this is not a positive review but we were very disappointed in the overall state of the property.

      Summer on Skye

The accommodation was OK. What we found a bit annoying was that hygiene was not that good (spiders under the blankets, dead insects on the floor, kitchen utensils sometimes needed to be cleaned before & afterwards...).
