      Very comfortable accommodation

Left on 06/14/2013 for a stay in May 2013

This was a lovely, warm, peaceful cottage with lovely views to the river and beyond. Situated in a very quiet village with just a local pub so a car is essential. I do have to say however, this is the only cottage I have stayed in, where the owner has not bothered to introduce themselves, especially with only living adjacent to the property. We arrived about 6pm and I do think a pint of milk, at least, would have been welcome, especially as the village did not have a shop. A lovely property but lacking in friendliness from the owner, so for this reason, I would not recommend it.

A quiet, relaxing break with beautiful scenery & every home comf

Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in February 2013

This is a wonderful, peaceful area and the accommodation is beautiful, set to take advantage of the lovely scenery and wildlife. Although the area is rural, it is very convenient for the city of Carlisle with it's historic attractions, excellent rail communication and lovely shops. During our stay we took the train from Carlisle to Glasgow which was very interesting. The School of art is definitely worth a visit. Silloth on the Solway is also a short drive away with excellent fish and chips served in a corner cafe.
The owners of the cottage leave you to enjoy your holiday without being disturbed but reside in the adjacent house and are on hand if any problems arise. We did not encounter any at all during our week's stay.
If you want a quiet, peaceful holiday with all the home comforts of a stylish, modern, well equipped apartment then this is certainly the place to go.

well equipt base in a lovely region

Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012

well equipt, however let down by lack of outdoor space, has a ground floor entrance then apartment is all on the first floor with a juliet balcony but no outdoor access. We enjoyed our stay and it was pleasant accomodation in a nice rural location. Nice welcome touches by hosts however an over abundance of ornaments etc meant that bit tight for space in bathroom and living areas.

Fantastic Base for exploring Cumbria and the Lakes

Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in June 2012

I stayed at Barn End with my girlfriend at the start of June for two nights and could honestly not fault it.
The accommodation is spacious, clean and finished to a very high standard. The kitchen has all the appliances and utensils you might need, there is sky tv, great stereo, comfy large bed, well finished bathroom.

The quaint village pub a couple of minutes walk away is also well worth a visit!

Overall, a great place to stay and I would certainly visit again!

      Relaxing and top quality

Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in July 2011

This accomodation provided a pleasant and relaxing environment from which to explore the surrounding area. The property owner was helpful and accomodating to our needs, the property was spotlessly clean and the furnished to a high standard. We would definately visit again
