Whether you’re traveling here for a weekend getaway or an extended visit, Glass Gable is a cozy and inviting retreat. The Glass Gable is a Duplex consisting of 558 and 560 South Hanover Street. Located just a few blocks from the heart of historic Carlisle, Glass Gable is a stately presence on South Hanover Street. A leisurely stroll along Carlisle’s sidewalks provides a glim...pse at a wide variety of 18th and 19th century architecture. Carlisle is known for its heritage, dating back to 1750; both George Washington and Benjamin Franklin are said to have visited the area. Historic downtown offers unique shopping and dining experiences as well as numerous antique shops and a wide variety of restaurants. Carlisle is also home to Dickinson College, Penn State Dickinson School of Law, the Army War College, and the US Army Heritage Center.

Just outside the borough of Carlisle, you’ll find the Allenberry Dinner Theatre for a casual evening out. If you’re the adventurous type, you can plan a hike on the Appalachian Trail, skiing at Little Roundtop (named the ‘zipline capital of PA’ with many summer activities offered), or fly fishing in the many nearby creeks and springs (including the famous Letort Creek). Carlisle is conveniently located in close proximity to many sites and activities. Gettysburg is about a 30 minute drive through very scenic countryside. Hershey Park is about a 30 minute drive. Baltimore, Maryland (80 miles); Washington DC and Annapolis, Maryland are within 120 miles of Carlisle making each of these destinations great for day trips. New York City is approximately 160 miles away making it a potential day trip as well. It is possible to drive to NYC and take in a afternoon matinée of a Broadway play and return all in the same day.
