This vacation rental was incredible! After spending all day (8 days of boogie boarding, surfing and swimming) on the beach it was great to come "home", clean up in the spacious shower, relax. Everything we needed was provided and then some. We have done many vacation rentals and this one was the best by far. The Welcome Basket was such a nice touch that I teared up! (driving 7 hours on arrival day and 11 the day before had something to do with that-it was wonderful to get to the rental)We enjoyed not only the house but the patio and fountain. It was a nice way to unwind with a book. There was always a nice breeze that came through the house and patio to cool us down. Restaurants, grocery store and the Village are close by. We will return in the future.

We travelled in September to visit family with our then 9-month old. We so enjoyed staying at this wonderful place. It was nice to have a place to go to relax at the end of a long sight-seeing day that felt like home. All transactions and communications were extremely smooth. Thanks for a great vacation!

Michele's guest cottage is just beautiful - like spending time in a relaxing spa atmosphere. The cottage is immaculate and the soothing sound of the fountain outside your window adds to the experience. Michele is the perfect hostess - there when you need her for advice on the area but allowing for the privacy of her guests. We enjoyed the welcome basket with her homemade baked goods. Good location within a short drive to the beach and many restaurants in Carlsbad Village. We couldn't have had a more pleasant stay.

This cottage is our favorite get-a-way spot on the West Coast. It provides the feeling of a very comfortable home coupled with ultra-modern accommodations and a peaceful environment. It is almost so nice that we really don't want to share the experience. This is an annual vacation spot for us.

Michele and her husband were extremely nice and courteous. My wife and I loved the muffins and wine in our welcome basket. Neither of which lasted very long. Any requests we had were responded to quickly and thoroughly. And while they were there when we had questions, our privacy was completely respected.
The suite and the amenities were top notch. There was plenty of room for the two of us. We love to cook and the fully equipped kitchen made this very easy to do.
This is a very comfortable suite in a quiet and relaxing location. What made our vacation spot an over the top experience, was the care and attention we received from our hosts. We can't wait to go back! -

Everything about the house was perfect, Michele's check-in process was fast, easy, and friendly. We stayed for the weekend, walked around the neighborhood, drove to Carlsbad Beach in 10 minutes, lots of little places to eat nearby. Really not one bad thing to say about our stay. In fact I would recommend calling Michele the next time you are going anywhere near southern California! the room had enough floor space for a pack& play, living room was open and bright, loved it. Would have moved in in a second! Thanks Michele.

We stayed here for the week of our wedding. Since we would be having family stopping by, we would need something bigger than a hotel. While pricing and researching locations, we were getting discouraged by the high prices and low quality by the ocean, but then we found this condo! It is more stunning than the photos can portray with very high quality furnishings and decorations. The condo is extremely comfortable and lush. It comes with a patio area with bbq, the best shower ever (4 shower heads!), beautiful and elegant decorations, a fully equipped kitchen, and a large living room and desk. The bed was really comfortable with high quality bedding. The entire place was very lovely and had a wonderful location. Michelle welcomed us with a bottle of champagne and freshly baked cookies for our stay and was quick to refund the deposit. We will be calling Michelle for our anniversaries! Thank you!

My husband and I love Carlsbad and in the past, we've typically stayed at rental properties close to the ocean. However, this time we decided to try a spot in Olde Carlsbad. This location is ideal because it is an easy walk or bike ride to the beach or the village. But the real advantage is that after a day in the sun or shopping in the village, you can return to this lovely, peaceful place, put your feet up with a glass of wine, some cheese and crackers and watch your husband prepare a great piece of fresh fish and a salad, as the kitchen is fully furnished. If you're still hungry, there is a high-end baked treat, complements of Michele Funkhouser. All-in-all, a great vacation spot for two. We will definitely be back and will recommend this place to our family and friends in arizona.

I thoroughly enjoyed this guest house much better than a hotel room anywhere. It was like having our own little place with all the amenities needed. The owners were very welcoming and even got us some bicycles for our use, which we used to take a ride down to the beach and quaint Carlsbad Village. The daily breakfast was so delicious and one of the main reasons we chose this location. I would love to return someday. Thank you Funkhousers for a lovely get away.
