A very welcoming cosy cottage in a beautiful location

In spite of the pretty grim weather, the cottage was like a real "home" and the conservatory was an added bonus for leaving muddy boots and putting them on. A perfect place for towelling the dog before letting her into the house.
There were so many places to visit in the area - the old Georgian theatre in Richmond, Fountains and Jervaulx abbeys, Stump Cross cavern - and the stream of racehorses we saw every time we drove through Middleham could have been put on for our entertainment.
We were very impressed at the fish and chip van that visited Carlton one night a week!
Lovely, we will come again, a great place to "chill"

Great service, caretakers were lovely and fun.
Loved the well equipped cottage, the open fire, garden, pet safe and the views.
The location is good for walks and didn't seem far from anywhere in the car.
Feeding the lambs was a highlight.
Sorry to give a negative but the single beds were awful fortunately my daughter was only in it for 3 nights. we could also smell the oil boiler in the kitchen
Relaxing break in Coverdale
Left on 12/09/2009 for a stay in March 2009 | Dales lover
As usual Sykes came up trumps again, which is why we keep coming back when we need a cottage break.
The cottage was located on the road side and that could have been its worst feature, however the road was seldom used and the cottage standard and secure parking easily made up for this. The caretaker came over to make sure we got settled in and show us where everything was. The lounge was wonderfully cosy when at night we lit the coal fire after a days walking. The Conservatory was ideal for relaxing days in the spring sunshine and ideal for putting on ones boots before walking and taking them off again whe we got home. The Kitchen was superb and we wanted for nothing, I managed 2 Gary Rhodes recipe meals with no bother. The bedroom was fantastic and we slept soundly each night. The area was ideal for walks, both long and short and the local pub was friendly and served good food. The worst feature was easily the fact that we had to leave sto soon, we will definitely be back in the future.

The cottage is one of the best we have stayed in over the many years of renting cottages, it is well equipped with all you need, well furnished, clean and charming.
Locatated in a quite friendly village, a must if you are in need of a restful and tranquil holiday. A beautiful part of the countryside with plenty of good walking from the door. their are lot of places to visit close by, and lots of good places to eat in the surrouding area if you wish. we will defiantly be going to return in the near future.
