Lou Goratse is one of the 8 gites of the old french hamlet (18th century) les Bernardies, located around the old manor on the top of a hill between Sarlat and Souillac (located 20 min from highway Paris-Toulouse, 30 min from airport Brive with flights from London City and Paris Orly airport). Located on the top of a hill, overlooking the beautiful varied landscape with forests, small scale farming and charming villages. Although rural located only 15 minutes from Sarlat/Souillac and within 30 minutes of several main attractions in the Dordogne/Sarlat. Very quiet (except for the playing children in the high season), lots of space, privacy, but also the cosiness of a small village.

Wij waren eind november nog te gast bij vakantiedorp "Les Bernadies" . Ondanks het tijdstip hebben we toch enorm genoten van de gastvrijheid van onze gastvrouw en gastheer . "Les Bernadies" is een perfecte uitvalbasis voor dagtrips naar de betoverende dorpen en steden in de omgeving zoals Sarlat en Rocamadour . Het vakantieverblijf is uitermate geschikt voor een verblijf met het hele gezin ! Het overweldigende landschap van de "Dordogne" alsook de directe omgeving van "Les Bernadies" bieden de bezoeker en groot scala aan mogelijkheden om van een heerlijke vakantie te genieten . Wandelen , fietsen , kanoen en natuurlijk genieten van de culinaire topproducten die de streek te bieden heeft staan op het menu . Zoals gezegd , culinair een zéér aantrekkelijke streek . Wij waren slechts 2 dagen te gast maar zullen zéker terugkeren en zullen dit "hameau de vacance" zeker aanbevelen !!!

This was our first holiday in France with our youngest child and having been away a few times with our elder, we new for us all to enjoy the break fully, the kids would need to be occupied.
We researched the area for properties long and hard and we think we found the perfect fit for a young family on vacation in, 'Les Bernardies'!
The hameau is fantastic and provides a great selection of occupations for kids and the space for free play/football (the world cup a fixture for the boys at this point!) The tennis court and pool were firm favourites with our two and the child's play area was well thought out too.
A real bonus though, is how warm, friendly, relaxed and welcoming Chantal and her family are. Her two youngest children came by to say hello to ours on the first day and from then became great friends, certainly this made the holiday for our kids. Always on hand to help with any queries they even welcomed the boys and their Dad into their own home to watch their favourite team play during the World Cup. You get the feeling they are happy to do all they can to make your stay enjoyable.
The gites are simply but stylishly furnished, small finishings and details, like candles, lots of outdoor seating options and well kitted our kitchen make the difference.
Our house was wonderfully situated, very private, but with easy access to everything and the large terrace provided wonderful views which we enjoyed over breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We were very lucky to experience great weather while we were there, but mixed days by the pool with trips out to experience all the Dordogne had to offer, easy to reach little villages provide all you need and Sarlat's great market on Wed and Saturday within 15 minutes drive. Not to mention we experienced our first electrical lighting storm! Thrilling. All and all, we cant recommend this property enough, ticks all the boxes for a great family holiday.

A very pleasant (small) holiday park with lots of personal attention. The (Dutch) owners go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful stay. They remodeled all holiday homes a few years ago in a stylish and comfortable way.
The swimming pool, playground and tennis-court gave plenty of entertainment. And with all kinds of castles, old towns and beautiful nature in the vicinity it is hard to get bored here. -

We had a fabulous time, despite the incessant rain. We had a day or two with sun during which we got to enjoy the lovely pool, and on rainy days we could go and explore the many castles, caves and pittoresque towns in the area.
Our cottage was cosy, comfortable and spacious enough to spend days indoors, and our enormous terrace was perfect to catch the sun at any time of day. We loved the tower of our cottage, it was very fairytale-like. The grounds were large enough to have plenty of privacy and small enough to get around. We found there was so much atmosphere at Les Bernardies, the cottages are so tastefully decorated!
We though the degustation night was a wonderful touch and we absolutely love the hosts! -

We stayed in Lou Goratse in the summer of 2009 and we had an excellent time. The house is well equiped and very romantic with the small tower and it has beautiful surroudings. The activities that can be done around the house (garden, playingarea and swimmingpool) are excellent and the kids loved it.
The BBQ spot in the garden was also great.
We will come again in 2010!
